Hi everyone,
I have a Mac mini Mid-2011 (Model 5,1) with an Intel Core i5-2415M CPU, Intel HD Graphics 3000 iGPU, and 8GB of DDR3 RAM.
Currently, I am running Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC from an external SSD (as Windows To Go). The system runs fine, but it is stuck using the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter. There is no hardware acceleration, and the interface is laggy.
I previously managed to get full graphics acceleration with the Boot Camp 4.0.4033 driver package under Windows 7, but Windows 7 is no longer viable for me due to software compatibility and functionality limitations in 2026. I absolutely need to stay on Windows 10 (or 11), but I need proper video drivers.
My goal is to eventually move this Windows 10 setup to an internal drive (HDD/SSD via SATA), but first, I need to figure out the graphics driver situation. Every attempt to install original Intel HD 3000 drivers (Windows 7/8 versions) under Windows 10 leads to compatibility errors or system instability.
Does anyone know a proven workaround, a registry tweak, or a specific custom modded driver (like community-patched .inf files, NBR, or Catalyst packages) to force Intel HD 3000 hardware acceleration to work under Windows 10 or Windows 11 on this generation of Mac mini?
I am open to any installation methods (Legacy/MBR, UEFI, or deploying Windows To Go on the internal SATA drive). Any help, guides, or links to working modded drivers would be highly appreciated!

P.S. Please note that this post was prepared and translated with the help of an AI assistant. I am not a native English speaker, and while I have a deep, inquisitive tech-hobbyist interest in fixing this machine, I might need slightly detailed, step-by-step guidance. Thank you for understanding!

With the drivers mentioned above, OpenGL 3.1 is enabled on both Windows 10 and Windows 11 on my MacBook Pro Late 2011 with Intel HD 3000.
Thank you so much for your help!
Actually, I have already stumbled upon and tried this specific custom driver by Ket while running Windows 10 from my external SSD, but unfortunately, it didn't work in that configuration.
However, your reply made me realize that the issue is most likely caused by the USB interface/Windows To Go environment limitations blocking the low-level driver initialization.
Based on your suggestion, I am going to clone my current setup to the internal SATA HDD tomorrow and try installing this modded driver again directly on the local storage. I will keep you posted on the results!
