My PayPal MASTERCARD business debit/credit card, not supported.

My bank's VISA debit card, not supported.

I don't get why the banks have anything to do with "supporting" Apple Pay, when we make payments it goes through VISA, MASTERCARD, AMEX, DISCOVER systems before going to the bank, so I'd think it'd be all on those systems, not the banks. All we're trying to do is make payments via a secure NFC system instead of the non-secure magnetic stripe system, that's all it is.:mad:

Yes of course. I see the option to scan codes, but nothing Pay-related. In other words, I seem to have installed a Apple Pay-less version of 8.1. Makes me wonder whether a bug makes it think that this is an iPhone 5 ...whereas it's obviously a 6...

In your shoes, I wouldn't conclude that I got a separate download and I'm not just getting the steps right.

ie: I just want to swipe to open my phone- I don't want to lock it. But I want to use Touch ID for online shopping and brick and mortar shopping. Hope that's a bit clearer.

Hey, just curious- why?
Doesn't swiping take just as long (if not longer) to unlock, than pressing the button and it unlocking?
One thing that got me convinced on Touch ID unlock, was the speed of it unlocking.

It took the Russian Govt backed Russian Mafia and Chinese hackers to finally get the retailers, issuers, and banks to finally wake up. After October 2015, retailers who do not install more secure card readers will be forced to assume liability for fraudulent transactions.

I think i read on AMEX site that it's US only cards for now. It might be Apple is not quite ready to roll out internationally.

It's also funny because the US Government will be paying for the upgrades so EBT can be used. Another bank bailout. See the Executive Order Obama signed last week.

Whatever man. When I worked as a lead captain at a steak house, I made between $300-$500 a night. I handled thousands of cards. Never once thought of doing anything malicious.

No one said you were malicious. But you can't be more trusting of a system where a waiter literally walks away from view with your card and all your info vs one where no information is exchange and all data remains with the bank.

Couple of unexpected's...

First, upon trying to connect my current BofA iTunes debit card to :apple:Pay, I was redirected to call BofA for verification purposes. I appreciate the extra security (and the friendly voice on the line), but it certainly was not as easy as just taking a picture of your card.

Next, I walked over to Walgreens, picked up some Combo's, and tried to pay with my iPhone 6. The iPhone screen acted as expected, but after tapping the TouchID, the POS screen directed me to enter my debit card PIN. I'm not sure if the issue was iOS, Walgreens, B of A, Visa, user error, or something else, but essentially the iPhone saved me a card swipe. Anyone have a similar experience using a debit card with :apple:Pay? Or just an bleeding edge hiccup?

Peace be with you.

Doesn't seem like your experiencing any issues, seems like it worked just fine. lol I thought debit cards still require you to enter your pin, Credit Cards don't though.

Settings app- general- language & Region- is iPhone language set to "English" (and not another variant, and may not entirely necessary), and region set to United States? I went with those options, and the option to add apple pay shown up for me.

So the secure element is a chip? I don't really care I own a 6 plus just sucks for those with a 5s.

They will push more watches this way though..if apple pay is a success.

The 5s has a secure element...where is it keeping your fingerprints? Either way you're only making online transactions with the phone.

Unfortunately, I updated to 8.1 and there's no Apple Pay for me showing up. I click on the app, the + sign shows up for 1/10th of a second and disappears. On support and having to restore iPhone to see how it behaves. First time in 11 years I have ever had a problem with upgrading an Apple product.

No Apple pay on my phone either after the update. Don't know what is going on, can't find any Apple pay or Passbook related fields even in settings. Hope some light gets shed on this soon.

Does Apple bill us for any of the transactions or only the credit card issuer as if we presented the physical card?

I just had a similar experience at Walgreens. Used Apple Pay, it prompted me to use Touch ID, and I thought it was done? I ended up having to enter my PIN# for the Wells Fargo debit card... It just saved me swiping the card :(

The EMV tokenization must be done when you add your card to your Passbook. At that time, the issuing bank authorizes the creation of the token, and retains the token on both your phone and at the bank.

After that, the token is used each time you make a payment. The token must go to the issuing bank for authorization, and the bank has to know how to translate the token (also called the DAN) into your actual account number (also called the PAN). The bank also has to know how to decrypt the one-time cryptogram included with the authorization request to confirm that the transaction is valid.

For all practical purposes, the payment processing network just passes the transaction information to the issuing bank. It's not aware that it's a token: it looks just like a regular credit card transaction. The bonus: no one but your phone, the issuing bank, and the token provider knows the actual account number.

You pressed the debit button. Press the credit button. Then, it won't ask you for a PIN.

Even though you have a debit card, pressing the credit button causes it to be processed like a credit card. You won't see any difference on your bank statement, but the merchant may pay a higher transaction fee.

(An exception: some places like my local gas station give you a discount for using a debit card, instead of a credit card. In that case, you want to select "debit", and enter the PIN).

Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems like you can't use Apple Pay if you have Touch ID to unlock the phone turned off & passcode turned off as well. I hate using it to unlock my phone but I'd love to use Apple Pay and/or for iTunes. Please help!

When faced with the question of what I'd hate more... having to press a button to unlock my phone, or allowing the thief who stole it to have at it with my stolen phone, I'd choose the button every single time.

Really, the fingerprint reader takes all of 1/2 second to scan your print, so what's the big deal?

Many users are reporting that cards are not yet being accepted during setup even if the issuer is listed as an Apple Pay partner.

We're going to have to be patient with the banks as they enable things from their end.

My Barclaycard Visa didn't work. I'm confused because I thought it was listed as a bank that would support it. Maybe it's one of those that will support it "soon." Grr.

So if I go to a store with a credit card terminal that supports nfc. Will it work with apple pay or do only certain stores accept it?

Lol @ trusting apple with secure data

Guess you don't have an iTunes account? No matter. Millions do and it hasn't seem to have been a problem yet after all these years.

Funny how a few leaked nude pictures can skew the ignorant. Children afraid of the dark!

Click the + icon up top. Also you have to set your settings to USA in Settings > General > Language & Region

Also - do you have Touch ID enabled?

Passport shows the usual screen as it did in in iOS 8.0.2 no difference, just the usual passport application. There is also no + button at the top right corner. I am in Australia, however its the same update worldwide. So I have to change the country to USA?

Apple should return to its strengths, making computers that people want.

Ya because no one wants Apples other products except wait, the millions that do but thanks for the completely random comment that's void of fact!

Cannot add Paypal MasterCard..

Darn, paypal is not allowing to add their mastercard....and they say their care about customers security but for now have to still hand it over to pay or use another one.

Same here. Paypal MasterCard not supported. Lame decision in paypal's side.

If the terminal supports NFC, it will support Apple Pay.

As long as your bank supports it (therefore your credit card goes into passport), all you need is an NFC terminal.

Living outside the US. Changing region back to US fixed issue. Now I just have to wait for Apple Pay to be available worldwide

Sorry, I haven't read all the posts but I have a question. Ok, so now I have taken a picture of all my credit cards and entered them. If I delete the picture immediately does it NOT store in the cloud with my other pictures? How long do I have to delete the pics to ensure that they aren't in my cloud account?
