how to unlock Iphone 3gs, modem 05.16.05

I will. I am trying to buy a 3GS off craigslist at the moment. Once you try it, I will let you know. However, I don't think I will have result until after my vacation down to southern California this week.

The process they listed out does not make sense at all because if you have baseband of 05.16 on your phone, even you downgrade it down to 4.1, you still have 05.16 baseband. You then upgrade it up to 5.0.1 by using customs firmware (create by sn0wbreeze). Why do you have to do this? This make no sense at all because the baseband on 5.0.1 is 05.16.

They just want to mess with you and wasting your time. You can follow their instruction all day long and it is not going to work.

U seem more mature then "Applejuiced"...that's all it has to be done, try it first than say is bs. All I can say it worked for me. I will make a video 2morrow to show u guys the iphone with and without ultrasnow bb 05.16.05

Anyone can make up and edit anything on a video.
Dont you think if ultrasnow could unlock that baseband version now we wouldnt all be looking for an unlock or installing the ipad bb? Or the people that put out ultrasnow would know about it?
And BTW ultrasnow has to be updated to support newer or different version basebands, it doesnt just magically unlock any baseband that is available or installed.

Hi AJ, unless the dev team update ultrasn0w to cover this baseband and never making any announment, then it will work. Since we have 2 people here claiming on this. I want to test it myself and one for all, to proof this one. If it works, then I will personally apologize them for this and we know something new. If not, then they can stop posting this non sense.

You know I love to mess with Iphones. So, it is not wasting my time for nothing. 😉

Probably the same poster with multiple user names.
But I doubt the dev team would secretly add support for that baseband version and not say anything, that dont make sense.
The update was just to have ultrasnow work with firmware 5.0.1
If you have the time and want to spend the money buying a 3GS on that bb version go for it. I would bet any money its fake but let us know anyway.

I do have the same thinking as you are. I don't think they update ultrasn0w to cover 05.16 baseband. Just to update so it compatible with 5.0.1.

Anyway, I just want to proof on this after my trip to Disneyland this weekend 😀 (escape from the crappy, snowing Seattle weather now).

okay, i had an iPhone 3gs with baseband 05.16.05 and didn't care about unlocking it as I already had an unlocked iPhone 4s.

before I send this phone to a friend of mine in Korea and unlock it using the iPad baseband, I was looking for ways to unlock without using that GPS-bye-bye baseband.

So, while I was laughing and being skeptical, I decided to try whatever this method.

This thread remembers me on Copernicus, Galileo and others which claimed that the world is round but the "experts" said it's not, than throw stones, hang them or put them prison for livetime.😀

On your step above, you mention to ignore it and then turn off the phone. It is impossible to turn off the phone when it is in recovery mode. So, please clarify.
3. Again, the second time to restore to 4.1, you did not mention the error at all and how you get it out of recovery mode.

Anyway, I will buy a 3GS and test this method as soon as I get a hold of 1 and report back.

Get some solid, detailed instructions up as well as that video and I'll give it a try. I have a newer bootrom 3Gs with 5.0.1 on it that's sitting in a drawer turned off.

As of yesterday, ultrasnow does not work with 05.16.

This thread is ridiculous.

Sorry guys, it does work but in order to properly unlock it you have to do the bloody Mary thing and the Macarena song twice. 😀
Then it will be sim unlocked forever.

Doing the Macarena twice is too steep of a price for me... I'm out.

I was a believer until that. Now I'm just sad...
