Seems like at least once or twice a month. Mainly because when I go to use my camera, it locks up on the shutter animation screen. Only way to get it out of that, reboot. Been like that since iOS 5. Not sure what the deal is.

I have only turned my 4S off to change SIM cards a month of so ago.

I also do not believe that running the battery down is required.:p

You don't even need to turn off the phone to change sim-cards :) Or did i miss that in the manual? :) Just saying!

And you're absolutely correct, it even says in the manual :)

wirelessly posted (mozilla/5.0 (iphone; u; cpu iphone os 4_3_5 like mac os x; en-us) applewebkit/533.17.9 (khtml, like gecko) version/5.0.2 mobile/8l1 safari/6533.18.5)

never, and works perfect

+1 But I frequently turn it off at night so it is restarted most days once.

I look at the phOne as a computer, so yes I def reboot and shut her down when I can/want

Still find it strange that some people reboot it when they don't even have any problems, in belief that they think they might stop a problem from happening..

No-one can answer why they REALLY reboot their phone and not just "do it"? Because?

I am curious, because that way we can help each other out on what the pros and cons are, no?

I'm gonna have a guess, windows-owners that also has an iPhone reboots their iPhone because windows has given them the enjoyment of keeping "fresh" due to a system-flaw in windows not being able to free up system resources as it should and therefor it has become a habit for people and that's why they just "do it" ? Am i getting closer? I hate to guess, but no-one seems to wanna answer it, so i guess it's open for guessing :p

And yes, i am allowed to take that conclusion as i've had PC's for my whole life otherwise, since 2months ago when i discovered just how great the apple software really is at freeing up system resources without taking a hit by the uptime..

Never. Apps do crash, but the phone never yet crashes (freezes or restarts itself).

Only every time I forget to charge my phone before I go to bed and it dies in the morning.

My brother's iphone 4 got replaced because of that issue lol. He was in Australia though, not sure about your place.

The good thing is, my previous 4S also did that so I know it's not the phone. Plus, the little dot that's in the middle of that shutter image, changes when it locks up. That tells me the camera is working because that dot changes color/brightness as I move the camera around. It's just the shutter image that's frozen. Tells me a software issue.

I've had the 3GS, 4, and 4S and have never rebooted any of them on a regular basis unless an app stopped responding.

I bought the phone last Saturday, and rebooted several times on Sunday due to an issue with my folders. I haven't rebooted since and generally only when a problem arises.

Just rebooted (tethered via redsnow) to prevent app crashing and lag.

Will do this maybe once a week most likely.

I've had to reboot a few times because it loses 3G at home ... it will have full bars, but will not show 3G.

I reboot only when I have issues which is a couple times a week. Never reboot just for the sake of it though. You don't even need to do that with a PC either. Mine has been on for the last 3 months at least and has been on the whole time 24/7.

New 4s owner for 1 1/2 weeks and I haven't rebooted yet. I switched from Android where I was broken of the daily reboot habit that was necessary with the Windows phone I had prior. Now I am curious if my already speedy iPhone would be any faster if I rebooted. Maybe I'll check it out...

I boot my iPhone 4 every Sunday evening, as it's a tethered 5.0 jailbreak. I never have a reason to power it off really, but I just feel more confident in the OS stability by getting a fresh start before the work week when losing power due to some glitch could be disastrous! I do my Apple computers the same way, every week or so I re-boot mainly thinking that if I got any bugs from being around the internet (spyware, malware, etc.) it forces them to close.

My nightly routine of an apps kill and reboot has zilch to do with Windows. I've been in the Military Aerospace business since the very late 70s, long before Windows was even dreamed of.

Worked with and on a large variety of electronic test stands and consoles of all formats/"operating systems" and trust me, a system restart/power cycle will work wonders for such systems. I can't even begin to tell you how many times people would ask me what I though was wrong with their system and the first thing I always say is "did you reboot/restart/power cycle the system?". Most times they never come back after such a power cycle as it fixed their issues. So there is no reason to doubt such a power cycle will "fix" an issue you do not yet even know you might be having at the time.

Unless there was a very good reason not to, at the beginning of my shift I restart everything electrical in nature that I will be using during that shift.

Sure, I'll admit some systems really do not need it, but again, the bottom line is that except for extenuating particulars, it can't hurt and can only help.

Thus, I power cycle my iPhone every single night.
