And yet I still can’t use multiple phone numbers which makes living between multiple countries extremely painful. Again, people in America completely oblivious to how people in other parts of the world live. Why are we even still using phone numbers at all? My identity does not change with my location. Give me a username.

damn right..

Only some 2 billion people worldwide, making it the biggest chat app in the world.
If I didn't use it in México, I wouldn't have immediate access to my dentist, chiropractor, physical therapist, medical specialists, banker, insurance broker, architect, attorney, veterinarian, massage therapist, enrolled agent, and more.

Is it secure? Who actually knows?

Does it give the deep state more information about me THAT IT DOESN'T HAVE FROM OTHER SOURCES? Inconceivable!

So, where are your chats saved? Does that depend on your 'main' device?

I'm not sure why you need so many whatsapp accounts that's your business :)

But you can have 2 seperate numbers on Samsung phones and like many of us that have multiple country sims and prefer not to have all esims ,2 phones is an easy solution over web based ones

As you also know most countries require mandatory that your phone number to be tied to your ID or passport for many reasons :)

Good to see this feature. However I don't have this feature available yet.

While the messages themselves might be encrypted and protected the point is what other data are they skimming from your device via the app? Why do you think they still don't have an iPad app and actively block you from using the iPhone version on the iPad? When I last had to use this POS it was really begging for access to my contacts, etc. It is skimming way more than it needs to function as detailed below:

No thank you! Glad my employer finally realized what spyware garbage this app and mothership are.
It is asking for access to your contacts so you can send messages to them.

I think the article is missing a crucial detail - it works if the second device is android and the primary device iOS, but Apple phones can’t be an extra device yet. At least this was the case when I researched this feature recently.

Correct. The article as it is currently drafted does not make sense.

You honestly believe Facebook doesn't already have your information, even if you don't use any of their products/services?

Read up about their "shadow profiles"

All of that can be avoided using a pseudonym and a VPN, but a phone number is forever traceable back to a wireless account set up with a credit check, and those records are never deleted and can be mined retroactively forever, linking people to places and times. AT&T and the CIA have been illegally doing far more than Facebook for decades, and not to sell you ads.

1) burner phones
2) data retention policies

All our friends move to Signal and Discord because its lacking ipad and multi-login support on single number. Been waiting for like more than 10 years+

No thanks, too late.

Did anyone get this working at all? I'm using the most recent versions of WhatsApp on both my iPhone and Samsung phones and neither one shows the "Link to existing account option" at all.

Infuriatingly, they still don't have a native app for iPad, and block you from installing the iPhone version. My entire family is on Whatsapp, and I miss conversations sometimes because my phone is usually charging - I use my iPad for near everything at home.
Same. iPad for everything. Makes selection easy for us - we deleted WhatsApp for Signal.
