Probably did this on purpose to go viral.

It's kinda working. Here we are.
Literally my thoughts as well. Image is just fuzzy enough to cast doubt on any copyright issues.

But most likely what happened is the graphic artist working for the ad agency was using a Mac (with Adobe Creative Cloud running, you can see the icon on the menu bar, and they have some updates to install… shame on them)

They probably took a screen shot of their desktop rather than risk pulling some image of an actual windows desktop from somewhere else online which would be subject to copyright and could cost HP a dollar or two in royalties if they were caught.

Plenty of publishing houses and image repositories run a nice side gig extorting larger brands for misuse of the most absurdly mundane “images”.

Somebody who works for the company that designed the ad clearly has a problem with their boss(es) or HP because no way would an ad like that get through HP's screening process. Some people are getting fired me thinks.

Accidentally

Then HP ”accidentally“ gets exposure splashed across the internet for a humdrum ad that very few would otherwise even have noticed. Whatever 👍

Guessing it's not from HP, but a marketing agency they hired. Could be the agency decided they wanted to show a working PC, so they Photoshopped the display with what they thought was a generic Gmail screenshot, but didn't pay attention to where the screenshot came from.
Yeah, a marketing agency that may never do ads for HP again.

Well… it’s only nearly perfect. The logo on the lid still says HP instead of an apple

Agreed. The HP Z line - which you could probably say are a step above again from 'business' class - are very good Windows machines, and I'd be quite happy to be issued one for work over say a Surface Pro.
Yep, rocking here a ZBook Fury G8 17" with XEON cpu and NVIDIA RTX A5000/16GB graphics.

So this is confirmed to be real and posted by an official HP account?
Yeah that's my first thought too - this is a horrible ad and doesn't look like anything a professional would create. The copy is weak, has a typo, and the image is poorly done. It doesn't even mention the name of the product. This looks like some silly little mockup a student or someone made for class.

No. This is not the work of some silly designer using macOS with no access to a Windows machine that decided to take a screenshot of his own screen and snap it in the HP ... "The work needed to be done for yesterday". That is almost impossible to be the case.

HP must be using Hackintoshes and who knows …. maybe HP is trying to show or exposed accidentally that is so good that their hardware illegally runs macOS …. This is way more plausible.

Your brains just got hacked by Macrumors … your trusted source. Careful.

Well, why not? Spoof or just a blunder... that set aside; of course a LOT of people would love OSX on desktops/laptops other than Apple's own. That is literally the reason behind the very existance of "hackintosh" community.
Not everyone wants overpiced prosumer hardware ... people want options, options Apple refuses to provide.
