Sapphire will give you the same problem most likely. It's not the glass itself that is scratching, it is most likely the coating. Same thing happens on high end watches with anti reflective coating.

This. My Omega Planet Ocean had a scratch in its anti reflective coating and I sent it to Omega to replace the crystal.

It's always the coatings that are the weakest link.

Dropped my 6 today. Oleophobic coating now has 2 fine scratches down the middle. Put a Zagg Invisible Shield Glass on it right away. Lesson learned.

As it turns out, the Zagg Glass isn't as bad as I thought it would be, it's very thin and the edges are quite rounded so the finger glides over it much easier than the original or HDX.

Out of interest, can you still see the scratches with the protector on it, or does the adhesive fill them up?

Just to give people a heads up about the Zagg Glass - it too has an oleo phobic coating on it, and the coating on it can also scratch. My iPhone 6 + has a few scratches on the Zagg Glass cover. Granted...it's on the cover so it's not a huge deal, but they are still there. Don't buy the the cover expecting not to see scratches. But it to protect the actual screen and replace if necessary when it gets bad enough.

Of course, if you remove the cover then there's no scratches, and Zagg is amazing at replacing damaged or scratched covers...so it's not too big an issue.

I beg to differ, I have seen people drop a "caseless" iphone from a very short distance on the ground and have seen them crack badly.

I have always used full body protectors and have dropped my phone a few times from 3-5 feed onto a wood floor and have never had a single crack.

could it be luck...possibly, but to say they don't do squat is complete BS

Whatever you need to tell yourself in order to justify the purchase. Using anecdotal evidence and a small single-digit sampling pool is pretty convincing... <sarcasm>

I am for the first time going naked with the iPhone , its beautiful design why cover that up with a Bulky case or ugly looking screen protector, I have insurance through sprint and I have Apple care, so If i drop it break it lose it or its gets stolen I am covered

Not all cases are bulky, you do know this right? I didn't buy the phone for its beauty, I bought it for its functionality. What's the point of a beautiful phone that's broken.

Hi everyone. I ordered a screen protector from Green Onion Supply.

It's really good. As far as getting a case, I'm still on th fence.

I really don't care too much about scratches and scuffs on the back...it's the screen I'm looking at 99% of the time.

Can you offer any feedback on the Spigen Neo Hybrid Metal? Did Spigen send you the button insert or did they fix the design? Any loss of signal (as some have reported) using the aluminum bumper?

Love the Neo Metal Hybrid, very sleek and professional looking. I have no button issues and noted there was a slim insert already inside against the buttons when I received it.

I have no discernable signal loss. Sometimes when testing between on/off, I think I see one bar drop SOMETIMES, but when I test signal, I see no evidence of slower speeds either cell or wifi. Today I just took it off again and tested, and here in my hi-rise window office, it did drop one bar. However, 6 or 7 tests on/off showed no measurable change in speed. All were within normal range of each other and there was no pattern.

Well, talked to a Genius today about some issues with the accelerometer and got my phone swapped out.
Means my phone is now scratch free. Got a screen protector ready to put on once it's finished restoring from the backup now!

Always used them on mine and usually i know i made the right call. Because 12 months or so later the protectors have nicks and scuffs on them.

Although this year's protectors haven't been particularly great because of the design change, i still want to be able to put my phone anywhere without worrying about micro scratches and whatnot.

Consider this, those telling you that you don't need one won't be there to help you if something does happen. And things have been known to happen more often than not...as exemplified already by personal stories in this thread.

Also helps with resale value if you plan to sell to non-trade-in sites later. Buyers are less likely to give you money if you start describing the nature of scratch/scuff.

How scratch resistant is the iPhone 6 plus screen?

Wall from what I've seen via YouTube and in person it is a strong screen glass but I would still recommend a screen protector micro scratches will be something that WILL happen and deep scratches may or may not happen just depends on use and other factors I would assume

I am not a fan of screen protectors

I put one on my 6... first one since my 4S... and I hate it so much... it was fine the first few days (despite a single piece of dust under the screen and it's big... enough to be seen and a tiny bump) now there is a small welt of some sort in the middle of the screen that looks like a white spot when I wear polarized glasses and little silver flakes (probably my daughter's glitter) is stuck to it.

It's one of those wet application skins... blarg... might pull it off soon.

If it's stronger than the 5S then it's very strong. My 5S never had a screen protector and looks perfect until you look at a reflection under the sun... then you see that there are micro scratches most likely in the Oleophobic coating, (but I'm only guessing).
