Still not gonna happen. I think you fail to understand just how powerful a 3090 is.
But since when was anybody expecting Apple to be showing off the highest end offerings now? (Also, you can't get a 3090 on a Mac. And also, you can't get a 3090 on a laptop. Also, Apple has skimped on graphics power on their laptops for years.) So if Apple Silicon allows them to bring a big jump in graphics power to its Macs, don't sit on the sidelines and make comparisons that aren't useful. And don't make them in any case for 2 years. What gets unveiled tomorrow will definitely have processing power and graphics power greatly exceeding that of the machines they replace. :p

Yeah, actually. It seems the last 5-6 years, they've pushed so hard on the "feels" that it's actually kind of distancing.

People who run Windows sometimes have trouble conceiving of the notion that other people don't give a **** ;)

now THAT is true classic Mac spirit ;)

Just may have to run 2 separate computers then myself. :D

I'm sticking with Intel and AMD. Need Windows compatible booting. No ARM for ME. on tablet and cell FINE

GO INTEL! AND AMD! YOU GOT THIS!

AMD has a patent for a hybrid cpu design

not sure what will occur months from now but so far looks like their public aim is performance per watt, per dollar in the X86-64 realm.

Newfoundand and Labrador Left Out
When putting time zones in, you forgot the most eastern part of North America: Newfoundland Standard Time, which is a half-hour ahead of Atlantic Standard Time. Of course CBC-TV just adds, a half hour later in Newfoundland. 😃

On par not in specs, but in performance. Think of an A14X chip running a game built on metal and optimised perfectly for an Apple system. It may not require too big a leap to hit an equivalent resolution and frames per second performance on a fully optimised game & system run on an Apple designed chip

Apple has never been about matching ‘numbers’. All those phones with 100+ megapixel cameras or ridiculous a mounts of RAM. The numbers mean much little than real world performance.
iPads have existed for years, and give a pretty decent idea of the reality or not of what you are hoping for. But hey, maybe this upcoming 14T chip will be mind blowingly more powerful for graphics than the A14X. Or maybe they are planning to pair it with a super powerful graphics chip. It would be a major surprise though.

I'm going to be seriously disappointed if it's only the lowest end laptops. I guess we'll see.
I'd be disappointed AND surprised. That would be a major flop, which surely Apple will want to avoid. The A14T chip has already been leaked. If it was just low end, they'd simply use the same A14X as used in the iPads, and I suspect that is exactly what will be used in the MBA. So the A14T says to me there will be high end too.

Whatever is released will be far better than the items they replace.
The question for me is will they be good enough to replace my 15” 2014 MBP 4ghz i7?

And a side question... would a new macbook have a lidar sensor and dual cameras?

Praying for a FCPX update with basic media management that doesn't involve background processes churning a system to a stand still, that isn't just Spotlight. Oh, and Bins.

I’m curious how quickly these will ship. Will they be ready for order this week, this month, or not until next month?

I don't have a major need for Windows at this moment, but if an intel 16" was refreshed I'd have to pull the trigger right now.

let’s hope tomorrow Apple’s premier partners, VMware & Parallels, and Microsoft announce some sort of partnership solution to run Windows with support on Apple Silicon. In a way, I’m sort of counting on some mention of it being talked about even if briefly

there is always January 2021. However in 2006(?) Jobs announced both MacBook and MacBook Pro units with Intel. 2008 was the unibody design.

most likely the same sort of announcement will be mentioned. I also have a feeling less than 9mths all but the Mac Pro will have a shopping Apple Silicon Mac.

COME ON NEW APPLE TV........!

I seriously doubt this. It would have been introduced with the Apple HomePod mini etc. In addition no concrete rumors about one and I have no idea what would be added that the 4K TV doesn't have given how the OS operates, sans a new processor. But the current one is very powerful.

highly doubtful. They are both virtualization packages, and to run wintel stacks you'd need emulation of the CPU. Maybe Apple will pull a rabbit out of their hat and announce that rosetta 2 will work with their hypervisor, but I wouldn't count on it (and the performance would probably be...bleh).

Windows/ARM isn't a solution if the apps are still Windows/Intel.

Apple events have become so boring since innovation in the computer lineup has been stalled for many-many years.
Not to mention that the upgrade cycles are longer and prices are higher.
It is quite sad how Tim Cook actually destroyed the laptop line up and did not care for over 4 years to fix the major problems it had, when it used to be back then (before 2015) a great machine.

GO INTEL! AND AMD! YOU GOT THIS!

Too late. CPU and GPU's going forward will be in-house Apple Silicon. Everything at the WWDC confirms this. If A14 processors are any indication, Apple will come out of the gate with the fastest CPU's and GPU's in a laptop at massive power savings.

We saw the demo's of games running on the Rosetta 2 emulator (not native code) at blazing speeds. Imagine native code.

I can't wait, I heard the 17" is coming back! Finally! I'll gladly pay premium top dollar for that! If it's only 13", that'll be a big let down. As a pro user, I wouldn't give up screen size for speed.
