I am getting the same error message as shown below. I have a Linksys router and have done the port forwarding properly. I think this has to do with GRE packets, but I am not sure what is to be done now. Btw I am trying this out with my iMac and iphone.

I am also trying to set up a vpn tunnel so that I can view my cablevision channels on my Ipad while away from home. I followed the instructions but can't get it to work. I am using EASYVPN on an IMAC , but when i try to connect from my Ipad, i get the following messages logged in EasyVPN

Just an update......... it worked for me in my hotel room !

Unfortunately two issues

It takes anywhere from 1 to 10 tries to make it connect

And

My hotel wireless is too slow to keep a channel without skipping (but that is not the iPads fault)

So thanks for the help by the way !

If the hotel wifi is slow that's probably why it took a few trys to connect. I tried it at a Starbucks and McDonalds WiFi and it worked very well. The channels were clear and didn't skip/freeze.

It is exactly the same. I even tried putting my iMac on the DMZ in my router to see whether a totally exposed machine helps, but not so.

You are running a Apple router and I am running a Linksys with the stock firmware. I will screw around a bit more in both my mac and the router and see whether I can sort something out and keep you guys posted.

Disable the VPN server software then reboot your mac and enable the software, then test connecting.

No problem. I have windows 7 installed on my MacBook Pro. In the weekend I'll boot to windows and figure out a window solution.

I made a new connection in windows 7 for a VPN, the vpn worked fine but didn't work for optimum app for live tv, if you have a solution for windows that would be great :)

If you are watching LiveTV over VPN DO NOT INSTALL THE Optimum LiveTV app update. I installed it and it breaks watching LiveTV over VPN. Luckily I had the app backed up and reinstalled the older version back on my iPad.

......ah crap.

yea =/ yesterday, and since i just got this ipad i dont have a back up of 1.0

Check your trash folder. I just fished out my 1.0 version from there. Damn cablevision strikes again.

PS: Just confirmed that cablevision are as@@@@@es. New version DOESN'T work over VPN. Back to old version.

what do you mean the trash folder? from where?

Did u have version 1.0 in itunes? THe way it works is when itunes on mac or computer updates apps from app store, it moves old copy of the app to trash folder on mac or recycle bin on PC. So you can fish it out from there. If you never had it in itunes before then you are out of luck.

ahh yea, i never got to sync the app yet to itunes :( i updated to 1.0.1 on the ipad before i got the chance to sync, I just found this thread last night when i was trying to figure out how to do the VPN for the app. No wonder the VPN wasnt working, i was already on 1.0.1

Yep then you are screwed

It does look though that new version of the app is more responsive then version 1. but i'm going back to 1.0 for VPN. Its more important for me to have ability to watch it when I'm outside the confines of my apartment. When are these morons going to come to an agreement and stop putting these idiotic restrictions in place

Nope. Even though they are free they are DRMd to your itunes account. Its not going to work
