How to Get iOS 27's New Siri AI: Join the Waitlist First

If its only available in english is that only english us or will other versions of english work too like english uk and aus?
Apple released the first betas of iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27 today, introducing a more capable version of Siri called Siri AI. Developers are able to download the betas and try Siri out, but there is a waitlist.
After updating to iOS 27, developers will need to open the Settings app, go to the Apple Intelligence section, and opt in to the waitlist to get access to Siri.
There is no word yet on how long the wait will be, but Apple used a similar waitlist when rolling out Apple Intelligence in iOS 18. It could be a matter of hours for some of the first developers to update to iOS 27.
The new Siri and Apple Intelligence features that Apple introduced today are available on all devices that support Apple Intelligence, but some on-device capabilities will be limited to newer iPhones, iPads, and Macs.
Siri AI is free, but Apple does have daily limits on some capabilities like image generation. Opting into an iCloud+ subscription plan increases AI limits. Siri AI is limited to English, and it is not available in the European Union on the iPhone or the iPad, but EU users can try it on Mac. Siri AI is not available in China.

I've got about 84 gigs of messages and 15 gigs of photos on the phone I deployed 27 on. That could be part of the reason.
indexing has nothing to do with waitlist. many people reported indexing completed yesterday but still they are waiting for siri. others reported that have new siri but indexing still going on

In the past Apple has been quite specific in singling out US English for some features. The fact they just said ‘English’ on this occasion seems to mean it’s all variants.

I just got new Siri, well not sure when I did. No notifications that it was now available only noticed as I had the new Siri app installed on my phone. So guessing that’s a bug. Strangely it’s changed my English from NZ to US, if I try and change it, it removes new Siri and goes back to original Siri ( not even the previous version

Just got the push notification for new Siri on my iPhone Air that is set to English Canada, and still indexing. Joined the waitlist at around 1pm Pacific time.

Just got it in the UK. How do I get the new voices? That section just looks like the old one at the moment.

Seems how much indexing your phone has done really changes the results. When I got it on my phone Siri couldn’t find the info. A few hours later I tried again and came back with a result. Also this new Siri is great. What it should have been years ago now

The new voice setting is there, but no one can edit it yet. So will be a later beta.

I've seen a YouTube video where someone chooses one of the new voices (there are only two US voices) but he can't change the speed or intonation as the options are greyed out. However, I can't even see the menu item he taps on which is 'Expressive voices Preview'.

after over 50 hours on the waitlist I’ve received a notification that it’s ready. Using a 17PM. Indexing still going on. The Siri voice is only 2 options male or female. No ability to modify yet.
Still on the waitlist, though Mark Gurman revealed that he used a command line workaround to get around it.
I tried it myself (Grok provided the command in the thread) and I am still on the waitlist while my phone is still indexing. I can play with the Siri app on the Mac and it's pretty nice so far.

Anyone having trouble getting the new Siri consistently across devices? I've installed the iOS27 beta on my iPhone 17 Pro, while leaving my daily iPhone Air on iOS 26. It seems I have to have both on the same language to avoid Siri resetting itself.
So, for example, I wanted to keep my Air on UK English, but that changes Siri across all my devices. So, I've changed everything to US English for now, but that seems to have knocked my Mac (also now on the MacOS27 beta) off the new Siri.
There must be some background sync that eventually puts it all back together as my Mac did have the new Siri this morning but messing around with Siri's language made it revert to the old Siri again.
Also, I briefly saw the screen in US English (on my 17 Pro) to get the new more expressive Siri voices, but because I restarted my Air which had UK English on it at the time, it made the expressive voice option disappear on the iPhone 17 Pro! Argh!

Say what? Maybe some of the first few to join the waitlist had that happen but the vast majority of us are cooling our heels waiting.
Got access to Siri overnight yesterday, and my phone is still indexing 3 days later.
I also have the "Set up Talk to Siri" prompt in settings that doesn't do anything and won't go away

Indexing finished on M4 iPad and iPhone 17 Pro but not on iPad mini. Been on waitlist since 10pm on Monday and no sign of change yet. M4 iPad is asking to setup Talk to Siri (done) but no change. UK based and set to English UK. Hopefully we'll see some change over night.
Exactly same situation. I am sure the next developer build would address few things.

quick update : indexing completed earlier today. Siri has been generally good. Still see the “Set up Talk to Siri” which does nothing.

3 days and a bit and Siri AI available now. Notification appeared on lock screen and in settings. Expressive voices clickable but not working yet. iPad mini still indexing but has the update too.
