I am old enough to remember stuff like this:

How Steve Jobs’ Love of Simplicity Fueled A Design Revolution

Passionate to the point of obsessive about design, Steve Jobs insisted that his computers look perfect inside and out

After the whole ordeal I think people should absolutely not get the solo loop without trying it on first.

And, that's where Apple really falls down here… Do I want to try on other bands people have tried on during a global pandemic? Maybe I can use their old bathwater later too.

Why all the snark? The main issue appears to be people not paying attention when they print out the sizing template. Their printers are not necessarily set to print at 100% page size. Printers can default to non-standard settings ike “fit to page”. If your printer is printing at 90% page size your measurements will be wrong.

I used a brand new tailor measuring tape in addition to the Apple print out (which was 100% page size) and Apple’s suggested size was still wrong.

Read my story above. Unless you're saying Apple is printing them wrong too.

What kind of success are people having using the sports band method that was just brought up the other day? Does that seem to be more accurate?

and somehow the Twist-O-Flex has done it for decades

The snark is derived from such simplicity to try on a band that requires a multiple table top step process to even measure correctly for something so trivial. (Listen, I’m an Apple supporter and any members that know me can vouch for that), but this is a bit ridiculous. There’s no doubt about it that the design engineer behind this went way overboard for something that most consumers probably won’t take advantage of given the fact it’s a ‘watch band‘. Just sayin.’

I wish Apple would make their Apple Watch Solo Loop watch bands in larger sizes.

People who are heavier/overweight don’t have many options - Solo Loop only comes in size 12 at max. The solo loop watch band fits models OK, but not the average American.

It is unfortunate that many people can't follow simple instructions. Maybe, someone will create a tik-tok video or FB post or an Instagram to explain.

RTFM - my watch arrived today and guess what - the braided band fits. I followed the directions and wow, it worked.

That's the beauty of these bands: Each time you put your watch on or take it off, you are stressing the elastic fibers of the bands until the fit becomes too loose and features like EKG or pulseoxymetry aren't working properly anymore.

Then you'll have to buy a new band and the old one cannot be used for anything anymore. Hooray for sales!
You could give or sell it to somebody who has slightly larger wrists? Or just keep it in your collection for posterity? 🤔

Simple solution: measuring tape, measure your wrist. Order the right size.

OR the sport band solution was even better. This whole rollout was a mess and apple could have done better.
