Most notebooks? It doesn't come with any!

yeah, that's what i thought at first too! but i guess if there are resellers out there still selling "new" older models (like amazon is), then this is somewhat accurate. though i would definitely NOT say "most".

In fact, the only Mac that still ships with a remote is the iMac. I should buy all three notebook models and call up Apple and demand two free remotes :p They said "most" which has to refer to 2/3 of their notebook line.

Is this text different from when the thread started? Still a bit ambiguous...

OR you can just spend $19 and get one...

well...now-a-days, i could use $19 to get 5 gallons of gas!!! uhhh... no remote.

I just called ....

I just called apple customer care, and they are mailing the apple remote to me. I just love their service. People who didn't get their apple remote should definitely call.

Stealing? Are you guys serious? Didn't Apple agree to send free remotes to these people? Maybe some of you don't like it, but it is definitely not stealing.

I agree that it's not stealing, but you could say it's a really low form of scamming. Most people bought knowing the remote didn't come with it but they did find a legitimate loophole to get one. It's Apple's fault, not theirs.

anyone tried this lately? what response did they get?

The webpage has been updated getting rid of any implication of a remote being included with the purchase. Thus, i doubt it works still.

I doubt it will work now... there are no such word as "remote" in that page now.

Oh well I already have a remote.

Am I the only one that can't stop thinking about how bad this all is for our planet? I mean, apparently, if somebody whines about not getting a remote, Apple will send one their way. One to every single whiner. That's will definitely have some impact on the climate, when you add it all up. It's much better to have the remotes all shipped to central points where everybody who 'misses' one can go to and get one for themselves. Those points are called Apple Stores.

Stop bitching about these 'missing' remotes and start worrying about real problems. Just today I stumbled upon this page. That will nicely put everything back into perspective, I hope.
