I think they are saying the update has only been out 3 hours.

I think in 3 hours, we would know if the battery is getting chewed up.. Usually if a battery problem exists, one see the percentage go down quickly…

I think I'm going to go for it and do the update.

One feature I discovered today purchasing groceries at Publix (does not have NFC POS terminals) with my AMEX. I received a real time iOS Passbook notification when i made my purchase. CC fraud monitoring and protection service companies have been made obsolete. Thank You Apple!

This feature has actually been available on AMEX for a while. I get a notification whenever it's used. Very nice.

I've had these setup with the AMEX mobile app / Passbook integration in the past. I have never had fraud but still a handy feature to know instantly when your card is charged.

2015! While Apple is all powerful in the US, UK and international banks are more hesitant to sign on. This article says that the aren't many NFC terminals to begin with. I never notice them when I travel there. All I know is that some of my credit cards needs a "chip" in order to be used there.

NFC payment machines are everywhere in the UK, in most big retailers! The reason your cards need a chip is because we use 'chip and pin' in the UK which is far safer than you guys with your swiping! ;-)

Right. I kept trying to top up my Oyster but it wouldn't let me and I always had to use cash at the booth or do it online. haha. Chip & pin isn't something we use in the US but a few of my cards have it.

UK banks have just not signed on to it yet but they will. Oh they will....lol.

I guess I will wait for US Bank to get their system set up. They are one of the 500 banks that jumped on board. All they are saying is later this fall and I could not get a firm date out of them when I called. I would bet they would have it ready to go by Black Friday.

UK person here.. tried playing with it to see if I could add any cards.

Interestingly, attempting to add my British Airways Amex card resulted in an error message advising to try later or contact my card issuer for more info.

However, attempting to add my debit cards resulted in a message saying that the issuer does not yet support Apple Pay.

I wonder if Amex is on board and ready to go internationally, but Apple won't release it outside the US until Visa and Mastercard cards are available too.

It took the Russian Govt backed Russian Mafia and Chinese hackers to finally get the retailers, issuers, and banks to finally wake up. After October 2015, retailers who do not install more secure card readers will be forced to assume liability for fraudulent transactions.

I think i read on AMEX site that it's US only cards for now. It might be Apple is not quite ready to roll out internationally.

Can't wait to try it; unfortunately I'm not in the US right now, so it all needs to wait.

Are you in a country where NFC tap-to-pay terminals are being used? If so, try it: it would be an interesting experiment.

The EMV tokenization specification requires changes to back-end systems at the issuing banks. It should not require changes to the PoS terminals, although a few posters have noted that a small update must be downloaded to let the terminal know how to route the payment.

Follow-up and let us know if it worked. It would answer several questions.

Wells Fargo

Attempted to add Debit and Credit cards from WF. BUST!

They go through initial verification, then Passbook informs me that an additional Verify step is required. And guess what, there is an app for that! But, the app simply does not work, go through the login, get to the step to put the last 4 digits of my mobile in, and it does not allow submit.

So, reversed steps and there is a link to a phone number to call to activate. It ends up at an IVR that has no clue what Apple Pay is, eventually get to agents who also have no clue. I fear walking in to a WF branch, they always tell you to call when you need to do anything other than deposit or withdraw.

So, forget WF for now. Fortunately, Capital One (linked to my iTunes) is good to go. Guess they will get all my AP business until WF gets things sorted out.

I'm not happy my debit card is not supported I have a local bank but thought it would be all set thru MasterCard didn't realize each bank has to support it. Lame.

I thought our default iTunes cards were supposed to work. Anyone see how to make this happen? My credit union doesn't work with it yet but I read originally that whatever you had in iTunes did work.

Any thoughts?

If your default card works, it'll automatically be enabled and set to default. Which is different than, if you have a card on your account it will work.

With more than 3K worth of employees and with a ratio of 90% owning/upgrading to an iPhone 6/6+ (My figures are on point , bc we had a company wide survey), There has been major complaining at my job since the release of Apple Pay. Why? BC the vast majority are men that want to link a personal cc not affiliated with iTunes to it. I know a few that have Men toy CC's (A CC some men carry with spending money that is just for them)that are pre-paid, which apple pay does not accept... Several people with a CC linked to their iTunes account have been locked out as well, bc the cc attached to the account is not supported by apple.... There will be another update coming sooner than later to address this.... I can promise that

I noticed on the recent transactions (listed on the info page for my AmEx card in passbook) a charge for $99 from Shell (gas station).

I thought that was an odd amount so I looked it up on my AmEx online statement; it was only a $62.xx tank of gas.

Gas stations usually pre-authorize a round number. When the transaction completes, the pre-authorization is replaced by the actual amount.

It sounds like Passbook is showing the pre-authorization.

Thus the reason Apple was so clever in rolling it out now. They know retailers are up for fraudulent credit card transactions unless they update their POS systems so why not integrate Apple Pay. Of course, some won't, but will miss out on a lot of people who own an iPhone 6... (and don't carry their credit cards with them as well).

Unfortunately, I updated to 8.1 and there's no Apple Pay for me showing up. I click on the app, the + sign shows up for 1/10th of a second and disappears. On support and having to restore iPhone to see how it behaves. First time in 11 years I have ever had a problem with upgrading an Apple product.

I'm in the UK, tried adding a UK barclaycard credit card (after changing my phone region to US). I get the attached error.

Has anyone figured out how to remove an incorrect billing/shipping address? I can add new addresses, but I don't see any way to remove old ones.

How did the incorrect address get in there? By default? If so go online to your card's site and see if you can change it there.

I had the same problem. The verify app didn't work. Even called the number. They didn't have any idea what Apple Pay was. I went to my local WF Branch. They had no idea what Apple Pay was either.

Strangely, the billing and shipping address don't appear to be attached to a single credit card (I have BoA and Chase cards already entered). I don't know whether my incorrect/outdated address was pulled from my Contacts card, or from my Apple ID account, but there is no way to change it in Passbook's settings. You can add a new address, and select it, which I have done, but then there is no way to remove the old address. Not a big problem, since my new address is in there now, but it's strange that you can't remove the clutter.

:apple:Pay is required to use TouchID. So if you don't have it setup, I don't think you can use the feature.

Yes I understand you have to have it set up- but I'm asking if I can have it disabled to unlock the phone as well as having passcode disabled.

ie: I just want to swipe to open my phone- I don't want to lock it. But I want to use Touch ID for online shopping and brick and mortar shopping. Hope that's a bit clearer.

Have you checked the TouchID settings?
