I asked this at a Genius Bar in an Apple Store and they said rebooting actually does more harm then good and shouldn't be done unless absolutely have to, like if the iPhone freezes.

I noticed with the last couple of iOS's sometimes after I did a reboot some of my setting got resorted back to factory settings so I sort of hold back on doing it unless I have too.

What "harm" did they claim it would do? Drain a bit of battery during the boot up sequence?

I use to reboot daily, I don't really know why. I guess I figured it made things run smoother. Since jailbreaking (tethered) I haven't rebooted at all. It's been about 2 months and my phone is running great. Rebooting was just a waste of time!

So, most people leave their phone on all the time? Don't you let the iPhone take a break too? It's tired. ;)

I let it sleep at night, and wake up when I do.

Could be various reasons like that the software caches the most used data into memory and therefor runs faster and besides the power it takes to reboot, i'm sure there are other reasons too. That's why i was so curious to what the benefits may be rebooting your iPhone everyday, because i am not aware of any, so therefor i would like to know the pros of it!

I can understand people who shut their phone off during sleep, like you do, hehe.
But rebooting the phone without a reason, no. :)

Usually once every 2-3 days as the SMS tones sound as if phone is having periods.

Good lord!

I've had my phone since April 1 or so and rebooted maybe 3 times. And then every OS upgrade reboots, so maybe 5-6 total?

Zero problems which rebooting might solve. Misbehaving apps can be forcequit. Power cycling is absolutely pointless on this device, military hardware really has nothing to do with Apple phones. The phone doesn't even shut itself off when you let the battery drain, it just goes to sleep. And the Mute switch works great to avoid phone call noise when you don't want it.
