so why does the iPad mini still exist? It's clearly not retina. the iPod Touch 4 is retina yet it doesn't get ios 7
Well my question was really, if iOS 7 barely runs on the 5's, how can it possibly stand a chance on the lower end phones?
Are you assuming the newer "cheaper" iphones are going to be slower than a 4S? I highly doubt it. Apple is all about the user experience. They wouldn't release hardware that couldn't handle it's own OS. Of course there is a cut-off point where hardware is too old and cannot run the latest iOS (like the 3GS).
My ipad Mini has the internal components of a iPad 2 and it is being included for an iOS 7 update.
What do you mean barely runs on the 5s lol? First of all its a beta, barely runs rofl. My friend has an iphone 4 with ios 7, and even it runs ok.
I think he's a Troll or really has no clue about anything.
My question would be though, if you can put retina on an iPod touch and a phone, how is it so impossible that you couldn't put it on an iPad mini?ipod touch 4 has an A4 chip. Do you really want to run ios 7 on it, then you'll be complaining about how slow, laggy, and unusable it is? Apple doesn't want that type of stigma on any of their products even if the stigma is justifiably obvious. Apple wasn't able to get the required tech for retina for the ipad mini form factor at that type of screen size. It was simply a compromise not possible to engineer over at the time.

I agree.I think the closer Apple can follow in Samsung's footsteps, the better.
You are so wrong.
Try using Final Cut Pro X or Logic Studio X on a 13" Air. Try playing a modern game like Battlefield 3.
Pro (15" & 17") is for professionals, Air is for students, teenagers, school, travel.
EDIT : The 13" Macbook Pro is a joke. A dual core computer with integrated graphics and a 13" screen does not deserve the name "Pro".
why would Apple do that when they require all apps to be submitted to app store be retina specific? :roll eyes:
They already killed off all non-retina (iPhone and iPod) devices with iOS-7. There is no need to go backwards.
I agree.
Once a cutting edge company, Apple now has been passed in the smartphone space by a very agile & fast moving Samsung.
Having already copied much of Samsung's brilliant ideas in the notification center, Apple would do well to give the iPhone 6 a 5" display. Based on the many conversations I've had with people at work that love Apple but currently are using Android, the most common complaint is Apple refusing to advance and stay relevant with a modern sized display.
You really don't know what you are talking about. Get your facts right.
24 hour battery life ? The 13" Air has a 12 hour battery life and the 11" Air has a 9 hour battery life.
Anyway, back to your statement :
The Macbook Air is a Dual-Core machine and has integrated graphics with a 11"/13" screen !
There is no way you can do real PRO work on a Macbook Air.
You can't compare the Air with the Pro.
If you could, the Macbook PRO's would not exist. But yet they do exist. Why ? PRO is for Professionals, Air is for students, teenagers, school, travel. I said this earlier.
The lower cost will prob have iphone 5 hardware.
That wouldn't make sense. The iPhone 5S is supposed to boost processor and camera, from the rumors. A cheaper iPhone would be as powerful as a 4S to be optimistic, in my opinion. Perhaps it wouldn't even reach that level.
Then again. I'm convinced the iOS 7 packed in the lower end iPhones will have limitations, such as ability to multitask, less animations etc.
so why does the iPad mini still exist? It's clearly not retina. the iPod Touch 4 is retina yet it doesn't get ios 7
Yep, that's a big if not huge part of it all.Marketing would be my guess. Why put out a ipad mini w/ retina right from the start when you can sell the Retina version to the same people the following year?
It's funny,is depending on that "old boy" network kind of.. it's like they're trapped in 5 years ago. They have all this market share, but this is from 2007.
It was somewhere around the time that I tried the S4's eye movement technology where you can do a hands free scroll on pages that it really hit home, "Wow, they're really are innovating."
5 of my co workers have the Samsung Galaxy S4 and none of them use that feature. innovative and not adopted = useless.
Don't mean to rain on your "Apple sucks" parade but that's a reality.
Agreed it's a cool feature, but what about it is compelling enough to not just scroll with my finger? That's what makes it uninnovative and a gimmick.
Because it's an exciting feature. It actually works believe it or not, you actually want to run out and try it.
But what do you get with Apple products. Vimeo and Facebook in the Settings menu!
Waving over your phone to answer a call is actually useful too! And not only that, but the look away feature when you're watching movies is very innovative too.
But don't worry, you'll experience it when Apple comes late to the party as usual. And you'll think it's fantastic then.
Waving your hands to answer the phone:
- If you are eating and both your hands are dirty why would you want to answer the phone to begin with? To tell the other person you're eating and you'll call them back or to try talking with a mouthful of food? It's easy enough to wipe your hand with a napkin and text them the same info.
What other situation does this feature come in handy? Doing your nails?
The Video pausing feature when you look away:
- Sucks when you want to HEAR the audio of the video you are looking at. Sometimes I play music videos at work on youtube just to hear the music while I work.
- Sucks if you are actually watching something with a friend. They have to wait for you to look at the phone again.
- I watch TV, look at my iPad, look at my iphone and go back to the TV again. A lot of us do this. losing 2-3 seconds because you looked away is not a big deal. In fact if you have to look away longer than that just hit pause.
Neither of these features make our lives easier enough to actually use them.
If and When Apple decides to bring these features I can guarantee you they will implement a lot smarter than Samsung will.
You don't gotta overthink it like that.
to me there isn't that big of a difference, and apparently Apple doesn't think so either.
