Mad Men was the GOAT. It is one of the greatest ever depictions of the absolute carnage the American advertising industry has wrought on society, and the moral depravity of the elites who run it. It is Hamm's defining role.
If you think Mad Men is the worst of the American advertising industry, you should check out Amazon, Google and Facebook sometime ;)

Apple needs to focus on quality, not star power.
How do you quantify quality when star power is how most viewers and entertainment industry pros would define as the most important metric for quality? There is no sum of money, prestigious award, pool of talent or tech company algorithm in the world that can guarantee a hit.

He also seems like such a down to earth dude, which for me anyway, adds to the irony of the ad. I'm sure that was the point though.

Jon Hamm, as Don Draper, perfectly played in one of the most nuanced and interesting character studies in modern television. His acting performance is on the level of James Gandolfini in my opinion. Madmen was an incredibly well written show mainly about the psychological downfall and growth of several disparate characters set in a 1960's Madison Avenue advertising agency. The core of the show is demonstrating how people who generally appear "successful" can be afflicted with tragic and deep-seated Shakesperean type flaws that result in disastrous consequences.

If Apple is hinting of a project with Jon Hamm, count me in as a viewer.

Apple TV+ today shared a humorous new ad called "Everyone but Jon Hamm" that is set to air during NFL playoff games this weekend, according to Adweek.

In the ad, actor Jon Hamm sits in a lavish home and scrolls through Apple TV+ while humorously complaining about how Apple's original TV shows and films feature numerous big-name celebrities, except for himself.

Hamm refers to many stars who appear in Apple TV+ originals, including Samuel L. Jackson, Billie Eilish, Tom Holland, Chris Evans, Jason Sudeikis, Tom Hanks, Denzel Washington, Frances McDormand, Jason Momoa, Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Mahershala Ali, Octavia Spencer, Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd, and Jon Stewart.

"With Hollywood's biggest stars in front of and behind the camera, Apple TV+ has pretty much everyone… but Jon Hamm," said Apple.

Priced at $4.99 per month or $49.99 per year, Apple's streaming video service competes with the likes of Netflix and Disney+. Apple TV+ offers nearly 100 original series and films, including the award-winning comedy series Tad Lasso.

"Seriously, I could have done Lasso," said Hamm, disappointedly.

Looks similar to Tim Cook’s new home in Palm Springs…

There seems to be a load of posters who respond to these videos with the same comment “who is this guy?” And I say to them, who do you think you are that we should judge anyone by whether you know them or not unless you are the all seeing eye. we don’t want to know how shallow your pool of knowedge is. Just saying.?

most people like to think its the performers that make the show.

the writers and directors are just as important,

or IMHO MORE important.

probably a balance, been loads of **** films that were saved by actors performances.
The actors have to have the writers material to perform, also the directors to have the overall vision on the film and their direction.

Pirates of the Caribbean comes to mind. (entire franchise)

The TV show "LOST" comes to mind as well. the first few seasons were good, then went to crap when they got new writers. But the original writers lost (irony) their way with the storylines so they were replaced. (the writers strike in Hollywood didn't help IIRC)

Hahaha, this is a pretty funny ad. Too bad airplaying the Apple TV+ app on phones to the television is garbage and drops mid show without saving the spot, making it a really big barrier to entry. Apple should just let their ego go and allow smartcast as an option to improve the adoption rate.
I have been AirPlaying since the feature debuted, and almost never get a crash. It’s rocksolid most of the time. So you may want to check your Wi-Fi or your software.

I don't know, but quality is what Apple TV+ needs more of. I just cancelled my subscription because of there was not enough quality content to justify it. They have some quality, of course, just not enough. Ted Lasso was the only thing that I thought was really good.

Jon Hamm is the hottest guy alive. Period. His role in Mad Men made him so. Put him in modern clothing, he feels different.

I can see your point but it really sounds like you have more of an issue with quantity than quality. When I launch AppleTV+, I know that almost anything they put in front of me, I will give it a chance and most of them I like. Meanwhile, Netflix has 100x more content but most of their recommendations are wrong and I spent more time looking for something good than actually watching something good. There’s probably a happy sweet spot somewhere between AppleTV+ and Netflix.

I'm disappointed that no one in this thread mentioned his awesome work in 30 Rock. He's also been pretty good when he's on SNL, has no one seen "Jon Hamm's John Ham"? Or "Shy Ronnie 2: Ronnie & Clyde (feat. Rihanna)"?

Is it a bad sign when I have no idea who Jon Hamm is?
Yeah it kinda is. Cause he was the main protagonist on my favourite tv series ever. The sad part is that the glory days of detailed and passionate tv series making like sopranos, mad men, breaking bad etc is a thing of the past….. lucky those who experienced such TOP QUALITY shows back then. Now go watch (not you) your Netflix/Apple tv sh-itstorm with few exceptions.
