Yo, dudes, this entire topic is all about:

$50

The OP is bothered about the $200 Cglist is getting.

He wants $250.

$50 is alot to him.

though his last computer purchase was many times that.

I dont get it. People come here with some sort of crazy scheme, then stick their foot in their mouths constantly and try to solicit help from the MR community?

If you need $50 that badly, return/sell the MBP and get a MB. Honestly, are you really that greedy!?

if it was an email, did the link give a url of paypal.com or did the link just say so? Because if the latter, yeah it could be a scam. Although if they pay first and it shows up in your account, then you should be fine. Although I'd take it out quick, and then send it. getting a tracking number and request for signing.

That email is the whole thing, so he gave me the URL. I just had another one today that I'll post up, and this is for the same ad! Geez spammers/scammers are everywhere!

"Hi,
kindly get back to me with your firm price.THANKS MY REGARDS TO YOUR FAMILY"

I then sent an email saying what price it was.

"I am happy that the item is still avaliable, I think i am ok regarding the amount you want to sell it, I will want you to provide me with your paypal account for the payment to be send immediately or if did not have paypal account provide me your Full name and Address so that i will send the money through Money Order.I will be taking care of the shipment, so you don't need to bother yourself regarding the shipping fee.Waiting to hear from you. 206 *** 1926."

I replied "Do you take me for an idiot. First of all, why would a "206" area code be looking at SLC Classifieds and I'm not someone who falls for this kind of crap. Don't bother messaging me back"

^^ well put.

Seriously, enjoy your new MBP, new ipod, and get a job. In the time you spent trying to figure out how to find what you're basically calling a stupid buyer, you could have made 50 bucks pumping gas.

People this lazy frighten me.

I have a job. I need a MBP for school. Not a MB. $50 is a lot to me. You don't know my situation so dont try to tell me what I am and what I'm not.

Other people have been helpful and have given good suggestions. You haven't.

Honestly, are you really that greedy!?

No, I'm not greedy.

OTOH, if you don't sell it for $200 now, you may find that next week you can get only $150 for it. So whatever you decide to do, you do need to move quickly. Good luck!

Not sure what apple store you want to stand outside BUT:
1) You can't sell anything inside a mall without consent of the mall property owner
2) You probably can't sell outside of an stand-alone apple store due to state laws concerning having a permit to sell things.

anyways...you will not get $250 for your ipod from a public marketplace venue. I think anyone paying $150 is getting ripped-off. A few reasons for this.
1) It has been in your hands, even though you havn't opened it. People want the comfort of buying from the actual seller. It doesn't matter if it is unopened.
2) The supply for ipod touches is huge...
3) New ipod touches next week will most likely cause demand for the current model to fall.
4) PRICE DROPS...new ipod touch will probably sell for $199, so why would someone be stupid enough to pay more than $199 for it now?

Finally, you shouldnt have bought a pro if you needed the cash so much...the base macbook would have been fine.

Yeah, I'd probably try selling outside a stand-alone apple store. I mentioned that technically I'd need a street-seller's license, but technically its also illegal to jay-walk.

Nah, the MPB was a much better model to get based on what I'll be using it for.

Thanks for the suggestions though. I think I'm gonna try to go the route of returning it to an Apple Store or a Best Buy or something. Yeah, I'll get a gift card, but at least that would give me more time to sell the gift card than trying to sell the ipod within the next few days.

Update: I don't think I'd be able to return it to an Apple Store. I've heard they keep track of this stuff, so if I returned it, I'd have to forfeit the rebate I got. I'm still wondering if I'd be able to return it to a best buy, even if it wasn't purchased there. Keep in mind the ipod is sealed in the box in perfect condition.

No. You are greedy.

This is $50 freaking dollars, on top of a couple thousand dollar purchase. (if $50 was ALOT to you, you wouldnt have been able to afford a MBP.)

How can you consume this thread with question after question and idea after idea, with no resolve all the while thinking you deserve to get more than what the market will bear for your Touch?

Youve got some suggestions here and yet you still dont have your extra $50.

Take $200, or quit saying you arent greedy.

whatever maaaannnn. just whatever.

Anyways, best buy doesn't allow returns/exchanges without a receipt so that option wont work either.

I sold it out in front of the Apple Store (Boylston street in Boston) for $260. I was not arrested, escorted off the public sidewalk or anything like that. It took me about 25 minutes.

I know but I said I sold it...and I know he was just trying to be helpful, and I appreciate the suggestion to sell it quick, but I think somebody already mentioned that the value will go down after Sept. 9. And its pretty common knowledge that when a company introduces an updated product (the new iPod Touch), the original product's (the current iPod Touch) value goes down.

idk, i'm very fond of amazon. although they do take a price cut, you just list your price, and someone will eventually buy it. i had textbooks up for about a month, they they sold in a matter of 2 weeks.
i say go with amazon. . i'm yet to have a bad experience with them. [knock on wood]

I know how to read. I don't care about your sob story though, so I didn't bother to.
