its beyond me why anyone would even WANT a glossy screen![]()
That is definitely a matte screen, go back into the Apple store or call them and explain the situation, I'm sure they'll be more than happy to sort out the mistake for you and they may even provide you with a discount for your trouble.
There shouldn't be a restocking fee if it is their mistake.Just realised I might be in a position to review matte & glossy side by side if I get to hold onto this whilst waiting for the slow boat from China again..
Danger is that I'll end up sending back the glossy though LOLJust gotta make sure I get enough discount to cover the restocking fee then...

The glossy vs. matte fanboyism is getting very old very fast.
That is a matte screen in the OP. I chose glossy out of personnal preference. Not because it makes me a better person.
Hey, I completely agree.
I think it's just a matter of personal preference and to each his own.
I just thought that that posters comment wasn't necessary.
excuse me, i was just asking what the appeal was for glossy screens, god you people are so sensitive
hey if you like seeing your reflection in your monitor be my guest..i just dont get it
Well I have to bottle up my anger until 8am now as the store is now closed. Maybe not a bad thing as I'll probably be somewhat more civil in the morning!
Maybe I should at least push for a 5400 -> 7200 upgrade hehe

Ignoring the Matte V Glossy battle, if I were you, I would demand that they ship you the proper computer before you return yours. Their mistake shouldn't be your problem.
And that is NOT a glossy. I have owned the two at the same time (matte v glossy) and the Macbook Pro's glossy screen is one of the glossiest out there, rivaling the Imac.
I love how people are saying "I think that's glossy."
COME ON! There's no doubt that Apple goofed up on this on.
My fiancee's iMac is a glossy (newest model), and that thing is kick-butt. It's nice to have a glossy around every now and then. It sure is nice for watching movies ... all 24" of it.
People just like rich, darker colors, and sharper images, so people get glossy (i am not trying/starting this debate over again) Some people can handle the glare, some people can't basically. All about preference.
i guess its all a matter of opinion, we set my MBP right next to my friends Glossy mbp and opened the same picture (was showing a co-worker the difference as she was trying to decided if she wanted a macbook) and the images looked almost exactly the same, only difference, you could see the reflections of the florescent lighting in his and not in mine...so i guess this is why i dont understand the appeal of glossy screens
