Walmart is selling the refurb ST iphone 5 for $444 right now...a pretty good deal although it is a refurb.

My question is why wont MMS work if I am buying the phone through their service/retailer?

It will. But it will run on verizon 3G network instead of tmobile/att

That's not a bad thing! Verizon has great service in my area (and I am paying triple the price for my wife to have her Verizon plan)

So basically no LTE since I am using Verizon towers... no big deal at all honestly.

Thanks for the info!

The verizon iphone 5s should work as it now has all the LTE bands and is unlocked. The 5 was not capable of using LTE, as it did not have those carriers LTE bands. Many people are using their verizon 5s on at&t and t-mobile with their LTE.

Correct, the Verizon iPhone 5S will work on LTE as well, given the new bands. I am currently using my Verizon 5S on an AT&T straight talk SIM and receiving LTE.

No problem. I was going to go this route but decided on staying with my carrier that didn't have the iPhone and got an android(which I don't like as much as the iPhone) lol

One more quick one for you. If I picked up a 5S (model a1533) would I still be using the verizon towers, and maybe even have LTE working since it has all of the bands?

I do not have to switch for a couple of months, so hopefully at that time I can find a cheap 5S for my wife since she loves the gold.

No you would not as you would be bringing your own device. You would use AT&T/Tmobile depending on what sim you order. Also MMS and some other things may not work.

Thank you sir! I will stick to whatever is on their site. I hope the refurb is still available when I am ready to swtich!

Question

Does lte work on an old sim card if you cut it down? i've had straight talk since february and kinda don't wanna go through the hassle of ordering another sim, waiting and activating a new sim.

T Mobile Iphone 5 with straight talk

Hello I use ST with my AT&T 4S without any problems and a friend of mine want me to help them set up their TMobile iphone5 on straight talk. Is there any additional steps needed. We have the nano card cutter and a ST sim card(not sure if I need to buy a Straight talk AT&T or a T Mobile card). Does anybody know if I can use the att.mvno settings with a tmobile card or does the tmobile ST card have its own unique apn settings? Lastly, will the LTE settings be available with the 4S and do I need to order a new sim card for that?

Thank you

If I already have a CDMA Iphone 5 on Straight Talks network, can I transfer my service to one of the LTE SIM Cards? And if so, does anyone know how long the transfer takes?

Does ST sell a nano, or do you just have to get a micro and cut it down?

My phone is being unlocked tomorrow (or so I'm told), I'll post an update on whether or not it worked for me (I ordered 2 of the LTE cards) as soon as possible. I have a T-Mobile card for the SIM swap.

You have to get Micro and cut it down.

So as you all may know, Straight talk is now offering LTE to BYOP AT&T sim customers. Here is proof that LTE is now working with the iPhone 5. I tried calling straight talk several times and spent countless hours on the phone trying to get LTE to work. I ordered a new sim card and still nothing. I finally reached a rep who know what she was talking about and stated that to get LTE to work, Straight Talk created new APN settings for the iPhone 5. LTE is available in my area (Fresno,CA) and well I can pick up LTE almost everywhere I drive around. Enjoy! Below are picutures showing LTE working.

How do I know if I got the right APN settings? I went to the site unlockit and there's 2 options for Straight Talk, 1 Straight Talk - new and another Straight Talk - old and I downloaded the Straight Talk - new and installed profile. Did I do it right?

Anyone know what LTE band Straight Talk (or AT&T I'm guessing?) use?

Trying to work out if my UK iPhone 5S will work with their LTE when I visit the states. I know I can get Straight Talk AT&T 3G, Straight Talk T-Mobile Edge (no 3G as no 1700/2100 band).

Not sure about LTE.

AT&T uses LTE bands 4 and 17 I believe. I checked in field test mode on my factory unlocked iPhone 5 (the same as AT&T) and it is using band 17 currently, on ST.

Also, just to add some of my own speed tests, I have been getting some excellent speeds, faster than my 10mbps home connection.

Has anybody been able to use Visual Voicemail on iPhone 5s with Straight Talk? If so, what carrier iPhone 5s did you purchase? I have the Verizon iPhone 5s and everything is working well with Straight Talk except for the Visual Voicemail. A lot of people were having problems with Visual Voicemail with Straight Talk and it seems like they cannot fix it. I'm still waiting to hear from them if they can fix mine.

Also has anybody ran into trouble using the Navigon app with it's Traffic feature? I get this error message saying that No traffic info is being received due to maybe the following feature as maybe Straight Talk SIM card is blocked? I mean Apple or Goodle map doesn't seem to have problem displaying Traffic info.

I don't believe ANY MVNO's support Visual Voicemail.

I have Straight Talk LTE, so should Visual Voicemail work?

Straight Talk is a MVNO. So no, as of yet, it's not supported on BYOP iPhones. (Not sure if the Official Straight Talk iPhone that uses the Verizon network even supports it)

The only prepaid networks that support Visual Voicemail are Official iPhone Carriers, Prepaid services. (T-Mobile/AT&T/Verizon)

My signal on my iPhone shows I have LTE, is that the same as MVNO?

Wahoo! Just noticed my phone was displaying "No Service" so I put the new LTE SIM in and loaded the APN settings you provided (using the T-Mobile SIM swap method) and it works! It's about twice as fast - before I was getting about 3.2Mbps on average. Thank you!

How did you get SIM swap to work? Every time I try it, it tells me that the phone has to be activated until I put my Straight Talk SIM back in...

You have to get Micro and cut it down.

That's what I did, but I think you have to do the Tmobile SIM swap which ain't working for me...
