Ok. It doesnt necessarily have to go there i believe but thats where binaries go so they can be accessed via terminal. Just make it yourself.

go into terminal and type: sudo mkdir -p /usr/local/bin

Then do as i say, put it in there, and change the permissions on it.

that worked, thanks! i should be able to figure the rest out... i hope lol

Ok. Here are modified batch rip and batch encode actions. See if this fixes and works. I cant test since dont really use them. Please back up your old ones first. Put them in same place as others.

Okay here are my complete results from testign all these changes.

1. Batch rip/Batch Encode. no change, still comes back and says API fails to get anyinfo. Treied on 10 Movies to Rip.

2. The newer Tag Movies, works partially. it doesnt grab the movie poster at all, and a few other fields that it used to grab.

So what I see so far (on my system), is it made some progress, but still not pulling all the same info it used to pull. has thier API changed so much and not offer same info? Would the source code to all of this help fix things right?

I don't think we shall see macjedi around. It's been a long time since he was around...

if your on Google Hangouts or such ping me at guntherm66@gmail.com an dwe can talk live on how to get this all working again.. if possible.

Problem

Could you help me? I'm having this problem below:

WARNING: Fairmount.app is currently listed as QUARANTINED because it's an application downloaded from the Internet. You must LAUNCH and AUTHORIZE Fairmount.app FIRST, before running this action. Will continue, but Action may fail if the OS prevents the app from launching.

WARNING: MakeMKV.app is currently listed as QUARANTINED because it's an application downloaded from the Internet. You must LAUNCH and AUTHORIZE MakeMKV.app FIRST, before running this action. Will continue, but Action may fail if the OS prevents the app from launching.

Does anyone know how I can fix this?

Regards,

Which specific service did you choose? The Add Tag and Rename and Add Tag (search) work or me. The Add Tags (filename) was the one i was having problems with.

There API has changed. The way they feed data has been changed, some has been lost, and some added. But there are no much more specific API calls for the information. Again, if we do a Add Tags (search) it adds more tag info then the Add Tags (filename) which has some nulls, and i don't think adds posters.[/QUOTE]

Ill have to look into batch rip/encode but i did replace every place I saw the old API calls with the new ones. Perhaps i missed one or i implemented it wrong in the actual program.

Should just try going into your Applications folder and launching each app once on its own? Usually when you open an app for the first time, it asks you if its ok. That usually does it.

Yea i was usign the Filename. Yea that oen dont work.

As far as the Batch Encode/Rip. The batch Rip no longers works at all. I get somethign about directories not defined etc. I will try and capture the screen. So somethign in those two actions is now crashing the workflow.

I did it. But not solve. My computer is a Mac Mini OSX Server 10.8.5

OS X Mavericks

Has anyone using Batch Rip Actions for Automator migrated to OS X Mavericks and, if so, what is your experience? Does it work? Are there any issues?

Batch encode is not working for me under Mavericks

Greetings!

Sorry it's been a while. I've been on a mission for the Jedi Council and couldn't get a WiFi signal ;)

I've updated all the actions for Mavericks and TMDBv3. Should have a beta posted for testing shortly.

Thanks!

OMG he lives. Mac.jedi 2 things:

1. Where is the donate button...id like to click the hell out of it.
2. You have utilized me before as a test subject..I would again offer that to you. Ive rebuilt my entire everything around hazel and some of your actions...im pumped!

Has MakeMKV replaced Fairmount as the DVD ripper app?

Hey scifi!

Yeah, unfortunately it looks like the developers of Fairmount have pulled the plug on it. There are a few variants out there, but I haven't had a chance to work with them. So until I can find a replacement, MakeMKV is the only option with the Batch Rip action. It's freeware for DVD usage, but BD usage is paid. With libdvdcss, HandBrake can go straight to mp4 like it always has. There are also a lot of other options, RipIt.app and http://www.macdvdripperpro.com are good options.

Thanks!

^ Beyond trashing the old application anything further I need to do to uninstall the services that go along with it?

To completely uninstall the services, click on the info symbol in the toolbar and click "Uninstall". Then you can trash the app. This will remove everything.

If you Click "install services" in a new version, it will move your existing services to the trash and replace them with the new ones.

Either way, should work.

Hello,
I have a folder full of movies in VIDEO_TS format and would like to run an action to use MakeMKV to create a lossless mkv wrapper. I do NOT want to reencode them using Handbrake. Is this possible using Batch Rip Actions for Automator? Many thanks!

Hi doccello, the Batch Rip (Finder) Service will make lossless MKVs of each title if you "check" the "use makeMKV for DVD" option. Read the help or tutorial on how the batch rip (finder) service works.

Thank you jedi! I had checked the "use MakeMKV for DVD" option and tried to run batch rip (finder) but when I selected the video_ts folder (or main movie folder which contains the video_ts folder) and tried to run the batch rip (finder) service nothing seemed to happen. By that, I mean terminal doesn't open up like it does when I try to run batch encode. When I try from within the the application menu the same things happens...or better, doesn't happen. Terminal doesn't launch and nothing appears to happen. I'll take a look at the help menu. Thanks for the quick reply.

My files reside on an externally mounted Drobo named "Drobo" ...not sure if it matters that I am not inserting a physical dvd into the optical drive or if my video_ts files reside on an external drive.

edit: Also, is there a way to output files to the same source folder instead of one predefined folder? I have hundreds of movies I would like to batch and have the mkv saved to the same movie folder where the video_ts resides.

Sorry, my mistake, Batch Rip only works on optical media :(

Sorry, had to run before I finished my reply… Batch Rip Actions for Automator was built really to backup discs and create mp4s for Apple devices. MKVs for Plex and such was really just a bi-product for creating mp4s from blu-ray.

Batch Encode (Finder) can do mkv's using Handbrake, but you'll have to use custom arguments. I'm not sure what settings would produce a lossless file, but a good place to start would probably be the High Profile setting and modifying it to output MKV (-f mkv):

Code:
-e x264 -q 20.0 -a 1,1 -E faac,copy:ac3 -B 160,160 -6 dpl2,auto -R Auto,Auto -D 0.0,0.0 --audio-copy-mask aac,ac3,dtshd,dts,mp3 --audio-fallback ffac3 -f mkv -4 --decomb --loose-anamorphic --modulus 2 -m --x264-preset medium --h264-profile high --h264-level 4.1

For moving your output files, you could use Hazel or another script to move the finished files to your source folders … using the output file name to find the correct folder and the color label to determine if they're finished processing.

I hope this helps.

Thanks,

mac.jedi

Thanks jedi once again.

Is there a way to modify Batch Rip Actions for Automator to use video_ts folders on a hard disk? I ask because I don't think HandBrake does lossless, and reencoding takes hours whereas MakeMKV takes maybe 5-10 minutes to make an mkv out of a video_ts folder; but there are no batch operations available. Batch Actions for Automator would be the perfect candidate for something like this considering all the things it already can do. I'm sure this would be of tremendous help not only to me, but anyone else with a large dvd collection on a hard disk.

I use Plex, and the new Plex Home Theater won't play video_ts any longer. I need a way to batch convert all my media to mkv, and Batch Actions comes the closest to what I need.

I would look at a virtual CD program that would fool batch actions into thinking it was a CD then. I did a quick google search, and others are looking as well, but I would think something virtual would let you emulate the contents so batch rip actions could use it. Go in that direction and see where it goes.
