They have to ability to check crash logs. Trust me.

Ok, well I just tried calling the closest Apple Store to me is closed for some reason until July 24th (renovations maybe?). So now the next closest store is about an hour or so away...I'd rather not drive out there and have them say no we can't do anything, but I noticed that my silent button is loose when I put it on silent like the others so if the crashing thing fails at the Apple Store I could complain about that and get a new one right? I mean I'd rather not ditch this phone but the crashing is so annoying. I already have an Invisible Shield on the back & the iSkin Solo FX case with the sick mirror screen cover that I will lose if I get a new phone. Being phone-less is not an option so I'm not sending it to them.

Ok now it's getting ridiculous I'm definitely going to schedule an appointment and tell them what's up that I want a new phone this is crazy, I paid $400 for it they better not give me ****. Also I restored from a backup the other day, but a week or two ago I did that tethering thing from https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/721946/ thread. Is this bad to have on my phone or would doing a restore from back up remove that?

Ditto with all the other posters that have NOT experienced a crash with the new 3GS....:cool::cool:

Restore to factory settings; just make sure you have a backup available with all your data stored...

Almost sounds like you did a jailbreak on the 3GS???

No I didn't jailbreak it, and the problem has been with this phone since I got it I just thought it was normal for a phone to reset once and a while

Then just take it back. You want to make sure that you can get it back to factory settings, then check to see if it operates normally without crashing. Also ensure that your tethering option is removed as well. Good luck.....

Is there anyway to back up just the contacts & text messages and not the network settings? I cannot get the tethering option to disappear

It wouldn't hurt to restore it to factory settings, b/c you have the most recent backup available to you as well. Once you get your new 3GS you can easily restore it from your most recent backup.....

Yeah I just did that, I'll deal without the contacts & texts for now. Once I get my new one I'll get the songs / contacts / texts from the back up.

Ok i'm running from factory default or whatever, is there anyway to prevent it from backing it self up and erasing the previous back up?

Something strange happened to me with my new iPhone 3GS.

I turned off 3G to test out the EDGE speeds at my house just too see what it would be like. When I turned off 3G, my iPhone kinda hung, then restarted itself, and my iMac froze but I could still here a youtube video. There was also this weird noise coming from my speakers. The iPhone was connected to my iMac if that means anything.

So I had to manually shutdown my iMac. I have no idea what happened.

Freaked me out a little!

all these people bs too much. safari and iphone text messages crashes so much. dont tell me it never happened. atleast once a day.

My iphone 8GB and 16GB 3G hasn't crashed till now.. really lucky I suppose.. :D iPhones shouldn't crash though..

Need a quick answer, is there any way to save my contacts & texts without using mobileme to my macbook? If only the contacts that would be great. I also would not like to use backup because I have the tethering firmware on my iPhone now and I don't have a backup without it

Sync to Google Contacts?

EDIT: Also, you should really do this on another computer if you have one available in order to totally avoid messing up your current backups. Or just back up your backups.

I signed up for mobileme 60 day free trial, i just want to put all my contacts & texts possibly on my macbook without the iTunes back up is this possible?

edit: I got all the contacts to my computer now which is great I'm guessing the texts aren't possible?

Good news, when I took it in the phone actually wouldn't work like the phone application. So basically I told them what happened and such and they replaced it for me. Also the new one has a great silent on off switch no looseness at all :)
