During era of s-voice, there was no Siri. Just think about that. S-voice was not too intelligent due to its limited response. Just look at Siri now - it can't even do voice tag which s-voice can aeons ago.

There are so many other examples where apple is just following and not the innovator. Many ifans blindly believe everything that came out in iPhone are apple innovations when in fact there are not. Why this pattern with ifans? Maybe it is because Apple marketing keeps blowing its trumpet and spinning stories and ifans lapped it up blindly. Other manufacturers just innovate and deploy those functionalities to its customers then move on to the next one.
Siri an Apple innovation? It was purchased just like they bought Touch ID and Face ID.

To me, there’s a difference between what a device is technically capable of, and what people actually end up using it for.

Dex sounds cool on paper. I guarantee you that nobody is going to use it for anything meaningful ever.
I didn’t ever use DeX myself beyond seeing that it worked. Not really a fan of desktop computing. I think it’s a good concept and I like options even if I’m not going to use them personally.

Trust me. Apple is never going to do something like Dex.
They won’t I agree.

Why is it so important who introduced a feature first? Personally I’m more concerned with which features work best, iOS or Android. There are features on both ends that were introduced first and were pretty crappy. Then they get improved on both platforms. There will always be a give and take. In the end, customers choose which features work best and are more important for themselves. Everyone wins.
I like to give credit to innovators but ultimately I’m just going to use whatever features work the best for me. Samsung and android deserve some credit for those features they pioneered but for me iOS works the best so that’s what I’m going to use.

Just like Apple would never make a stylus for their tablets and mobile devices? or phablets because they are chunky and ugly? Or use OLED screens.

Size of the X Plus looks great. I was hesitant at first but I think I’ll move back to the larger size. I’m considering going iPhone only instead of my iPhone/iPad combo depending on the split screen features. The Note looks very dated to me here, they need a redesign of their lineup to spark some sales into it.

The Note 9 is selling very well and definitely not dated.

Selling well compared to what? The top and bottom bezels look dated to me. It’s an opinion, okay for you to disagree though. I think a redesign would help with sales, that’s all I’m saying. I’m sure many would agree.

I think those are two matters which should not be conflated.

The S9 reportedly didn't sell very well either, and I suspect this is due to cheaper android flagships eating into Samsung's sales of their high-end devices. The iPhone is, to an extent, inured against this because of the uniqueness of the Apple ecosystem.

I doubt the Note 9 will do all that well in terms of sales either. But it won't be because of its design, but simply because of cheaper alternatives available.

In relative term iPhone sales is stagnate.

The other of your manufacturers have gained significant except Samsung.

Incorrect. Install package disabler pro, and bam its disabled. How do I know? Because it's the first thing I do lol
Exactly the reason I prefer iOS.

In absolute terms the s9 sales are poor, note 9 is probably going to be same. Samsung sells a boatload of $50 phones, not where they want to be.

What you mean lack of choice? You inferred bixby was a useless feature which i agree, i show it can be disabled full stop therefore negates the claim, and you state you prefer IOS which is fine as well. The difference being i can without rooting disable the feature and it vanishes. Many complain they still have the stocks app built in ios can you disable it as such its not visible (even thought its still there in theroy)?.

Nope you cant so, i get ya prefer IOS and i have no issue with that, as i have stated many time before i think the x model is fantastic looking, however myself i prefer having the choice and thats worth a lot more to me

I don’t have the stock app on my iPhone. How do you disable the bixby button without pulling it out on the note 9?

You can remap it but can the button be disabled on the note 9?

You can remap it yes or

I use package disable pro from the playstore, it uses knox verification to get elevated privilege which then allows you to disable any system app you want, so i disable all bixby stuff as well as other things at system level that i dont want loading at boot up. Yes the button still there but i don't use it so don't care about that and i dont remap as some remapping can cause lag as its just intercepting the bixby call and rerouting so adds a slight delay

What I said, was I prefer iOS and to clarify one reason is that I dont have to resort to loading additional apps to disable options that are already present. Eg Siri: on or off.

As far as the storage of built in iOS apps, in later versions of iOS many of the apps can actually be deleted. The storage taken up though by deleting the apps is minimal.

Nobody really cares about screen to body ratio.

The chin, the forehead and the curved display makes the display feel smaller than it really is compared to a flat display like the iPhone X.

iPhone X is much more immersive than the note 9. Because it doesn’t have a chin or forehead.

This still from the same YouTube video gives a better impression of screens and the notches.

There are ways around this (documents app, icab browser on iPad, workflow app), but I can see how this can be frustrating for someone expecting this sort of functionality to come out of the box.
I guess I'm really spoiled by Android and Windows where is "it just works" (sorry couldn't help myself ) very easy. I guess if chrome OS wasnt still a mess (with regards to Android apps) or if Windows had a good app store, OR if there was a Android equivalent to the 12,9 inch iPad I would/will sell my Ipad.

Let's see if Chrome OS will be better on the new Pixelbook. Until then the iPad is the only option.
