What's crazy to me is that some of you in here got in an absolute frenzy as to whether the procedure was legit. Like you would not let it go. Ignoring and moving on would have killed it by itself.

Valid point, but the particular poster was bringing it up himself on this and other similar threads. He even had a step by step with tools needed to download and some members even pointed to him when someone asked. If you let it go and don't say anything people will start believing its for real.

If im reading all this correctly. My hopes are dashed :(

iphone 3GS running 5.0.1 and 05.16.05 is not unlockable at present? so ill be stuck with the "searching problem" when any non factory sim is in the phone :(

Hello. Yes I'm new here, but if you search my name I post in a lot of forums. Anyway, this thread is now the #1 result on Google for "iphone 5.16.05". So to say it will just "go away" by itself is absurd. The whole thread should be hidden and all the sock puppets of huang should be banned to make sure that this bad information is not being repeated as fact on the web.

A friend foolishly updated his 3GS to 5.0.1 so now I'm having to do the iPad Baseband trick. Not sure why after 2 years of promises there is no 3GS Baseband fix, but that's for another thread.

crashbangwallop,

You have to upgrade your baseband to the iPad 06.15.00 baseband using redsn0w or other tool.

Firstly - I can't see this thread when googling "iphone 5.16.05".

Secondly - it's pretty sad, since I have a great Iphone on my desk and I also have a ****** blackberry bold, and I need to use them both since the Iphone is locked :(

I have a 3gs that is old enough and I am willing to unlock using the ipad baseband... however when I jailbroke it I still didnt know how to know if it was old enough or not.

so.. I need to know how to downgrade the baseband to the ipad 6.15, having already jailbroken it.

what do i dooo? because the only think I can think of is restoring and rejailbreaking with the 6.15.. but my comp loses all my restores and i have too much stuff to lose..
any help pleease. thanks:)

Did anyone not notice the discrepancy in Huangs' pictures?

1st, 2nd & 3rd pictures, iOS 4.1, SN 871442UWEDG, BB 05.16.05 -- my guess, saved SHSH blob and downgrade to 4.1; also note, Carrier 8.0 which is T-Mobile

4th picture -- shows he is on T-Mobile

5th picture -- iOS 5.0.1, SN QR1483KXEDG, BB 05.16.05, Carrier 11.0 which as far as I know is AT&T ...

Whether the Carrier is AT&T/T-Mobile is irrelevant, clearly this is 2 different iPhones. If he wants to prove his unlock works, he needs to submit a video where he scrolls through the whole 'About' page in 'General'

This thread is definitely high in the Google rankings. that's how I found it

i haven't used it yet, but i wanted to let you all know i found a proposed solution.

http://www.unlock-jailbreak-iphone.com/index.html

it costs $15 but it's the only thing i've found that says it will work without messing up GPS.

Read the site instruction carefully. After you fill out your phone info, if the baseband is 05.16, it says thay your phone can be jailbroken. Nothing mention about unlock, then ask you to click to buy.

Why pay them to jailbreak your phone while you can get the tools all over Internet for free?

Yeah ok, judging by the rest of your few posts you dont really know what you're doing.
And learning is ok but not knowing something and insisting about it can confuse and mislead others.
So learn first, then try to help and give advice to others.
You're posting false info that's all Im saying.
You cannot unlock bb 05.16.05 period.
Downgrading to 4.1 will not downgrade the baseband.

I'm new here...Applejuiced...from reading this forum it seems like u kno yur stuff...

I have an iphone 3gs it accidentally upgraded to 5.0.1 05.16.05...I downgraded to 4.1

Is there anyway at all to downgrade the bb to 05.16.04 or something lower that is unlockable? :(

I feel your pain crashbangwallop

Your only option to unlock is by installing the iPad bb. You can downgrade firmware but not the bb. But carefully cause the iPad bb unlock comes with lots of headaches.

seeing that this is my 2nd post I don't think I can pm just yet...I'd like to get some more assistance and explain what i've attempted

This is one of the first websites listed when google searching, that's how I found it...And I'm still none the wiser! I'm guessing that unlocking the iphone that has the firmware 05.160.05 is a no-go? That's a shame.

Sadly, desperate people will believe anything even when those with experience warn them it is a "fake".
And generally, those people who require an unlock become desperate because they (1) bought a phone which could not be unlocked or (2) upgraded a phone which could be unlocked without bothering to do any research.

Do NOT Install iPad Baseband 6.15.00 on iPhone 3GS with Numonyx 36MY1EH or 36MY1EF

If you don't know by now, Apple updated the chip on all iPhone 3GS made after week 28 of year 2011. The new NOR chip which is mass produced by Intel/Numonyx has the model number of either 36MY1EH or 36MY1EF. They are not compatible with iPad baseband 6.15.00. It’s exactly the same type of chip used on iPhone 4.

You can check this by looking at your iPhone 3GS’ serial number. The 3rd, 4th and 5th digital of the serial number represent the week and year the logic board was produced.

3rd digit: Year
4th and 5th digits: Week

For instance, if your serial number is xx129xxxxxx then you can tell immediately that the logic board was produced in year 2011, week 29th – not compatible with iPad baseband.
