After following people I’m reading that 120 on the Note absolutely destroys and kills the battery. But when you enable it to 60 the battery life is very good.
Doesn't kill my note ultra. Lasts me all day now and this is with exynos version

The usuals on MR will make up any excuse why Apple cant step up to the plate. Despite YOU CAN TURN IT OFF IF YOU WANT. It's not being forced on anyone. It's mind-boggling honestly to argue against expanding capabilities- and it you dont want it, dont use it. It's so very simple.

The same way a Telsa can do 0-60 in 2.3 seconds in 'Ludicrous +' mode, but most arent driving round in that mode. The battery would be dead in an hour. Being able to do it is user choice IF you want to for however long you want or dont want to.

It's utterly amazing there are still people who argue against more choice for the consumer while defending a faceless corporation (who NEVER deserve your allegiance as they are in business for the most profit possible and duty to its shareholders)

If apple do get 120hz right you know people will change their tune

But of course. BEST THING SINCE SLICED BREAD OMGZZZZ!!! Apple changed the game!!!!

I just dont get it; its utterly illogical. If you couldnt turn it off then I get the argument. Battery life etc.

But not when you can choose to or not use it. What exact harm is there then? Everyone gets what they want

I think that that the notch looks pretty stupid, but there’s a reason why Android phones have a punch hole, because their Face ID technology isn’t secure. Personally, I would prefer a under screen fingerprint reader, but it’s really not a dealbreaker.

Agree as well. That has been my other pain point complaint besides the refresh rate; and to me a bigger deal than display hertz.

At some point you have to decide to keep doing a George Jefferson haircut (Flossy Carter credit there) notch or move on. Under display tech is years off. If you cant shink it then its abandon it or keep doing the notch.

There is a reason Hauwei and Google spent all the time and money to implement it and ditched it. It's a dead-end tech without space inside the device and on the front of the device. The in-display scanner is one tiny thin board and ribbon cable in terms of volume.

And with covid and masks its not ideal. Id much rather have a full display with a tiny punch or tiny teardrop for the camera and ultrasonic scanner.

I guess it doesn't really feel like a "pro" device for those prices without 120hz, no real multi tasking or pencil support.

Surface Duo and Note 20 Ultra feel more Pro like devices to me.

The pro moniker is dumb since nobody does any “pro” work on a phone. I never had the urge to write an essay, edit videos or code on a 6in screen.

How do y know Apple have managed to implement it as well as Samsung? It might be that on Apples tests it’s completely reduced battery life and it was fine tuned enough to release this year. There is an effect on battery life according to the reviewers I’ve watched and it’s good that it can be turned off. Personally for me it’s such a minor improvement that I’m not bothered whether an iPhone has it or not this year. It’s nothing to do with being illogical or defending Apple as I have nothing to gain from that personally. Just my view on what I’ve learned.

The same can be said for any mobile phone I would have thought. I wouldn’t want to write an extended document on anything other than a computer. Pro is just a marketing term I would say much like Note.

When I have file grievances at work, I actually type my statements out on my XS Max to email to my shop steward. If they were written down on paper they would’ve came out to 3-4 pages (she prints them out to file them), and I have little issues with typing. I actually type faster on my XS Max than I do my 10.5 iPad Pro and 11.6 inch HP laptop, hence why I always turn to my phone.

Same. I type way faster on my iPhone than I do on my iPad.

Oh yeah 100% I’m taking screen shots. The whole we don’t need 120hz crowd. Will be drenched in hippocrites salad dressing.

Oh wow only Apple can do this etc. B.S. Wake Up Apple is a Samsung customer. That’s where you get your tech from. LPDDR5 RAM = Samsung. 120hz OLED display = Samsung. Gorilla Glass 6 = Corning

AppleID = less secure It’s a marketing advertising Trojan Horse where one day Ads can only be Skipped if you are Really Watching That’s what the cameras is for Marketing Adverting Not Security

120hz is really nice on the ipad pro, so it should be a feature for iphones as well. If they are going big with design changes and better specs this year, why not put in the 120 hz as well? If they are so concerned about battery, have it optional and set the phone to 60 hz by default. Let people who want to use 120 hz fiddle with the settings to enable it. Is that so hard?

I knew there would be someone who wrote long essays on their phone when I wrote that but thought what the hell, I was going to say it anyway. The autocorrect is too poor on phones for me to write long documents and it’s frustrating going over text correcting words the phone has decided to change. I can type fast on a phone too but it’s taxing and much easier in my view on a proper keyboard given the choice. I use a 17.1” workstation for my job so we use the best tools at our disposal I suppose and for some it’s a phone.

Pro just means a better version of a base product, just like the iPad Pro, AirPods Pro and MacBook Pro. Apple can’t help it if people choose to interpret their naming conventions in a manner that was never originally intended.

In my view — it‘s useless to debate what constitutes a ’pro‘ device and what doesn’t.
When it comes to 120 Hz – I’d love to see that tech, its wonderful on my iPad Pro. I don’t care if it constitutes a ‘pro’ enough feature for some folks in here, it‘s really nice to have, albeit not earth-shattering. I’m more interested in what are their plans when it comes to LiDAR, its not very useful on my iPad for now, will see what’s their vision for it on a phone. (I personally won’t be buying any iPhone this time around, spending more than 1000 euros on my 11 Pro Max less than 10 months ago is more than my wallet can handle in this short period of time and in the current economy).

Well the Human eye can see a limit of 1000FPS thats 99% of people. Now that’s leaving vision out of the equation just movement because not everyone has 20/20 and can appreciate 4K or 8K etc.
Lets focus (pun intended) Visual movement which Everyone can appreciate. 120hz is key Hallmark in tech advancement

I’ve personally decided to upgrade all my tech on 3 Levels to unlock my full potential, quality of life and creativity to my maximum. They are In no particular order.

#1. WiFi 6
#2. 4K OLED displays TV’s, phones, Laptops all OLED
#3. 120hz to 144hz Display Gaming GSYNC 10-bit monitors And 120hz phones. IPad Pro Motion 120

these 3 Life upgrades Give unlimited life enjoyment and take the limits off your personal creativity and life enjoyment.

over the last 12 months it’s been an amazing transformation.
