You do realize that Apple themselves have long pushed images of iPhones with glare right in their marketing images, right? For example...

...and...

apple-iphone-4_44w_enl.jpg

And wow- still love that iPhone 5 design. I wish Apple would have bigger-screened that same design, kept the camera flush as it was there, and filled that space with more battery. IMO, that would have been an AMAZING iPhone: much more battery life, flush camera, utility of the headphone jack option (too), etc. WOW!

This isn’t marketing material.

Samsung’s curved screens has glare. It makes the screen feel smaller.

Flat screen devices like the iPhone X doesn’t really have any glare.

Where is the iPhone SE / Note 9 comparison?

iPhone SE is a proper PHONE.
To right!

Not a darn pocket friendly phone on the American market, unless you order a tiny low-end Android from Japan or India, which only works on the GSM networks here.

OK visit Apple's own marketing page and scroll down the page looking at their own images of iPhone X: https://www.apple.com/iphone-x/ Edge glare on BOTH sides for most of those images. Or is that not marketing material either?

Note I'm not trying make a pro-Samsung argument here: just basically calling this a bit of a reach when Apple's own, professional shots of iPhones for marketing purposes usually insert a glare (on purpose!)... and the current supreme wonder flagship shows glare on TWO sides on Apples own marketing pages.

If we want to punch at Galaxy, it's much easier to just go with:
  • Android < iOS and
  • Samsung < Apple and
  • Galaxy < iPhone.
Plenty of punch without having to reach.

They're not really comparable. Galaxy Note is more like a computer (true smartphone) while the iPhone X+ is more like a blown up iPod with calling capability (dumb phone). And, it's not really 6.5" but more like 6" when factoring in the missing chunk of content from notch.
And what can the Note do that the upcoming iPhone X plus can’t?? With supposed Apple Pencil support.

I’d rather have a notch than top and bottom bezels. Apples design wins. Note 9 like I’ve said before is a S9 with a stylus. Nothing new here.

I can testify that the glare on the curved screen was not an issue at all on the S8, but unintentional touches is a real issue.
Just tell people not to touch your phone.

The notch is basically a bezel with wasted screen on the sides.

Samsung design/hardware is only second to Apple. While the Galaxy series does have amazing hardware, the software lets it down big time. Apple and iOS are untouchable at the moment as far and I am concerned...

How do you figure the iPhone X is not a ‘computer’, but the Galaxy Note 9 is?

Restrictions in the OS.

Even the Android 8.1 Oreo Samsung Experience 9 can be configured to take various peripherals, including external HDDs. When I was out doing field work recently I could route just about everything through Moto e4 in ways my iPad/iPhone never could in the past. Didn't even need the laptop I brought most of the time. And if QGIS (QField) for Android was further along I'd likely not even need the laptop anymore.

Digital Camera connected to the phone by WiFi (yes iOS can do that to), and exported right to a LaCie Rugged Mini connected to the phone's MicroUSB port. Ya, even supplied enough power to run the spinning platters. Paragon's Microsoft exFAT/NTFS mounter is an amazing Android app/extension I don't think I'd ever want to give up. Lack of File System access in iOS is so crippling, always has been, and is a major factor as to why iOS devices can't be considered "Personal Computers".

Can the note 9 record 4K at 60fps with the 5 minute limit?
Or is that still a thing for Samsung phones.

I agree as well about the notch, prefer it to a forehead and chin which is a dated design for a 2018 flagship.

Cue the "I like the hardware but the software is crap" mantra. I definitely agree with that.

A few years ago before I dove deep into the Apple family, I considered the Note. Glad I didnt get it.
How do you know?

Sure.

Maybe you don’t notice it the same way iPhone X users don’t really notice the notch?

Those photos all seem to be taken at an angle which reflects light.

When you're looking at the device from a perpendicular distance, reflections don't show up.

Don’t know about that.

Given the same lighting conditions.
The one plus and the phone x aren’t reflecting any glare but the curve on the note 9 and s9 are making the display look smaller.

This piece is ridiculous, comparing a phone that is currently released to one that at this point is just unconfirmed rumour. You might as well compare it to a bar of soap. Seems to me it's been posted just to whip up some apple vs. android fanboy arguments.

No mention of it in the Note 9 spec sheets, but then again they never mentioned it in the S9 specs either.

In the S9/9+, its a limitation in the Samsung camera app.
Load up another camera app and the limit is gone.

All this infantile notch nonsense:
  1. "i love the notch";
  2. "My notch is better that your asymmetric forehead and chin";
  3. "My notch has functional purpose, your forehead and chin is so year 2000"
  4. ...
Now, wondering aloud: What would have happened if we had reversed rolls?

Let's assume for just a moment that in an alternate universe Samsung creates the notch and iPhone preserves TouchID with forehead and chin unchanged?

Now, be honest (pretty please with sugar on top):
What seismic reaction would have that produced? Would you then "embrace the [Samsung] notch"?

[Just give me a SE Mark II, with its build unchanged, and I will be a happy camper.]

It was a hardware limitation on the s9 did that change with the note 9?

In my opinion, it is illogical to compare the Note 9 to a phone that hasn't even been formally announced. And creating a video based on said comparison, is nothing more than logical fallacy. Once the new iPhones are announced etc. this kind of article would be more apropos.

Is this a first? Comparing an existent phone to a nonexistent one? Apple (and Samsung for that matter) should be more worried about the new upstarts like the Poco F1. Which although have inferior screens. Pretty much match the performance and features for about a quarter of the cost. Why buy a Ferrari to go to the shops when a Ford will do the same job but without the badge on the front. Spend remaining dosh on a nice holiday, kids. Yes. That's the real threat to the Big Two. Not each other But the true competition waiting in the wings. Actually. I should've said Big Three. Huawei are the biggest current value for money manufacturers. But even they will have to sit up and take notice if these Xiaomi guys are chucking out $300 phones (currently in India). Yes Autumn 2018 could prove an interesting time for both makers and buyers alike. And that is a good thing IMHO
