I have Macs ranging from 27 years to 6 months old. My newest Mac laptop would be my late 2013 rMBP which I purchased on January 27, 2014, while my newest Mac desktop would be my Retina iMac which I received on October 21, 2014. :)

Not even a month old :p :D
I hope I can stick with it for at least 4-5 years before I have to upgrade :)

My oldest Mac is an Early '09 Whitebook. I also have a 2009 27" iMac, as well as the Mid '14 rMBP.

Mine is about a year and 3 months old. I have the late-2013 15" rMBP, my first ever Apple computer that I've had. I'm hoping this will last me another few years down the road, maybe even longer!

I bought a refurb rMBP a couple months ago that was from mid-2014 if I remember correctly.

My rmbp was bought in October of 2013 with 1tb sd drive and highest specs. I'll replace it when skylake is out along with an updated monitor, whenever that is updated.

We have three Macs at home, all mid-2010.

One of them (the mini) is due to be upgraded next week. The Core 2 Duo cannot keep up with Final Cut Pro anymore. The Macbooks are fine, they are mostly used for internet browsing so I expect to have them around for another 2-3 years.

Late 2011 MBP purchased in fall of 2011. Battery cycles are getting up there, but no issues yet.

On my third MacBook Pro, and I've had it since 2010, it was dropped once off a bed onto the carpet floor, thankfully not a scratch.

And she still ticks along, I maxed it out at the time I bought it bar the memory, I can't remember if they offered SSD drives back then? Anyway it now has 8GB Crucial RAM and a Samsung 512Gb SSD. It runs fine but I do think Yosemite has slowed it down in a couple of areas?

Anyway, my Mac laptop has outlasted tons of people I know with PC's.. I even upgraded my brother in laws old iMac the other month, I think it's a 2008 model, maxed the RAM out and fitted a 3 terabyte hybrid SSD / HDD drive. He said it runs great!

It is stunning value, I like it when you spend that bit extra but you get something that lasts.

I will buy a new one someday, so long as it can run Crysis one in parallels I'll be happy. And run a nice 24" 4K monitor for other tasks.

Always a question. It was 1995, but I've since given that one away. Now It's a 2005 iBook G4 on Tiger, then our 2007 iMac running Yosemite as far as Intel goes.

Personally I use a Late 2013 rMBP upgraded from my Late 2008 MacBook mid last year. I like to go around 6 years or so myself or until it doesn't meet my needs sufficiently.

Manufacture date 12.09.2013 here, Macbook Pro Retina. Love it and hopefully it lasts longer than my other one, which failed at the two year mark when I spilled Dr. Pepper on it...

early 2008 iMac - HDD & Mavericks
early 2008 iMac - HDD & Snow Leopard
2008 MBP - SSD & Mavericks
2012 MBP - 512 Gig SSD, 2TB HDD, 16 Gigs RAM & Yosemite - Why the hell would I give this up any time soon? No dongles or external storage for this bad boy.

From 2008

I have the Aluminium Macbook (not MBP) from 2008. It has been brilliant for me. I have upgraded the RAM to 8GB and installed a Crucial 256 SSD. Whenever I use the Mac's of family members I am reminded how slow a spinning HDD is and how glad I am to be using the SSD.

However, I'm on my third battery for this Macbook and despite the third one being relatively new I get around 90 minutes of battery life not the alleged five hours so I must have done something wrong somewhere along the line.

I can't remember the last time I used the optical drive. Probably 2012, ha ha.

I'm not a power user but I always like to future proof my machines for as long as possible. I imagine i'll consider upgrading to a rMBP when Skylake is released by Intel as that should last me many years.

The Macbook Retina shows the way Apple is moving with its laptop line and while it probably would suit my needs i don't want the first edition and will let them revise the product. I may purchase it in its next iteration.

I probably would have gone for the Macbook Air but I believe it will likely be retired within 18 months as a product once they can bring down the cost of producing the Macbook Retina and if USB-c takes off as they expect. I think Apple are very unlikely to ever give the Air a Retina display.

So while I would like to go out and buy a new Mac right now I think i'll probably keep waiting until I can't get anymore use out of my current 2008 Macbook. I'd love to be persuaded otherwise.

I have a mid 2010 Macbook Pro.

I have upgraded to 8gb of ram and replaced the original hard drive with a 500gb OWC Mercury EXTREME Pro 6G

I use my Macs as dual purpose for work and personal. Because I enjoy using the latest OS and benefit from lots of resources I replace them every 18 to 24 months. I'm at the halfway mark presently. For my network I use a Mac Pro, my laptops are MacBook Air & Pro. I'm a very satisfied Apple customer.

mid 2009 13" MBP a little laggy but still going strong
late 2013 21.5" iMac
mid 2014 13" rMBP
