How do I delete "Newsstand"?

And for now, why can't I put it in the 'crapapp' folder for unused apps?

I wonder how they could forget that issue in the latest update?

When I say "issue" I mean more of an annoyance. Newsstand is basically a folder with a skin on top of it. Folders do not drag into folders and this is why you're not able to do that.

is the trick when u move a app into a new folder and hurry and put newstand in it? That doesn't work for me anymore unless I'm going to slow.

Then you were either Jailbroken, never updated to 5.1, or you had done it before updating to 5.1 and haven't restored.

Never Jailbroken, always updated, but I did do it before 5.1, so maybe it's that I never restored, but until 6.0, it was at least still in a folder.

this is the only known way to do it now.
I haven't tried this as my Newsstand was already in a folder pre-5.1.

this DID work for me (2nd time i tried...maybe i did something wrong on first attempt).

newstand is in my one folder (stuff i never use); works thru syncing, restarting, etc. am happy (i HATE that i can't delete apps i don't use...)

Here's a great idea. How about adding support in iTunes for removing certain "non-essential" apps which come with the OS? Surely Newsstand would be among these for those that don't use it.

NoNewsisGoodNews jailbreak app. Nice not having that damn empty news stand folder...

Switch to an iPhone 4S with 5.0.1 or 5.1.1... no stupid Newsstand here, I've got free tethering, I already have the do not disturb functionality, except easier, and my maps actually work. :D

don't people READ these threads before posting? the trick listed by ripcord83 WORKS in ios6. do i have to post a screenshot? my newstand icon is buried in a folder...and it stays there (after syncing, rebooting, etc).

Hide Newsstand in a folder with iOS 6

MacStories, via The Loop:
…[The] Cydia developer Filippo Bigarella has released a simple Mac app to hide Newsstand from any iOS device… the app doesn’t require a jailbreak at all, as it leverages the existing “folder trick”…
Download it here.

[PS to mods: I was considering putting this in the hacks forum, but, like it said, it doesn't require a jailbreak.]
