Weird, I thought they would have customized it more. Anyone can simply stick their company's logo on the back of an iPod... ;)

I just bought some whiteout and i'm making a stencil of my name. i will begin selling "Patrick" branded iPods on ebay tomorrow. And maybe I'll have a webcast with sound to announce it.

I wonder if HP's iTunes is the same as Window's iTunes

I wonder if HP's iTunes is the same as Window's iTunes. Here is iTunes' download page from HP's website:

The header says: Download iTunes (New) 4.6 for HP and Compaq.

I am trying Safari etc and have windows media player open but all I get from HP is

"Internet Explorer 5 or higher, and
a Windows operating system are
required to view this webcast.

Please try to re-enter the webcast in
*Windows and in Internet Explorer."

I just got sound again. Playing music.

Can't hear the guy talking.

Look, that should b e no deterence to a multimedia broadcast by the company who also sports on the same website a half hour add about the future of technology (their technology) and how cool it will be to use multimedia wirelessly...

This could be a reason for buying the HP iPod

there is a full year of phone support for HP's iPod, while Apple's only permits for "one incident" in the first 90 days for technical support.

One thing I did is go to Debug-menu, User Agent, Windows IE 6.0

This just shows you what a state we will be in if the Windows monopoly is not crushed. Otherwise anyone who doesn't want to use poor quality, insecure software to acces digital content will be out of luck.

Makes me want to send Bill Gates some dog poo in the mail.

Grr!!!

I just got this message too. It will launch if I set Safari to Windows MSIE 6.0. Don't know if it will actually display the webcast yet...

Well, setting safari to win msie 6.0 got me past the "you can't see this" error message, but no action on the screens. I can't tell whether the webcast has begun yet or not.

On another note: There's a comments/contact link on the initial hp webcast page. I used that to send HP a message telling them how ill-advised i thought their exclusionary webcast was, especially under the circumstances of an apple-partnered product announcement. There's also an HP number at another link, and HQ has a department that takes messages it says will get to the CEO. It really is ridiculous. I hope they develop products with more intelligence and common sense than they market them with.
