Same build, no new colors or anything like that.

Always listening Siri

Really all I can think of. Hopefully Apple will focus more on not releasing a busted iOS 9 as opposed to cramming more into the S series next year.

I know it's early, but just curious as to what others think about the topic :)

- iPhone 4S got a new color, white.
- iPhone 5S got new color, gold. Touch ID with no square in the home button. Also got a new pill flash and slightly different looking camera

Do you think we'll maybe get a new color or something? I feel like it has to look just a little different from the previous model if they want more people to buy it.
No. There was a white iPhone 4, it was just super delayed after they first announced it. What set the 4S apart was Siri. If you're only speaking of cosmetic differences, the 4S is differentiated from the 4 by having the symmetrical Verizon antenna bands, and all models now have a SIM card slot. The 3GS also had silver font on the back, compared to gray on the 3G.

The differences in the S models are largely internal and software-based. Based on Apple's history, I would expect a newer, more efficient processor (possibly A9), possibly RAM increase to 2GB (not out of the question as the 3GS doubled the RAM of the 3G), possible MP-count bump (4S updated the camera of the 4), and an incremental increase to battery capacity, like almost every iPhone before it.

Externally, perhaps a revision of the much hated antenna band design?

2x faster processor
2gb ram
better camera

perhaps altering the antenna bands a bit to make a small visual distinction? that happens with every iphone S series...

3GS - chrome branding
4S - alterred antenna bands
5S - chrome touch ID ring
6S - altered antenna bands?

siri was new to the 4s and unavailable on the 4, no?

Yes, not sure why the OP is making it seem like the only thing that changed from the 4 to the 4S is a color option (which isn't even right).

The 4S brought in Siri, significantly faster processor, 1080p video-recording, better Camera, faster 3G speeds...

The 6S will definitely have faster processor/RAM, better camera, always listening-Siri etc.

As in the past the improvements will be slight but enough that they will sell many!

Those hoping for more RAM will not be happy as it will be the iPhone 7 or 8 before they add RAM.

Actually the S upgrade is usually more of a performance upgrade, I wouldn't be surprised if more RAM was added new year.

It'll be sapphire glass around the whole device

sapphire would be very nice, indeed.

So when it falls, everything shatters!!

MORE SLIMMER.... with o.5 inches thin...8.8 inches diagonally

Sure would be... if Apple's sapphire supplier hadn't just gone bankrupt under highly suspect circumstances...

Quadcore seems likely to me. A8x.

They are resturcturing there business there not going out of business, there is a big difference. Also there is few types of bankruptcys FYI

Sapphire will pry cause "shattergate" , "brittlegate", or for those who may not completely understand levels of hardness, "Vickersgate".....

The last two... 4S and 5S, improvements were massive.

I'm not sure what's left beyond a spec bump. I guess they can add OIS to the non plus. And maybe finally increase the sensor resolution.

A real black iPhone would be nice too

Sapphire Screen
2GB Ram
No antenna bands
Made from liquid metal no more alumnium
A9 Chip
M9 chip
Black color option

Apple will buy them out and integrate them, thus their "bottom line" won't really need to turn a profit.

An iPhone has never had an "X" processor. The A9 could be quad-core, though.

We won't even really know if it is going to be just another S Revision...

Apple could jump to another full generation (7) theoretically as well. They did it from when moving from the 1st iPhone to the iPhone 3G. The ever hotter and hotter market could force this change, there's a lot more than Samsung to deal with nowadays.

The iPhone 3G was an odd upgrade. Technically a new design, but internally it was pretty much the same as the 2G. Same processor, same ram, same graphics, etc. Only the baseband processor was new. And it actually had a crappier battery (1100 mah instead of 1400). I consider it to be the most incremental iPhone update ever.

I think Apple will probably stick with the S cycle, especially since they've just moved to the bigger screens.

A lot of people mentioning sapphire screens.

GT Advanced Tech files bankruptcy earlier this week. Its unlikely we'll see sapphire screens for quite sometime.

EDIT : Sorry I see it was already mentioned

They need to cut out the 'S' crap and make a new phone each year that's more than a half-step forward.

As I said earlier in the thread, evidently you're not actually reading the coverage? Because if you are you wouldn't be seriously thinking that they'd be supplying screens for iPhones any time soon.

Sapphire would indeed be welcome.

I really hope it doesn't get thinner, it feels fragile as it is.
