I’m offering facts about the products as we see them today. A creased screen is now an opinion? Feel free to be the first in line for this junk if you want, but these issues are clearly visible to anyone who watched the videos.
[doublepost=1551050438][/doublepost]

I think you are a bit lost. Yes, I can look at a video of a device with a creased screen and call it junk. I can also say the HomePod is not junk because of first hand knowledge and the fact that reviews say the same. Your two examples don’t correlate at all.
No, it's you who is lost as you have missed the whole point of my post, the irony is clearly lost on you.

For me, something else. I want a tablet with a flat screen. A screen that should be flat, but instead has a crease is a major fail.

You pretending a tablet with a creased screen must be experienced first hand before criticizing it isn’t as clever as you seem to think.
There's no pretending about it, you've formed your opinion based on a ~ 4 minute, poorly done video (some of it out of focus, repeating the same video over again, etc.) You have no experience with it, haven't seen it in person, haven't read any reviews, yet you've concluded this "crease" is some big issue. I watched the video, I saw the "crease" so I know what you're referring to. Yet nothing in that video revealed the "crease" to be an issue. So yes, I do expect someone to have experience (or at least read reviews of those who do) before concluding a device is a failure (or a success).

Except that's not what the dude said. He said, "Smart move by Apple not to release anything like this. Too many compromises, terrible materials, no real value to consumers, and a bad experience overall."

I guess I’m interpreting it differently than you. I’m interpreting it as him being glad Apple hasn’t released a foldable screen with visible distortions. Not that it is smart of Apple to not ever release a foldable screen.

Some would argue that the crease and the clearly visible distortion it caused is the issue in itself...

Haha good luck with your debice then. I personally wouldn’t accept a screen with a huge crease down the middle of it. Just an FYI, you can multitasks and stream with tablets and phones today, without the compromise of a creased screen.

Eh, not on iOS not like these new phones are. They are running three apps at once, you could have iOS notes open, Safari and Netflix all at the same time up on your screen while you copy notes from Safari and paste into Notes and have Netflix running as background noise or whatever. Then fold up your phone again and it’s stil an amazing phone with an unprecedented camera. Because finally a focus was left behind on “thin”, or because the tech doesn’t support it yet...massive batteries too. Might be possible these phones last quite a while without recharging. Might be a game-changer! Apple is lagging behind for self-driving cars. Sad!

Please detail this distortion. Does it cause the screen to become dimmer at that location? Does it cause aspect ratio issues? Do the pixels deform? Is the picture less sharp?

Interesting that you find it acceptable to label a product you have not even used yet or even seen in the flesh junk, yet you find it unacceptable to call the Homepod junk which people have actually used. Please tell me more :)
You can tell a lot by looking at this thing that it will be a compromise to use. You have to unfold with 2 hands, it has a plastic screen, the front screen is too small, it is incredibly thick, it will likely be heavy, it runs Android, etc.

See how I can know a lot just by looking?

HomePod could not be heard without listening to one, and the sound quality is its most important feature.

See how you’re comparing Apples and oranges?

It’s a good effort kiddo, but again, might want to sit the next few plays out. You’re not as witty as you think, regardless of how many lol’s and smileys you put in your posts.
Clearly you have zero idea what you are talking about, but please go on, it's entertaining to say the least. Please tell us more about the Galaxy fold that you have so thoroughly reviewed.

I think these will be market viable as they become thinner and use a screen material that consistently remains taut after folding. I predict a couple more years.

From a head-on viewing angle it is probably noticeable maybe to a negligent amount. It’s only the camera viewing it from an angle and with direct overhead light do we see emphasis on “The Crease”

Do tell...how is it a compromise to use? Details please.

It looks like crap in the video. I can see it clearly.

You think it’s going to look better in person?

It’s also WAY too thick, the front screen is too small, and it solves zero problems. Yes, I can tell all of that by looking at it.

I don’t think any of that would be a very good experience on a phone screen, but to each their own.

You don’t need to review a device to see a crease down the middle of the screen. That’s only going to get worse with time.

Says who? The US government?

Huawei’s privacy policy.

The "crease" is clearly obvious in the video. The question is: Does it affect the usability of the device? Does it cause image distortion in the area where it creases? Does it negatively affect the input sensitivity in the area? None of the detractors can answer any of these questions. All they can say is "it exists".

The issue is the existence of a crease. I won’t pay $2,600 for a display with a visible crease.

You can downplay it all you want, but it has a crease and thus I don’t want it. Not for $500, $1,000, not for $2,000, and certainly not for $2,600.

Others can go ahead and buy it if it doesn’t bother them, but it bothers me.

It looks like crap in the video. I can see it clearly.

From your angle. LCD looks like crap from the side too, or used too. The viewer of the screen won’t see so much refraction of light off the screen from their viewing angle. It will be noticeable but not in a crumpled wallpaper type of way like you’re probably thinking. And even so...it will be worth it to many. First iPhone didn’t have 3G connectivity and only ran on one network and people still bought it because it combines multiple devices. That’s what this is doing.
