tried the ibackupbot method it worked but as soon as I installed an app it was kicked out the folder grrrr

i had to do it twice; the second time around, it worked. i rebooted, it stayed in the folder; synced, etc.

and has stayed there ever since.

alternate: try the app discussed above!

Every single day people fascinate me with what stuff you can care and complain about and even find deperate measures to fix.

The lack of ability of many people to just ignore stuff like this sounds like a obsessive-compulsive disorder virus is spreading.

or that we have opinions about the things we buy, and own... and would like some control over...

if it isn't an issue for you, that's great. if it bothers someone else...that's LIFE.

I think there are enough options already and I would like them to rather not spam the settings with options to make everybody happy, like removing all of the standard apps or other stuff people might come up with, how far fetched their complaints/problems might be.

right, YOU think there are enough options already. apparently, a lot of people don't agree with that.

either way, we each have our likes/dislikes, and, one of the points of forums like this, is to have a place to express our needs.

i have 2 pages of apps on my phone; i would love to get rid of 4 or 5 'default' icons for apps i don't use. don't see that THAT is such a terrible request.

either way, i'll be fine. will wait for a jailbreak..

No, I don' think it is a terrible request, but you should seriously ask yourself what is wrong with your life, that you care about such stuff.

But maybe you are right, it is better to cope with this (probably) harmless form of OCD and treating it with medicine or asking for professional help might not be appropiate if you don't have other similar problems.

LOL...perhaps consider what is wrong with YOUR life that you need to spend time arguing an issue you admit you don't care about.

i'm here to discuss something a reasonable number of people care about...
you're just arguing to argue. :D

Its one icon. Big f'ng deal.

I can see your point but I have everything in folders to keep it nice and clean and that stupd app sitting there (which I never use nor want) is annoying. It's my phone, let me set it up how I want and let me decide which apps are on it.

The new version of StifleStand works a treat. v1.3 I think. Just go and get the OSX or Windowz version and problem solved for those like me who loath the newstand icon.

Somebody told me about this... No jail breaking required. http://cydiahacks.com/news
When it asks just tap install. And after it fails, tap done and delete Newsstand. However it restores after rebooting.

Just wondering is it safe?
