I'll probably be spending more time with my iPad 2 than with my new one on launch day. I'm giving the 2 to my mom so I'll be setting up her email and a flipboard for her and removing apps she doesn't want etc. and generally getting it set up for her. I'm not doing it all ahead of time because I'll be using it myself right up to the last minute.

+1. I'm passing on my iPad 2 to my cousin, so once I restore my new iPad from my backup and confirm all the setting and data have transferred properly, then I'll spend the rest of my day setting the 2 up for my cousin.

Restore from iCloud and use it as normal more than likely. Test out some of the 1080p movies and see how well they look. And then play around with Mirror on the new AppleTV.

I'm gonna spend my day saying "No!", when my kids ask me if they can play with my new iPad.

Unbox
Set it up
Install oodles of apps/movies
Lock bedroom door and hop in bed
The rest?....You don't even wanna know
;)

I'm going to look under a highly powered microscope and check each pixel individually. Unfortunately, I just finished checking the iPad 2 pixels. I fear that the 5th generation iPad may be out, before I'm ready to use this one.

When I do find the perfect iPad, I'll install it in my Delorean and then I'll be on my way back to November 5th, 1955 to meet up with Marty and Doc Brown.

Pray my backup installs properly with all relevant app info... then maybe download iPhoto and check it out...

That is what the old iPad is for :D

Unfortunately , this will be my 1st iPad and the only one in the house. Luckily I had these made up from the nice person in this thread. https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1297767/

I'll set it all up.
Add a big sticker on the back that says " The New iPad "
and go to every Starbucks I can find to show it off.

How will I spend that first day? Probably glowering at the front door waiting for the courier. Then when it arrives, driving for a couple of hours to go to that holiday I've had to miss 2 days of so I can be in to get the parcel. Then I'll set it up and spend the rest of my holiday on my macbook pro coding. Those iPad apps won't get iPad 3 compatibility on their own.

Apple should seriously consider getting hardware to devs a week earlier if they need it. Otherwise you just end up with a fair few apps that are incompatible on day 1, which is bad for the people who've bought it and bad for the devs who can't fix the issue on time - and therefore bad for apple. But I guess some devs would abuse the situation, publishing their own early reviews or selling it on ebay for huge money.

Very nice. Well enjoy it man. My kids love my iPad. They are very good as using it and finding what they want. Although my son always ends up watching girls in thongs on YouTube and he is only 6. I blame the related videos on this one lol

I will probably just watch How I Met Your Mother on Netflix all day instead of just half of the day.

After FedEx delivers my new iPad, I'll start my iCloud backup restore. While that is busy syncing, I will start my boyfriend's iPhone iCloud backup to my old iPad 2.

Once we are both setup and good to go, gonna take a trip to my mother's house, who just received and iPad 2 from my step-dad last week and all three of us will have an App Discovery Party.

My mom has an iTunes gift card that we gave her Christmas that she hasn't spent yet, so this will be a great way to show her the ropes of the App Store while we sip on wine.
