You can now. There is a trick to do it, not that hard.
is the trick when u move a app into a new folder and hurry and put newstand in it? That doesn't work for me anymore unless I'm going to slow.

They killed that 'trick' back with 5.1.
I was able to do this until 6.0.
Then you were either Jailbroken, never updated to 5.1, or you had done it before updating to 5.1 and haven't restored.

this is the only known way to do it now.
I haven't tried this as my Newsstand was already in a folder pre-5.1.

NoNewsisGoodNews jailbreak app. Nice not having that damn empty news stand folder...
Switch to an iPhone 4S with 5.0.1 or 5.1.1... no stupid Newsstand here, I've got free tethering, I already have the do not disturb functionality, except easier, and my maps actually work.![]()
