Love this question. AW4 SS and AW5 SBSS. Also Garmin F5X sapphire, F6 Ti, F6X sapphire, Vivoactive 4 First Avenger and 45 auto and quartz watches (Nothing too expensive). Just got a Vivosmart 4 for the right wrist to keep up Garmin tracking with AW or one of the others. AW most workdays due to certain features like secureauth app and unlocking Mac. Garmin most of the time. Sometimes regular watch for evenings out.

I got tons of "other" watches, most kept as backups, the rest because I'm not one who tosses still-working tech in the garbage:

1. Original Samsung Galaxy Gear
2. Samsung Gear 2
3. Samsung Gear S
4. Samsung Gear S2/S3 Classic/Sport/Watch Active
5. LG Watch Urbane (OG)
6. OG Motorola 360
7. OG Asus ZenWatch
8. OG LG G Watch
9. Dollar General "VIBE" Smart Watch
10. Apple Watch Series 3
11. Apple Watch Series 5

Since my 5 is a bit buggy, I keep the 3 on its charging dock active as a backup watch. But obviously the watches are my main-stays so far.

I've always wanted a smart watch since growing up with Inspector Gadget and Knight Rider as a kid.

I've seen you post your use case in a bunch of places and it raises the question, where / how do you manage your data? Do you have a single repository that you funnel all your stats to (like Garmin Connect, Strava, Apple Health) and if so, what shortcomings do you see?

I've been Garmin for the last 2 years and the nice thing is they have all their data in one spot without the need for a bunch of 3rd party apps. I've also tried AW/Wahoo combos and end up needing all these extra apps (RunGap, Autosleep, Strava, etc) to move all my info around. Drives me nuts.

Good question. I prefer the Garmin repository due to its mobile app and web options.

For sleep I prefer Garmin's presentation, especially now with Pulse Ox and respirations, but I do use Autosleep with the AW. I've worn them both together a couple nights and the Garmin is right on for me (or at least consistent with AW and Autosleep).

If I wear an AW for an extended period (I no longer do), I have to live with Apple Health and the Activity app to see move/exercise/stand, steps, etc. I just don't prefer move/exercise/stand goals with Apple since I'm moderately active with 4-5 activities at least per week. I like floors and steps, and intensity minutes but prefer the activity burns and achievements, and all that data. Also run with Scosche HR, Tempe sensor, Stryd footpod, you get the idea. GEEK!

I'm mainly concerned with activities, and whether I wear an AW or Garmin (or both) for a run, I use RunGap to get the data to Apple, Garmin, Strava and Runkeeper. Wife and stepson use RunKeeper (stepson runs a 5K in 17 minutes). Few other friends use Strava. When I use AW with Gymaholic for weights (love the app), I use Rungap to send the strength training data to Garmin/Strava. When I use Garmin for a run, walk, ride, I use Rungap to send to Apple/Strava/Runkeeper. Sounds hard, but only a few finger taps on the phone.

Edited to add: When I wear a Seiko, Luminox, Citizen, etc., I wear the Vivosmart 4 on the other wrist to keep up HR, steps, floors, etc. That's a newer thing having just added the VS4.....

Since I bought Apple Watch in 2017, I haven't worn any other watch. Not once. They're all sitting in watch boxes. I could live without the notifications but I really like all of the health tracking and motivation the Apple Watch provides.

For me, that’s definitely also the main reason for not wearing another watch now... it makes that „heartless“ electronic device a rather personal thing.

Do you own other watches? If so, how much wrist time does your Apple Watch get weekly?

I'm mostly using my S5 on certain weekdays; like when I have meetings, when I need to go somewhere in town/abroad, or when I work out. However my other mechanical watches get nearly 100% of wrist time on weekends and off days.
Since I got it, it hasn't left my wrist a single day. My other watches sit in the watchbox inside my bedside drawer

I still enjoy wearing my mechanical watches from time to time. People seem to compliment you if you’ve got a nice watch on these days as they expect everybody to be wearing a smartwatch. The Apple Watch is nice as it’s a useful tool, but it doesn’t beat a nice mechanical for looks.

Exactly, I agree with you. Even tho I never compliment people, I easily notice someone who wears a nice timepiece and I can't help but respecting them if they wear a special timepiece. Having worn both for long enough I can tell how mechanical watches and smartwatches fulfill two different needs. The Apple Watch definitely has its place in most watch collections ... Ok maybe not inside the display watch case, but right next to it.

That's an interesting smart watch collection you got there. You should definitely get a sealed AW S0 to make it even more special, and who knows maybe in a few years your collection will be worth some serious bucks ;)

I'd rather have a sealed OG iPhone if I were collecting old  stuff. I do have an active/working Apple PowerBook G4 Titanium. It's a bit beat but works. OS X 10.2 Jaguar.

I still got a soft spot for skeuomorphic UI so an OG iPhone 2G would mean more to me than a S0 watch.

I've kept most of everything I've ever purchased. By my calculations I've amassed enough tech to last me my entire life and my New Year's resolution for 2020 was never to buy anything new again tech-wise. I've done enough consumerism and nothing released today is enough to upgrade. I've grown where I don't need the latest and greatest anything to live a happy life. There's a Zenith TV from 1988 in my garage that still works for one.

Unfortunately more than a dozen of my mechanical watches keep winding in a box for a very long time
I just shouldn't have bought them :(

I have an older but very nice stainless steel & gold Concord Mariner. Probably worth about $1500 still. Never wear it anymore. Apple Watch has become too valuable to me.

It’s rarer these days but I do wear a mechanical watch from time to time. If I’m dressing up smart in a suit then i’ll wear a stylish watch rather than my Apple Watch. In terms of style and a piece of wrist jewellery, the Apple Watch just can’t compete on looks with many watches. In terms of being useful and a gadget, it’s in a class of its own.

I have way too many mechanical watches that I don’t wear anymore (Probably around a dozen or more). But I refuse to part ways with them also, because there will be those times where I may not want to wear the Apple Watch and rotate my mechanical watches pending my outfit, mood or whatever style for that particular day. Plus, I just don’t feel like dealing with the hassle of selling my watches unknown buyers, when all of them are near pristine condition.

I don't own any mechanical watches. Some days I look at the several watches I've owned in my drawer. All "smart watches" from the original Sony OS watch, Pebble, Moto G and others. I used to love tech and spent a lot of money when I was younger on these.

Had an AW since January and haven't worn a mechanical watch since.

I switch straps and watch faces depending on what I am doing
