Got my 2017 512GB 15" MacBook Pro back from keyboard repair 2 weeks ago. Yesterday space bar got stuck. Sad thing is I don't even use the keyboard much since the laptop is connected to external monitor and keyboard most of the time.
I actually just got this done on my faulty MBP 13” and the keyboard they replaced mine with is in fact slightly different than my previous one. Look at the difference in control and option keys. Not sure if internals are but this is definitely a different top case part number than my last.
I had my 2017 MBP ‘15 repaired at the Apple store this past week . A pleasant surprise that I don’t see mentioned is that the “top case” part they installed to replace the keyboard included a new battery. I had no issues with my battery so a replacement was not reqd.

I noticed the same thing, the keyboard is indeed slightly different. the keys feel like they have every so slightly more feedback but its possible i might be imagining it. i only had an issue with the period key and i have a 2016. I believe that the issues is mostly cause by debris getting under the keys and if you keep your keyboard clean you won't have the issue. My other 2018 work macbook pro has worked flawlessly for the past year with no keyboard issues.

I know at least pertaining the the 15" MacBook Pro, the 2018 models had an "revised" keyboard compared to the older ones.
It's amazing how Apple completely failed with the butterfly keyboard design... really, there's no need to reinvent the wheel. What's more amazing was this keyboard design was introduced on the 12" MacBook where A. it had reliability issues and B. no one liked it... so they decided to use it on the Pros years later???
Reliability issues aside, I don't know anyone who likes the feel of the butterfly keyboards compared to the older scissor-type MacBook Keyboards. I also think most people would rather have a quality feeling keyboard over the .000001 inches of height they can cut off the case. I suppose then that the case is thinner and can't fit standard I/O ports, they can sell you heinously overpriced adapters. Seriously, every 3-4 years when I buy a new MacBook I have to spend another $100 on various adapters... absurd.
The best keyboard they ever made was the PowerBook G4 aluminum keyboard (which was carried over to the pre-unibody MacBook Pros). Those were among the best keyboards in the history of keyboards.
Upon reading this whole thread, I just want to put this out there for ANYONE who may need a replacement keyboard. It's best to find the most convenient place.
