The text effects works sometimes for me, in some conversations they work just fine, and in others it shows the action in text.

Ughhh. I wish reduce motion could be a feature by feature selection. Oh well. I'll put up with it now to have these additional message features. Also. It appears bubble and screen effects can only be selected in portrait mode. Kind of wack.

I totally agree, I like reduced motion because it makes the transitions quicker and the app icons moving with the motion isn't worth it, would rather save the little but of battery it uses.

It's not working for me either on my 6S Plus after the update.

It was not working for me either and it was driving me crazy. So I took the advice of others and turned my iMessage "Off" and then back "On" and it started working. Hope that helps

Have her sign out of iMessage in the settings and sign back in. I had to do the same to get it to work!

Question:

My mother has an iPhone 6S and she recently updated to iOS 10. She can send messages using the effects and they work when I view them, but messages sent to her using the effects do not work. For instance, if she sends me a text on my phone using invisible ink the effect works on both phones, but if I send her a text from mine using invisible ink she only receives the text along with (sent using invisible ink). Any ideas on how to fix this?

I've made sure the "reduced motion" is off so that wasn't it.

I have a pesky Microphone icon where the arrow should be, and for the life of me can't figure out how to get rid of it. Any tips?

Nevermind... As soon as you start typing it changes to the arrow. Silly me!

Is there anyway to turn off this? Also the drawing and App icon?

Prefer to not use these on iMessage
I'm looking for a similar answer; if there isn't the option to opt in (or out) of receiving effects either globally or by effect or by "conversation"; I'm not inclined to install ios10.

None of the screen effects come through for me when receiving on a Mac running Sierra (replaced with text description).

On a 6 Plus and long pressing the send button does nothing.
Make sure Reduce Motion is disabled, otherwise it won't give you the option.

Good God Apple needs to let Reduce Motion be a switch selector menu. Out of everything in iOS that you can't customize, this one irritates me the most. Fix it Apple!

Im so pissed off about the reduced motion setting and how Apple FORCES me to keep it off. All I want is to have it off for the home screen. It shouldn't touch weather, or message effects or any of that. those things are NOT related.

GRRR

The rich link previews don't seem to be working properly for me. When I send a message with a link, the preview works fine and shows up in the sent message. But, the preview doesn't show up when I receive a text, just something like "money.cnn.com" followed by a Safari icon. I sent several texts of different links to myself and that's what happened every time. Am I missing something?

Every single one of my Live Links has the "Tap to Load Preview" instead of the preview. Everything else works fine. Is anyone else's doing this? How do I fix it?

I'm having trouble using force touch on my 7 plus Press on the blue arrow next to the chat box to bring up the Bubble Effect and Screen Effect menu... it does nothing even if I press really hard, I've adjusted force touch intensity on various levels and nothing.

Have you checked to make sure your reduce motion setting is disabled?

"Settings > General > Accessibility and switch on the 'Reduce Motion' option. " only works SOME of the time and at other times, it's back. I have appealed to Apple to put out an update allowing people to SHUT IT OFF versus a 'work around' that *should* work. Effects and expressions is not appropriate for work phones and it will be things like this that edge the market share downward for apple as buying decisions become based on things like this. I have already had to explain to a co-worker that I wasn't trying to be funny when my text message included "sent with gentle effect" because she had an older IOS that didn't know how to interpret the 'effect' so added the text with my message - I couldn't believe it and this has become so frustrating. HELP APPLE...

This is what worked for me. After I toggled iMessage off then on, everything was fixed.

seemed fixed but if like mine, the problem came right back. I loathe this latest update with 'effects'.

What a bloated gimmicky mess Apple has made. All in the name of entertaining the juveniles.

ABSOLUTELY RIGHT. I used to buy them for work phones but no more. Wish I'd seen this IOS 'update' coming.

DO NOT install the latest IOS unless you want to trade your beloved functional phone for a kiddy op-sys with all the bells and whistles your kids might enjoy. Apple should be ashamed of themselves for releasing something like this.
