Did you install the old profile or the new one at unlockit.co.nz?

If you installed the old one, it will only work with that profile and you cannot enable LTE with it.

Well I downloaded the new one, so I guess I should be fine then?

iPhone 5C & 5S now available on ST's website! It says LTE works, so does this mean this is a phone using Verizon towers and thus having Verizon LTE? If yes, I am buying ASAP!

Update: Spoke to a rep and it looks like the 5C will be compatible with Verizon's towers with working LTE!! The problem is the 5S is stuck to at&t, why i do not know but I am looking at the 5C now for my wife!

Please Help

I have a iPhone 5 T-Mobile (Unlocked by T-Mobile).

I now have ST with the newer LTE sim. I just got it a few days ago.

I updated the phone to 7.0.4 and itunes had a carrier update that I installed which chaned the provider in the top left from HOME to TFW.

Data works, imessage works, facetime works, but NO MMS to non iphone users!

I have even used the sim swap method and it has all of the correct settings.

apn: tfdata

MMS
APN: tfdata

MMSC: http://mms-tf.net
MMS Proxy: mms3.tracfone.com
MMS max Message size: 1048576
MMS UA Prof URL: http://www.apple.com/mms/uaprof.rdf

What am I doing wrong? I talked with ST and they are telling me my phone must not be compatible. I have also went to their link the provide to download the APN profile and no luck with that either same thing.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated,
Ryan

iphone 5 stratight talk

I was told by Straight talk that an iphone 5 that was originally activated by Verizon would not work on the ST network. I called on another day prior & was told that yes it would work. I am confused as to why it wouldn't work? & what would be required? a nano sim card to activate? where would these be purchased? Any direction and clarification would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
JLaw

This has been discussed before. Basically a Verizon iphone 5 will work with a ST sim card (micro and cut it down) BUT it does not have the correct bands to run at&t LTE

So if you do decide to use your current iphone 5 you can get at&t towers/coverage but you will only get 3G/4G internet and no LTE service as the phone does not have the band. I would sell and buy an at&t/unlocked version to gain LTE support.

Edit: You can buy it on Straighttalk.com I got a sim for 6.99 free overnight shipping

I have an (AT&T) iPhone 5 running iOS 6.0. I bought the ST sim card in October 2012. Last month I had to do the change to tfdata to get the data working again, but, it was still saying 4G.

Last night it changed from 4G to LTE and I'm getting speeds of 16mbps down and 4mbps up vs 7/1.5 when I last tested in November.

Are those LTE service levels or do I need to swap out the sim card to use the full potential of the service?

i have an iphone 5 and i am running ios 7.1 beta 2 and i am on straight talk. i only get 3g at the house and LTE when i am in the city. i got one of their new 6.99 sim cards the at&t one. cut it down to fit my iphone. everything seems to run great i never had to download an apn profile like most ppl on here i have read. So best bet is to go out and get one of the 2 new sim cards ST offers and they work amazing.

I am not 100% sure, but I don't believe you can use a Verizon iPhone (which is CDMA) with Straight Talk's BYOP (Bring Your Own Phone) SIM card program (which uses GSM). I'm sure someone will correct me here if I'm wrong.

I am using a "Verizon" iPhone5 on ST on att sim

So I just signed up with ST and bought an iPhone 5. Turns out that it does not support LTE and will only have 3G. Am I SOL? Can I do anything to get the LTE? Thanks-

which flavor did you get: VZ or ATT? What nanoSIM are you using? Can't give advice without details...

will unlocked verizon iphone 5 work on ST 4g lte?

Please forgive my tech ignorance as I'm sure this question has been asked before. I would like to buy an unlocked verizon iphone 5, but I'm concerned that it will not operate on ST 4g lte. Will the newest ST sim cards fix that issue or am I better off buying an unlocked at&t iphone 5? Thanks in advance for any help and insight.

to the best of my knowledge, only ATT nanoSIMS get LTE on straight talk

Correction for you and those using Straight Talk:

In order to get LTE on Straight Talk / Net10, one must have a AT&T/T-Mobile/GSM Unlocked iPhone 5/5C/5S [iPhone 5 Model A1428 | iPhone 5C Model A1532 / A1456| iPhone 5S Model A1533 / A1457] as only these models will support LTE.

Note* Verizon iPhone 5C/5S Support Full AT&T/T-Mobile LTE bands, however Verizon iPhone 5 DOES NOT.

Those getting the iPhone 5 from Straight Talk / Net10 or Walmart --- You are getting the Verizon iPhone 5 A1429 model which does not support Band 4/17 LTE therefore you will only get 3G and that too on VERIZON Network, NOT ON AT&T / T-Mobie. However you can continue paying walmart your $25/month phone fee, and cancel your 3G service, buy a AT&T Compatible SIM from Straight Talk / Net10 BYOP program and pop it in to get AT&T HSPA+ service which is faster than Verizons 3G.

hope that helps

Ah! thanks for clarifying!

For those of you thinking about making this switch all I can say is do it! I have been a loyal Verizon customer for many years and made the switch 2 months ago. I have not had a single issue thus far. The only thing noticeable is that I now have an extra $60 per month to spend on something else!

So what do you need? Well first get an AT&T SIM from Straight Talk and use the below SIM cutter from Amazon. This cutter is very well made. When I first saw the price of the cutter I expected a piece of junk but this thing is rock solid!

What's the difference between buying an iphone 5S or 5C from the Straight talk website as opposed to Walmart.com? AT&T coverage is great in my area, so would it better to buy an unlocked phone from Apple or just get one from the walmart or ST website?

Quick Question

Anyone know if I have a T-Mobile iPhone 5 if I can get AT&T's LTE through Straight Talk? I have Walmart Family mobile now and I get 4G but it isn't particularly fast... If I can get LTE for $5 bucks more a month I think it would be worth it. Thanks.

I just got back onto ST [AT&T SIM] and enjoying the real 3G [Faux 4G] and LTE.

Also I do like the fact that it shows "3G" icon rather than "4G" which was deceiving anyway since all AT&T and others did was rename 3G to 4G....Only T-Mobile had the right to name their 1700MHz 4G as it was the closest to 4G however even they decided to rename all their 3G network to 4G.

Ya you will get LTE.

Also purchase the ST 3 month refills from walmart @ $125.99....depending on your location [Tax] it could be just $3 more to get LTE :D

I purchased a Micro SIM, cut it down to Nano and got LTE...no issues

I'm 99.9% positive that the iPhone 5C/5S Sold on StraightTalk.com is the GSM model [Same as AT&T/T-Mobile] and will only have access to LTE via AT&T SIM --- NOT VIA VERIZON

Update: Spoke to a rep and it looks like the 5C will be compatible with Verizon's towers with working LTE!! The problem is the 5S is stuck to at&t, why i do not know but I am looking at the 5C now for my wife!

I would not take the reps words seriously...they lack knowledge more than 99% of the time and also are always off topic as they are bad listeners.

It appears that that iPhone 5S/5C sold on walmart.com and ST website are all A1533 GSM models [I don't know if they are locked or not...if they are...they may be locked to AT&T or TFW]. As ST only has agreement with AT&T to provide LTE service and not with any other carrier.

Straight talk purchased refurbished iPhone 5...need help!

I purchased this phone directly from ST and am only getting 3g on Verizon. I spoke to ST a number of times and was given the run around. Why would you want to purchase this phone and not have the capability to use it with 4g/lte? They are pretty deceptive in how they market their phones/services. Well, I stuck my son's Tmobile nano sim card in and it showed up as 4g. I also looked up the IMEI number and it shows that the phone is GSM and works with 850/1900 MHz. I am thinking about getting a AT&T micro sim from ST and cutting it down to nano and using it. If I can get 4g from Tmobile (service in this area is spotty), will I be able to get 4g/lte from AT&T (better service in the area)?
Will there be things I will need to do after inserting the AT&T sim card? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I'm not too savvy with this stuff.

Sorry if I missed this piece on an older post, but which phone did you buy? 5C, 5S would both be fine with ATT LTE. Go for the Straight Talk at&t sim and cut it down. My friend just got the 5S and LTE turned on right away.
