We need 4 cameras. 2 in the front and 2 in the back. Tilted the right way they could also act as a 360 camera!

Apple in trouble? I wonder how many companies would give there right arm to be in that kind of trouble!

Depends from which perspective you look at it, sure they have a huge warchest, though so did giants like Sony, Microsoft etc, thier slow and steady downfall came when innovation dried up. TC does not strike me as an individual pushing apple to lead, but maximising it's markert share on top of great products he inherited. In my opinion, product changes under TC have been geared for max profit. (Increase in AC, repair costs, reduction of student discounts, glued computers etc)

For the next 5-10 years we can say apple is in a fantastic financial position....even longer . Though come the iPhone 7 launch, we will see if there are still huge lines globally....even if there are no lines, apple financially will be great, but it tells you the consumer is loosing faith, which will take many many many years to see the full consequences due to apples warchest, but it's when it starts.

Interesting times ahead. My problem is that I cannot find a single apple computer product that I consider superior to what I already own , especially given the prices. The only one is the iMac, but it's get damn expansive for someone used to putting his own ssd drives in.....

I really think this is spot on. I still have my 4. Just awesome.

Something crazy about that many cameras and the peculiar arrangement that makes it so lovely to me.

Same. Will never get rid of the 4, as its my favourite iPhone design by far. My dream phone is the 4 design with today's internals

Exactly. Phones and traditional cameras are two different beings.
Whilst I don’t disagree. Miniature camera quality has become so good for Joe Public that ‘real’ DSLRs are now specialist. Or they soon will be.

....do not effect any iPhone function.

There, completed it for you, looks like you were in a hurry and didn't complete the sentence.
I’m pretty sure a certain Mr. Ive would describe the aesthetics as a function of the device.

I see that you must've think very highly of yourself to use your own opinion as fact.
Though seeing your past comments, you seems to be a super negative person. FACT!
Something seems to be a fact???

I remember getting my hands on the iPhone 4, and appreciate the comment Steve made comparing it to a Leica camera, it was a phone so far ahead of the competition at the time. Now apple is part of the herd, I like my 6S but it's no iPhone 4 in relation to the design at the time, looks more like its followed Others. Frankly disappointed we would get this design a 3 red year, as you say , getting lazy
What phones where similar with the 6 and 6+ came out? The only aluminum phone I remember was htc. The year after every phone started copying the similar aluminum and sleeker designs. All I remember from 2014 was iPhones design. 2015 everyone changed from their plastic crap.

Why is plastic crap?

Was it crap when the original iMacs, iPhones and PowerMacs were all made from it?

Many of the world's biggest companies have gotten complacent in the past and paid the price, it can happen to anyone. Polaroid, Nokia, Pan Am? Even Sony are a shadow of their former selves. Apple has definitely been losing its mojo the last couple of years and the figures are beginning to show that.

Fanboys will say "but Apple is different, they're too big to fail", I'm pretty sure that's what many others have said in the past too. People won't just throw their money at Apple forever if the product lacks that special something it did in the past. The competition have rapidly improved and are already starting to pull ahead both in design and technical terms in some cases, like it or not.

The awful bumps...

Agreed 100%. The iPhone 4 was a thing of beauty, a design classic. Like a high end watch. The 5 was a downgrade, and the 6, my word, what a mess. Now we have the "7", if rumours are to be believed, and it's an object of pure ugliness. Apple have fallen so far behind even low grade Chinese manufacturers such as Huawei, let alone Samsung or HTC. Sad days. Perhaps Jony is too concerned making space ship buildings now, or maybe he's just counting his millions.

Yeah the HTC M7 comes to mind. The point is the 4S was unlike anything in the industry at the time , the 6S shares similarities with other phones , it's part of the pack, refined Apple style

But at the time of the 6. Not the S there wasn't phones similar. I personally liked the 6 design over the 5. The 4 was my favorite though.
Can't knock apple for having the design first then people copying it the following year. With all the aluminum sleek iPhone look alikes.

Well my point is they could be in an even better position.
So could everyone else!

I agree with the earlier comment... some companies would give there right arm to be in Apple's kind of trouble.

People say Apple is doomed if they only make $8 billion in profit instead of $10 billion.

And yet... some companies will NEVER make a single billion in profit... let alone ten billion.

You need to give the "better position" pep-talk to some other companies. They need it more.

Sorry but the HTC M7 came out long before the iPhone 6, had the similar antenna lines that Apple seemed to copy (badly) and arguably was a smarter looking device.

I've owned the iPhone 3G, 4, 5 and 6, I'm due an upgrade in September and for the first time in many years I'm thinking of moving away from Apple because I seriously don't think they're concerned with much aside from profit at the moment, product design seems to be becoming secondary to them.

Apple is the only one I really care about, apart from Tesla.

Those photos look great. That's just a Chinese company...imagine what Apple will do with right hardware and software intergration of the same technology.

Don't underestimate the capabilities of Chinese companies! They are capable of producing much more than just cheap plastic toys or all the other daily goods we consume that all say "Made in China" on them!
The pace they have been catching up as far as technology and research is concerned, could be compared to the Japanese catch up game 30+ years ago. There will be a point in time, where they are on paar and will surpass the western technology companies and I don't see that in the too far future.

Camera quality is so good now, there isn't any feeling in the photos, they're so crisp and sterile, compared to the artefacts of older ones. Looks like a real need for filter apps more than ever today.

That would be soooooo gooooood!

Mixed bag, I actually think some of the iPhone shots look nicer.

That Android skin is a bit of a blatant copy of iOS isn't it - check out the folders in the vid on page 2!

They most certainly were!

I bet someone got the sack for that!

Chinese manufacturers in "faking and exaggerating things" shocker. It's not right, but it's generally advisable not to believe any marketing you see from that country in the first place.

This is the first time I may well leave the iPhone behind, chromecasts are all over my house, my MacBook is beautiful and shall stay but if these latest androids have a kick ass battery life and the next iPhone is meh I think its time to change.

I think the dual camera will be a great feature on the iPhone 7 Plus, i think some people will be annoyed that it's not included on the smaller iPhone 7 but maybe Apple couldn't include it because of it's smaller size. The option of a 256GB iPhone makes sense along side a dual camera, the image files will probably be bigger than they are currently, and will fill up iPhone storage much quicker, this could also be why Apple may add a 32GB as standard rather than the current 16GB.

Also don't Apple hold a patent for a camera system that is able to take a picture from far away and a close up shot, and then combine the image to allow the user to focus on other images after the picture has been taken?

EDIT: they hold a patent for a zoom lens style system http://www.igeeksblog.com/apple-dual-camera-zoom-lens-system-for-upcoming-idevices-07012016/

There is even a video demo https://www.macrumors.com/2016/03/07/apple-dual-camera-iphone-interface/

I figured as much. Claim you work for some company and can't share proprietary information. Then claim Apple isn't forward looking without ever having to back up your claims.

Do you think anyone believes you? All you had to do was name a device with NVMe that's on the market. That would prove Apple wasn't the only one. But you couldn't.
[doublepost=1468988151][/doublepost]

Or using processing in software you can "zoom" between two fixed length cameras. So many possibilities depending on what type of cameras are used.
Do I care what you believe? No. You seem to be getting a little upset over this. There are devices with it, and this seems to bug you for some odd reason. Anyway, I'm not going to keep going back and forth. It's a company, not your mother.

You'll have to wait for the iPhone 9 to see.
I'm hoping Nikon do something similar. I can't wait to start carrying 2 X 70-200mm f 2.8'swith me! I better join a gym!
No offense, but just imagining a Nikon with 2 lenses attached is making laugh.
