1 - Don't upgrade, stay stuck not being able to do anything with the app and wait for one of the geniuses around here to patch it to make the servers over at cablevision think that the app is up to date and have everything work as it once did.
Inside the Cablevision app, find the file "info.plist" open that up to edit it and change the "BundleVersion" from 2.0.1 to 2.0.2.
This will make your current version of the app masquerade as version 2.0.2 --and maybe that's enough to trick the Cablevision server. It's worth a shot ?
So changing cydia app folder name will make it not detect jailbreak and log in, but VPN is not working anymore on 2.0.2 it says not on home network
Haven't tried your vpn patch but I did find another solution that works and i'm watching live tv again:
1. Remove the 2 patches installed for 2.0.1 (the JB patch and the VPN patch)
2. Use 3G Unrestrictor or My3G (Im using 3G Unrestrictor) and add the optimum app to the list.
3. Change Cydia folder name to bypass JB detection
4. Connect to VPN
5. Watch live tv anywhere again
6. Curse out cablevision in victory celebration
Credit goes to eslash on sinful iphone for this solution.
Thank you hanteck your VPN worked beautifully!!
Coleman i was able to delete those patches in cydia under packages.
Did you need to do the steps I posted even with installing hantecks VPN patch?
Does having his VPN patch provide a better solution than what I found or is it basically the same as far as usage? I guess the only difference is not having to put the Optimum app on the 3G Unrestrictor list. Is there any benefit to not having it on the list as opposed to having it on?
Still searching for a JB patch so we don't have to keep on renaming Cydia in ifile, although for as often as I use the live tv anywhere ability and how quick it is to edit the cydia folder, its not killer to not have it.
This works for me well, I am using Optimum 2.0.2, Windows 7, and an iPhone 4 over 3G. (I have 3G Unrestrictor)
Okay so renaming the cydia folder is annoying I agree. But I have a solution for those who can't get cydia operating properly.
1. Locate Cydia.app (and rename it, if you haven't done so already).
2. Locate Info.plist and Rename the following properties:
a. CFBundleExecutable: Cydia2b. CFBundleIdentifier: com.saurik.Cydia2c. CFBundleName: Cydia23. Finally rename the file Cydia to Cydia2 (you can find it in Cydia.app)
Now Cydia + Optimum should work in harmony!
Also:
If you are using a theme this will normally break the icon.
You need to go to var/stash/Themes/(the theme you use)/Bundles/
Then look for com.saurik.Cydia, if it isn't their create it. Place the icon you want in that folder. And rename the folder appropriately. (in my case it would be com.saurik.Cydia2 .
I hope this helps anyone who was having trouble with both apps.
Is it seeing that it's jailbroken or it's seeing the VPN?Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_8 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8E401 Safari/6533.18.5)
I have version 2.0 and I still can't get it to work over VPN. Used the patch, used 3G unrestrictor. Nothing works. Any ideas?

The jb patch worked. After I connect to the VPN it keeps saying I'm not on the network. But I know I am since I can reach my local pc's and networking gear.
The Optimum app is forcing an update. Has anyone done it yet? Is it going to affect my VPN?
