This is Humiliating as an Apple fan, I don’t want to witness Apple’s blunder after blunder and fall like Intel is now a clown of it former self.

I don’t expect every iPhone 12 SKU to use a high end 6.8” 120hz OLED 2K Display but I do expect the highest end 12 Pro Max 5G iPhone to have a 120hz Display.

As I was reading the latest Rumors on MacRumors it’s been all but leaked and confirmed that NO iPhone 12 model will have 120hz Display.

Thats A deal breaker.
How can they do this.? When Razer, Samsung, HTC, Asus, Lenovo, Sony and more all have phones with 120hz displays and if you have ever use one there’s no going backwards.

Ok? I personally don’t care for a 120hz screen. I rather have my battery life and higher res screen. The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra AMD Note 20 ultra both have it BUT at 1080p not at QHD. Idk about the other phones but I rather have the higher then 1080p res.

I do agree here. Apple is falling behind the pack with screen tech again; just not LCD this time

I would say more than 120hz is the notch. Its the same huge 2017 notch that no other phone maker is doing anymore. Even $350 now have a tiny punchhole. If Apple cant shrink the Face ID tech then its time to move on from it. Working with no issues under display cameras are still years off

Oh good grief! No matter what they release, it’ll be fine. It’ll sell by the millions and Apple will be on their way to a $3tn valuation as a result.

And then next year, when 120Hz comes out, they’ll sell even more.

The vast majority of buyers really won’t care. As long as it has enough new shiny things, the 120Hz shiny thing can wait.

All this is based on the rumors there’ll be no 120Hz this year. We’ll know in just over a month how accurate the rumors are, then.

Do you own a device with faceID? I do and I like it, see no reason to move on from it just because they cant shrink it to a pin hole. Never understood this form over function argument. Phones are not just fashion statements.

In my opinion, assuming the rumours are true, the 12 pro range this year is piss poor. Smaller batteries, same size notch, no Pro-motion. Slightly better cameras and a LIDAR sensor. I can’t see a single selling point if you’ve got the 11 Pro.

As said above, they really are slipping behind again. Completely unacceptable at this price point.

But also as said above, they will still sell shed loads and make even more money that quite frankly they don’t deserve to make.

However, yes I will get one. I change every year, but normally because I really want to, but this year there is absolutely zero compelling reason apart from tax purposes for me.

So I own an iPad Pro (120hz screen) and an iPad Air (60hz). I move between them seamlessly, it's a matter of which is closer at hand. Never once have I thought, wow, this screen on the air is a real dog. or wow, how much better the iPad Pro screen is. Never notice it. just use it. After reading comments like yours about how you cant go back (I've seen them on reddit as well) I will put them side by side and then I can see a difference. Not a night and day difference, but a difference. My solution is to not use them side by side at the same time.

All of which is to say, I think picking your phone by the refresh rate is another example of not focusing on what is important.

The 120 Hz screen is a subtle thing, yet not. Anyone can tell the difference when comparing two screens, one at 60 Hz and one at 120 Hz. I know that when the 10.5" iPad Pro was released and I went to Best Buy to check it out, I was dumbfounded at how excellent the screen was--and I had no idea about screen refresh technology, just touching the screen of the iPad was enough to tell something wonderful had been done.

Eventually iPhones will use 120 Hz or the variable-refresh technology that the iPad uses. Not everyone will notice, but nearly everyone will love it.

Tech nerds don't realize they are the exception and a small niche of people who buy Apple products. They think everything they want is what the average person wants.

Actually I hope they DON’T have 120hz screens. Waste of battery life, which is most important IMO, and not worth the trade off.

I have an iPhone 7 Plus and 10.5 iPad Pro... no one in my family can see any difference between the two regarding refresh rates.

Well, I guess you’re viewing it wrong. Apparently the difference is mind numbing to behold!

I've owned a Samsung S20+, Pixel 4 XL, OnePlus 7 Pro, own a 2018 11" iPad Pro, 120Hz refresh rate laptop, and 144Hz refresh rate PC monitor. I am totally fine with my peasant 60Hz refresh rate iPhones, and will be OK with a peasant 60hz iPhone 12. I sold my S20+, Pixel, OnePlus, and have "gone backwards" to my iPhone 11 Pro Max and SE2.

The fantastic responsiveness of the S20+ is largely due to the 240Hz touch sampling rate. The iPhone 11 series have 120Hz touch sampling rate which makes things appear very fluid and smooth. So it isn't just about 60Hz refresh rate with the iPhone.

I would never consider Razer, Asus Bling Phone, HTC (they are dead), or a Sony 21:9 aspect ratio abomination for my phone.

No USB-C
No 120hz Display
No AptX-HD or LDAC High Res Audio codec support
No Dual Bluetooth Pairing
No WiFi 6 (just kidding I hope they have WiFi 6) MacBooks Dont but that’s a whole other rant.

I’ll just go but a Note 20 Ultra. (That’s an iPhone 13 Pro Max from 2022 Today it’s like an iPhone just Samsung tech hasn’t trickled down yet)

I am ashamed of Apple. Apple need to innovate

The function is a bigger display with more content. and while mask wearing is mandatory for already half a year now and who knows for how long, a finger print reader helps big time

I despise the notch, but to be fair to apple the notch will shrink in size for the iphone 12 models. They do also offer the iphone SE with flagship internals as an alternative which is touch id, and there may be a iphone SE plus next year with in screen/power button touch id. I know these are not flagship iphones, but the best ios experience we can get without a notch.

You have been using Apple iPhones without those features and all of a sudden, it is a deal breaker to not have them? Your buying history kills your own argument.

i still can’t believe that a lot of people upgraded from the x to the Xs. That is all the proof I need that people will buy something just because it’s new.
Not sure why people are saying a “small” percentage only wants/cares about 120Hz. I’m telling you it’s more than that, hopefully not many people ”upgrade” this year.

I bought my 11 pro for $850 ( financed tho ) for that reason and the fact I prefer it over the rumors. I’m happy with my purchase.

Eh. I like my iPad Pro 11 but I use my iPhone 11 Pro more. I prefer the oled screen and the convenience since I have my iPhone with me always. The difference in refresh is a non factor for me. Nice to have sure but idc.

It’s not. The average joe doesn’t care. If you cared that much you’ll buy that Android device by now. Apple sells plenty of phones still and for majority of the people they wouldn’t care but they would see a difference of battery life.

Well given that it’s not been confirmed by Apple and we don’t have any official confirmation I’m not too concerned. Also, if it’s not on this round of iPhones we can more than likely assume it had something to do with Covid affecting that and not Apple leaving it out on purpose.
