Heres hoping that we get 'one more intel upgrade' on the 16. Wifi 6, TB/USB 4, MiniLED. That'll tide me over nicely until either emulation magic happens or (sigh) I buy a secondary windows machine....

Do we know yet if the event is on, or is "Apple planning to hold..." an event?

‘be a prominent ‌Apple TV‌ app section’ where is that prominent section. It is ridiculous how difficult it is now to watch their own events on an Apple TV. Events are hidden until they literally start while on YouTube I can already subscribe to it and be notified when it starts. why is there no events section in the app that I can navigate to and it will just tell me in there when the event starts.

Arm macs are a great way to kill the hackintoshes...

Well there is more than that, which needs to occur. A single binary of the OS distributed that no longer supports AMD/Intel x86-64 along with the chipset. Also that cannot be emulated on such chips.

I prefer to follow via the macrumors live transcript. That way I get to skip the song, dance, and marketing fluff and just get the noteworthy bits.

Bruh really? I love the song & dance ... aka Jobs 'Something appeared on our website the other day that just was so outstanding it was unbelievable. Some internally had called this 'pre-mature specification'" [PowerMac G5] "there is the system, the chip, and the product" ... I think a similar layout will occur.

It's the only way the average purchasing consumer and the industry pundits will understand and form their minds about it. criticisms as well.

Me its fun yet VERY insightful. Early September's event this year had 3 people besides Tim Cook showing the triangle with their hands. I specifically mentioned it in one of those threads. This last announcement of iPhone 12 ... only Tim Cook (whom traditionally does this for the past 6yrs) did so, and only the guy that announced the HomePod mini came close to doing so. PS: Those of you have watched both releases of the TV Show "V" would've noticed and had fun speculation. Other things I pick-up is voice, enthusiasm, the awe in the eyes of staff presenting a segment.

Can't Wait for this livestream. Should be Epic! Now Apple will control just about everything with Apple Silicon. No reliance on Intel.

I think Apple still rely's on Intel for current hardware chips and source components for existing Intel based hardware that is still in production and for spare parts for repairs the next few years. ;)

Plus we never know what other partnerships will occur down the road.

I'm VERY excited for this announcement - and also for the entire industry going forward. my ONLY concern, since I use Intel/Windows for work is ... what will my options be for running Windows on Apple Silicon Mac's for personal growth/use and potentially for contracts as an option for a configured windows build to run.

For now ...
I have my HomePod, AirPods Pro back ... 12 Mini pending so I think I'll be good for a while.

Well, I’ll be pretty tied up with work, so I’ll have to catch the MR ‘everything Apple announced in XX minutes’ video which I dearly appreciate! Looking forward to seeing a new laptop released!

On par not in specs, but in performance. Think of an A14X chip running a game built on metal and optimised perfectly for an Apple system. It may not require too big a leap to hit an equivalent resolution and frames per second performance on a fully optimised game & system run on an Apple designed chip

Apple has never been about matching ‘numbers’. All those phones with 100+ megapixel cameras or ridiculous a mounts of RAM. The numbers mean much little than real world performance.
Still not gonna happen. I think you fail to understand just how powerful a 3090 is.

Do you think Apple Silicon Macs will cost more, less, or about the same as their Intel counterparts?

Yeah, actually. It seems the last 5-6 years, they've pushed so hard on the "feels" that it's actually kind of distancing.
I hope you're not planning to run Windows on it right away.
People who run Windows sometimes have trouble conceiving of the notion that other people don't give a **** ;)
