LoL based on what?
Your opinion that is fundamentally not backed up by anything? When did Samsung say they are willing right now to sell these displays for anybody that wants to pay for them?

Apple waits because it has no other choice. If they want to use the best foldable OLED on the market they have to wait.

It’s based on the fact that Appoe is the biggest company in the world and has a lot more pull than you’re giving them credit for. If Huawei can get their hands on screens, so can Apple. Either way, the flaws are too apparent right now that it doesn’t much matter. It’ll be a few more years before anything of value will hit the market.

That's quite a poor made up argument and ultimately nothing concrete. The funny thing is Samsung is a bigger company than Apple anyway, Samsung Electronics alone as more than double the number of employees Apple has.
Also about Huawei, they don't use Samsung screens: https://edition.cnn.com/2018/11/30/tech/samsung-china-tech-theft/index.html

and has a lot more pull than you’re giving them credit for.

That's just you assumption.

So in the end you just made a statement for which you have absolutely no proof.

Is because they are trying to sell qualities below “prototype” hardwares..? They should stay in their companies, not sold in the mass market.
My god.

Have you read about or bought a 2018 iPad Pro?

Apple, should get out of the tablet market since they have an admitted bend possibility/probability with the iPad Pros, right?

I own the 12.9. It has a bend at the antenna break. I can live with it since I love the thing’s performance.

You have no proof either. Your argument is based on you just thinking they wouldn’t sell their biggest customer screens and mine is based on Apple being their biggest customer and having all the money they need to get foldable screens. Just the fact that Apple isn’t wasting their time with a foldable Frankenstein device doesn’t mean they couldn’t. Yup, I know Huawei doesn’t get their screens from Samsung. That’s why it’s not as crazy as you think to get foldable screens.

Macrumors consensus:

Gee, Samsung and Huwaei both have foldable displays, why doesn’t Apple? Apple must not be innovating anymore, they just care about price points and not what the consumers wants.”

Realistic view:

Apple doesn’t have to release a foldable display at this very point in time to compete against the likes of Samsung and Huawei. They _never_ release their products alongside the competition on their schedules, they do it on their time when they think the technology is likely mature enough and when they can implement it in their own fashion. That’s how Apple works, and a lot of members here seem to believe Apple should have this technology ready ‘right now’, then they truly don’t understand Apple or their methodology at all. If and when Apple releases a foldable iPhone, it will likely be very much different from the competition, and _that_ is what makes Apple unique with their product line.

This phone and the Samsung folding phone really feel next gen. IMO the folding screen is one of the largest leaps forward we've seen in a long time.

Things changing in 2 years is unlikely. When you fold a screen around like on Huawei you will always have that hardcover book effect with a noticeable ridge in the place where it folds. Looks horrible.

Overcoming the crease or distortions at the hinge point is going to be a huge technical challenge for all these foldable devices.

Yea I am not really banking on it myself, nor would I have any use for such a device, but we’ll see how the tech matures. All I know is that right now it’s not up to standard.

My argument is very plausibly based on the fact that Samsung most likely can't(right now) manufacture many foldable screens and they will be able to sell without any problems most of their devices that will uses these foldable screens.

Your argument is based on Nothing.

There no way Apple would be willing to pay Samsung enough money to force them to make the decision of postponing Galaxy Fold in order for Apple to get enough screens to launch a similar device this year. I would say its just impossible.

Huawei got their hands on foldable display tech in different ways but ultimately they don't use Samsung OLED screens and that's quite obvious.

But you are right, if Apple wanted to use similar display tech devices like that Flexpai thing uses they could get their hand on it. If they want to use the best they will have to wait for quite a while.

Well you saying they “most likely can’t” is just as much nothing as my argument. Yes I am right, Apple can get foldable screens if they wanted to. I’m sure they have their prototypes and are playing around with ideas but no reason to rush to market with obvious compromises like we have today. They’ll wait until they have a compelling product.

Also no camera in “tablet” mode. These two things are built not with compromises but out of compromises. Just as an example people went mental because Magic Mouse has charging port on the bottom.

Personally for me these topics help filter all the “bright” thinkers of today.

Yeah, but will it prove to be a form factor that consumers want? I was always amazed at "slide out" or flip out screens that revealed a full sized mobile keyboard underneath the screen. It seemed to be the best of both worlds. You got a touch sensitive smartphone and a keyboard. Apparently, most people didn't share my enthusiasm. I actually owned two such (early versions) of these kind of devices and it was so rare for me to encounter another owner that I felt like giving hugs and blowing kisses anytime I ran into someone else who had one.

When did Samsung say they aren’t willing?or is that just like your opinion man?

At the moment this technology isn’t really a solution, unless the problem is “how to i best get a screen with a giant crease down the middle?”

What’s the use case for this over say an XSMax? It’s twice as thick, has a weird screen ratio, a giant crease down the middle and costs way more.

LoL based on what?

Well I have more common sense that you, that's why I don't make absolute claims(for which I have 0 proof) and try to back them up with the ridiculous premise that: X company is the biggest in the would and they have a lot of pull.

Anyway my argument is also based on the fact that Galaxy Fold will be a limited edition, Samsung will only make 1 million units. So this only strengthens what I said about Samsung not being able to make may foldable screens and having no reason to sell them to a competitor.

And yes Apple is probably experimenting with Flexpai type screens. How exciting.

Impressive :D

They’ll wait until they have a compelling product.

Well of course they don't have a compelling product right now. That's what I've been saying all along.

At least follow the conversation and try to understand what I meant before just attacking me.

There’s another possibility, of course, that foldable phones simply don’t represent the future of smartphone technology. While companies like Samsung and Huawei are busy trying to look for the next big thing, Apple is already slowly but surely pivoting towards wearables.

But no, as always, the popular opinion is that Apple must be doomed simply because they aren’t entering a niche product category with dubious potential.

Ah the common sense argument. So based on nothing as expected. Well the Huawei version already bested the Samsung version by having a full front screen and no gap so maybe Flexpai would be the right screen to experiment with. Yes, nobody has a compelling product right now, we have products full of creased screens and other compromises. It’s all junk.

Don’t be so touchy. No ones attacking you.

There’s no proof either way what Samsung would do if Apple even wanted their screens right now.

As I pointed out, there are so many shortcomings with foldable phones right now, I doubt there are many even wanting to buy the screens. They are more likely trying to overcome the design issues first.

Like how to make a fold that’s invisible

It's an interesting demo that's all. Not a consumer level product.

Damn right. Not being able to use a device when it runs low on battery was just the fecking worst design decision (apart from the Apple Pencil charging) I have ever seen from Apple.
Remember, this is Apple from whom we expect the highest quality, most thought out products ever to hit the shelves.
It's almost like they got lazy and just wanted to re-purpose a load of unsold Magic Mice!

Spin it how you like but your argument is the one that's based on absolutely nothing what so ever. It's not even plausible in any way.

Well with Samsung and Huawei we'll see after the reviews come out (if we have common sense and don't just call their devices junk because we don't like anything smartphone related thta's not made by apple) but Apple definitely doesn't have anything compelling to show this year and I don't see this changing anytime soon.
