Eddyisgreat.. sorry, bud... didn't mean to chew you out. All of a sudden it seemed like hostile venom was flowing here coming from God knows where... I had no idea that other people here would get so hot and bothered over what I do with my machine. You'd think they would have better things to do than to say things like "you're typing wrong" or "wear a long shirt". AMAZING! Anyway, I've gotta run! Been a real pleasure sharing with a coupe of you folks, anyway.

So it does appear!

people on this forum get hostile over pretty much anything. its kind of sad if you think about it.

That looks terrible.

Bye bye resale value, I guarantee it. Even if you miraculously find someone who likes it, they definitely won't be willing to pay the PREMIUM you are expecting for it.

Oh, and bye bye warranty.

Mac users really kill me. Nowhere else on the planet have I seen so many people whine about sharp edges on everything. If it's not sharp edges on the Macbook Pro, it's sharp corners on the iPod nano. If it's not sharp corners on the iPod nano, it's sharp edges on the edge of the Cinema Displays.

Typing using the proper method aside (which is a very legitimate piece of advice as your wrists should NEVER come in contact with the edges if typing properly), I use the trackpad exactly as shown in that linked flickr image. And you know what? It doesn't bother me one bit. It's not sharp.

You know why it doesn't bother me? Because I'm a man.

Some of you should really try putting down the latte and picking up a shovel once in a while, and grow a thicker skin. Hell, I'm a white collar worker who doesn't do any day labor and the edges don't bother me.

"Let your balls drop" as they say, quit whining, and grow a thicker skin.

Sharp edges, LMFAO.
I find that people here complain about the oddest things. I remember reading a post by a guy who claimed that clicking the trackpad made his finger hurt. Now there are all these butter wrist people complaining about the sharp edges. Next thing you know, someone will say that the tiny built in speakers made his eardrums explode...

LOL yeah now that you mention it, I didn't see the complaint about the finger hurting but I have seen several people complain about how hard it is to click the trackpad, lol

I like!

I like! Nice work, and I would buy that from you over the original design any day. Don't be bothered by other negative posters, I have carry guns that cost more that the Macbook Pro and I do same to them, hehe no snags!

I may do the same to the new Iphone.

I do have one question, does it make Safari feel or seem snappier?

Oh, come on now!! A gun is not going to snag on your clothing because the edges on the slide/frame are too crisp! It's the hammer, slidestop, beavertail, sights and other parts that stick out that could cause a snag. The whole "carry bevel" trend with 1911 pistols is completely ridiculous, but hey, it gives gunsmiths something to make money on.

It's your device, whatever makes you happy :)

But it's funny, I noticed I do this all the time with my mouse and the edge of the table, and it doesn't bother me. It probably wouldn't bother me with a new MBP. But kudos for having the ingenuity to go solving your own problems. People can decide for themselves whether they want to take a file to their new MBPs. It can also serve as an identifier if it gets stolen...

"Can you describe your stolen MBP?"
"The most noticeable aspect is the edge I filed away, because it cut into my wrist ..."
* police produces filed down MBP, OP rejoices *

I have a Springfield Operator TRP and had the full length dust cover (frame) cut back by about an 1.5 inches and the sharp edges rounded. I didn't say anything about snagging on clothes. Don't worry about my money or my gunsmiths ethics.

It's been 8 months since I bought my aluminum 13" MBP and sanded the edges round. No failures of any kind due to this, no tarnishing of any kind, nothing but a perfectly wonderful result. The pinheads who cried foul on softening the edges to create a more comfortable computer had nothing better to do than to be contrary, argumentative, and defensive.

Now this week I just traded in two of my 13" white MacBooks at an Apple dealer for a new i7 15" MBP. Both of the MacBooks had sanded edges as well. Dealer was thrilled with the condition of the machines and gave me top trade-in dollar for them. Not a word about the softened edges. I got $500 apiece on trade for the 2.0GHz CD and 2.2 C2D white MacBooks toward my new i7 15" MBP.

As for my 13" aluminum MBPro with rounded edges... it becomes my wife's laptop now. She'll use it for another year or so and then I'll pass my i7 on to her and we'll move the 13" on out.

And I will soften the edges of my new i7 MBP machine just like I have my last three MacBooks. Works great for me and makes for a more comfortable machine to use in various positions, in bed, on a lap, yada yada.

For those who don't mind the sharp edges, fine. Keep on keepin' on and enjoy your machine. Nothing for you to stop here for. For those who want to put the machine in a cover of some sort... fine with that too. For others, soften the edges if you wish to. Nothin' wrong with that either! It's all good. Do with your machine as you see fit to suit your needs and desires.

Telling people who dislike the sharp edge to "type properly" is rediculous.
No, it's the Apple way of pleasing customers: "It's not broken, you're just holding that wrong." :apple:

One thing I noticed is that the edge loses some sharpness over time. Guess the hands/sweat rub off some of the coating.

Personally I prefer to just put the Apple wireless keyboard on the trackpad area and use a mouse when I put it on my lap at home (which does not happen often anyway).
