10% of my annual salary as well here, if i get promoted at some point it'll go up to 20% though.. :)

Should get a payrise too, think thats about 5% though.

I know someone who got a Porsche Boxster as their Christmas bonus..not too bad eh, lucky sod.

I get no bonus and I havent had a raise or review in the past year my company sucks. I have thought about searching for a new job but with all the talks from our company about new pay grades is making me stick around. my companies contract goes into effect in january and should be getting a new pay raise by then if not I am out of here.

oh yeah and working for a company like General Motors Corp. sucks they treat there contract employees like crap as well as some regular employees if your not management then you might as well lay yourself down on the ground for some good old stomping action.

I have never been so mistreated at a job before, and I have never seen so many poeple talk down to you. no respect at all.

I know exactly what you're saying. I love Catalunya. The people there put other people at the top of their priorities rather than money.

Sounds like a fantastic trip. Did you do much sightseeing amongst all the partying?

Before we went, we worried that two days wouldn't be enough, but I don't think our bodies could have taken any more.

We didn't do any real sight-seeing as such, but just wandering around we saw a lot, the Gothic quarter, the waterfront, several Gaudi buildings - didn't get to see La Sagrada Familia which is a pity. Having said that, I generally don't do the 'tourist' thing, prefer to go off the beaten track, find a nice cafe/bar/club, hopefully meet some locals, have a chat, make some friends.

One (of many) funny experience, as I went to the gents' in a nightclub there, the guy ahead of me turned and made some comment to me about the club, but in English with a Spanish accent. I asked (in my best Spanish) "hey, why are you talking to me in English? I could be Spanish!" - he replied "No, you couldn't possibly be Spanish". "Hey! Why not???" At that instant another guy came out of one of the cubicles and said "Sorry, no way could you be Spanish!" and walked off. :p

Great people, and a great city. When were you there? Definitely going back, hiring out an apartment and staying longer this time. It was a far better bonus that cash, to be honest!

We don't get Christmas bonuses--just annual raises. Meh. It's all right. I still like what I do.

I have an apartment just down the coast in Sitges, so I go a good six or seven times a year. Interesting what you say about the "no way could you be Spanish". The locals in Sitges think I'm Italian :D

umm we all got a box of rather expensive chocolates yesterday, sure it's not cash, but it's still a nice touch. Plus I'm just a contractor, so I wasn't even expecting that much.

Well, we just got 9.8% of last years pay, but it was not really Christmas, just a performance bonus.

Let me go buy a Nikon D200 with the elusive 18-200VR lens. :D

Oooh! As an update, we also get to stay and work a full day, reversing a usual organizational policy of early release on the day before major holidays... I guess technically this isn't the day before Christmas....

I've worked here for 21 years, and we have never done Christmas bonuses. Seeing as I just completed a crunch of 220 hours worked in two weeks, I'm just happy to have a couple of days off to rejuvenate.

It seems getting Christmas bonus is partially based on the industry or profession you are in. So far, by looking at this thread, the contractors (per project base jobs) and arts/graphic design fields are not generous in giving out the bonus. What do you think?

EDIT: Self Employed is also the main profession which does not give out bonus.

I work for Best Buy, we got a 'season' party with a pre-arranged dinner at Kelseys. Oh yeah... if we wanted to bring someone, we had to pay $30... frig Best Buy. I can't wait to leave.

If I may be so blunt, your employer is a very cheapskate. Who want to bring a guest to a company party if you have to pay for it. Never ever for me. I did not go to my company's Xmas dinner; but, employees are allowed to bring one guest with him/her.

No, I think that makes sense. The party probably isn't run by the company but someone in management from his particular store which means they are paying for the party either out of pocket and/or from store funds. So if you had 30 people and 30 people brings guests that's a lot of extra to spend. At least this is my speculation.

I'm a manager at an Ann Taylor store, and we originally cancelled it until we found out last minute we won some big store funds which will now be going to a dinner in January instead. Of course guests will have to pay extra as well :D

So I have finished work until January now and guess what?

I received **** all. Just like I said in my first post!

Actually thats being harsh. My boss bought me a beer and a plate of fries to share (which he then covered in vinegar which I cannot stand).
