I think that’s why it starts making a sound by itself if it has being separated from its owner for too long and it starts moving.

It doesn’t make a sound by itself. You have to have an iPhone which has to alert you that you are being tracked. And if you can’t find it in your bag you can make it beep to find it easier.

LOL, I can’t believe so many of you guys think that a device can track you when it only has a range of 30 meters at most. For that to work the person tracking would have to stay within 30 meters of you. If they stay within 30 meters of you, do they really need an AirTag? LMAO. The AirTags are for finding your keys, remotes, or other items you misplace around your home. They are not James Bond style trackers.
But that isn’t what Apple is saying. The airtag will potentially interact with the millions and millions of iPhones out there and send its location back to you. This is not a tile.

What if I let someone borrow my keys and it’s with them all day... will the air tag in the keys send them a text and start making noise the whole day? Or the person can turn it off.

mine too, and when we're stuck in traffic some paranoid old people will assume that they're being stalked and disable our airtags)
They will just mute the alarm they are getting on their own device. The AirTag still keeps working.

Once they've taken your bag and got away, it's over. As someone who has lived in or next to a big city their entire life, the police will NOT help you track down stolen property, even if you have a map leading them right to it.
Police are not necessary to dispense justice.

If you put the airtag in someone's ass, will it beep?
To paraphrase Clark Griswold, bend over and lets find out.

Does she come home and bitch you out? If not then who cares?

It does make a sound by itself:

An AirTag that has been separated from its owner for a long period of time will make an audible noise when it’s moved, as part of a privacy feature to let you know there’s a tag present.

The won’t get an alarm on their device as those alarms only happen if the airtag is moving with someone and their owner isn’t there.
In the situation described, the owner is there and the tag isn’t moving with the other people, so no alarm.

This is not what Apple sais on its site. It states you have to actively make it beep if you have an unknown AirTag in your vicinity and can’t find it.

so these airtags do not protect you from thieves? They are only for you to find which of your beds sucked your keys? Or for people who have alzheimer. And what about if i'm driving with a friend, can disable his/her airtags?

The thing is if one puts it on or in a back pack and said item gets stolen the thief generally dosent hang on to those items for long- they rummage through looking for valuables and toss the bag- that is unless its a Louis Vuitton or Coach for example then they might keep said bag. Most thieves know that when they swipe an iPhone the first thing they do is shut it off- just ask anyone who has had a phone taken its unable to be found about the moment you notice its gone. This will be another thing they will look for dispose of as fast as possible.

No, those options only appear if an airtag is travelling with you and the owner isn’t there.
If you carry someone’s bag for a while when they aren’t there then you would be able to do so.

What about this? My wife put one in her purse to keep track of it. I work from home. When she’s going to work, she leaves her purse at home. Will I get annoying lost messages all day long? Or will it learn not to produce them around your own home?
Why don't you just call your wife that she forgot her purse at home at the first beep and has she disable the sound?

Coin cell – because Apple is committed to the environment. 😆 (They last a year, apparently).

YOU can turn it off before let him borrowing yours.
