Apple released the first betas of iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27 today, introducing a more capable version of Siri called Siri AI. Developers are able to download the betas and try Siri out, but there is a waitlist.

After updating to iOS 27, developers will need to open the Settings app, go to the Apple Intelligence section, and opt in to the waitlist to get access to Siri.

There is no word yet on how long the wait will be, but Apple used a similar waitlist when rolling out Apple Intelligence in iOS 18. It could be a matter of hours for some of the first developers to update to iOS 27.

The new Siri and Apple Intelligence features that Apple introduced today are available on all devices that support Apple Intelligence, but some on-device capabilities will be limited to newer iPhones, iPads, and Macs.

Siri AI is free, but Apple does have daily limits on some capabilities like image generation. Opting into an iCloud+ subscription plan increases AI limits. Siri AI is limited to English, and it is not available in the European Union on the iPhone or the iPad, but EU users can try it on Mac. Siri AI is not available in China.

Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice...you can't get fooled again Tim Apple

Alpha is the new Beta. Beta will really be the first public release, with the .2 version being the real solid release...coming this fall LOL
this iOS version doesnt add many features other than the AI tbh, doubt it'll be as buggy as previous betas. wont be joining for now just in case tho lol

I think people understand this. However, this has been a feature/app that has been in development and announced for a very long time. To announce it again and gatekeep again behind a waitlist is understandably making people mad.
People would be more mad if the whole system crashes ...

Year 3 of broken promises. Usually that results in a break-up. From what I understand 17 Pro only one supporting the "advanced" AI features.

I’m curious about how long it’ll take for the first people to be invited off the waiting list. Will it be minutes like the previous time for the first people, or days?

So I purchase an iPhone 16 pro max with the promise to be able to use Apple Intelligence, to only be told it was coming soon... and now its here but the iPhone 16 is not compatible with it?

I smell a class action lawsuit coming.
Did you misread something? Apple says iPhones all the way back to iPhone 11 are compatible. It was in the keynote.

Why do I think the public might not get to use this new Siri AI until 2027...
I am lucky if I see any of the features they talked about in 2 years.

Thanks for nothing Apple, the entire keynote basically worthless. The long overdue 'new' Siri
(AI) won't be coming to the EU (and not on iPad, wtf?!).... also not in China but there they're working on the regulation - so in China they bend over (and trust me they do sell out for it) and the EU data & consumer protection rules are too strict for them sure....

before anyone says anything on it - assistant on android (now Gemini) has been running circles around the unchanged SIRI for years - and they have and continue to ship in the EU too. LMFAO

This will get interesting. You cant market a phone as “built for Apple Intelligence”, announce the feature for the device, delay the feature, and then drop support for device.

I didnt really care about Apple Intelligence when it was announced for iP16. However, after what they showed today, I will benefit from the new Siri AI. I have my dev betas downloading now. Hopefully I can get in the waitlist quickly.
