Multiple phones? How many has that really?

I think most people have 1 phone, 1 iPad, and 1 watch. But for whatever reason they refuse to give us an iPad app and a watch app.

I've traveled to some places where it isn't a bad idea to carry a cheap android while going out at night in case you get robbed. Previously, i had to have 2 numbers, i think this would help me by allowing me to use that same whatsapp # and contacts on both phones.

Just one use case :)

LOL... wait, people still use WhatsApp?

I guess there are people who still lick lead paint, it doesn't make you smart or even wise about your health.
LOL... wait, there are people who don't know there's a world outside of the U.S.?

Everyone does but the US and maybe Sweden or Australia. Back home you can’t do anything without WhatsApp. From planning and booking your wedding to your next dentist appointment. You can now even make appointments to renew your passport via WhatsApp. When I booked a hotel in India, it was all done via WhatsApp as well. In the beginning I found it a bit strange but you get used to it

A phone number reveals where and who you are. Why would I want Zuckerberg to have this information?
You honestly believe Facebook doesn't already have your information, even if you don't use any of their products/services?

Read up about their "shadow profiles"

Infuriatingly, they still don't have a native app for iPad, and block you from installing the iPhone version. My entire family is on Whatsapp, and I miss conversations sometimes because my phone is usually charging - I use my iPad for near everything at home.

Interestingly there's an Android tablet version… which I'm pretty sure came about because of the folding phones rather than specifically tablets. Usually the Apple devices get priority. I'm not sure you're missing much though… there's this split mode (contact on the left and current chat on the right) that's always on and the size of the split is unchangeable. The only upside is that split mode doesn't affect calls.

I cannot comprehend why they won't make it lol, this is getting ridiculous

I need Whatsapp to work, and it's a pain to transfer everything from my phone to ipad (especially since i just went to android ....imagine the pain)

Split mode on devices like the Fold 4 can be toggled off :)

really - for many countries What's app functions like the nation's utility company

If you don't use other Meta products there's very little they can actually data mine unless you believe they read your chats.
Huh? You think you have to use multiple products for them to collect and sell your data?

Did you miss @icanhazmac post #21? They collect everything. Anything related to Meta is disease. It doesn’t matter if you don’t use Facebook, IG, or any of their hardware on top of the WhatsApp app. They have the right to do what they want with any connecting services (it’s all Meta) you sign off on when downloading and making an account to use those services.

Not in the EU at least. They got fined a couple of months ago and just implemented a lot of new settings (supposedly only available in the EU) to stop cross device tracking, using app data etc.

what I am more curious about is if META is storing its European data actually in Europe because the US is deemed unsafe and even Google Analytics is illegal because it is sending the IP to the US

That may make a difference. I keep forgetting the US isn’t the center of the universe. 👊🤪👍

Doesn’t change how I feel about the company or the lengths they go to in order to get what they want. No love, no trust.
