On a tangential note, that fly-back animation to the springboard Settings icon looks schizophrenic.

Only problem I’ve had with autocorrect in iOS 11 is it randomly deciding to capitalize words in the middle of sentences from time to time

Same here. Never happened on iOS 10, and the words don't seem to be based on anything I have previously corrected, such as a proper noun. Completely random. I have not found a solution. It's really annoying.

11.1.2.

On my italian keyboard “la” (female singular article) get corrected every time into “L.A”...

It's not too much of a pain when autocorrect mis-corrects a word. The real pain is when you backspace a word that iOS has autocorrected wrongly, retype it, only to have iOS autocorrect it wrongly again, and again, and again.

It has got to the point for me, where I have to try and work out how I can trick the system into leaving the word alone.

It's one of the very few things that makes me want to throw my iPhone out the window, it's so frustrating!
It's irritating when writing in Spanish (using the Spanish spell-checker) and iOS replaces "los gatos" (the cats), with "Los Gatos" (a place in California). I mean, how many people live there? Happens also with many other phrases in Spanish.

Another annoyance with this is it will likely precipitate an entire iOS point update. Sure there will probably be other fixes mixed in with it, but should it really be necessary to fix minor keyboard issues with an OS update?

I personally havent used auto correct since the Nokia days. I feel like i would spent more time correcting wrong autocorrects especially since i never write / talk in proper high german

With every bug reported, I honestly wonder how did iOS 11 manage to create bugs which didn't exist in iOS 10?

I'm using SwiftKey and just tried "it" in iMessages. It was fine. Running 11.1.2. Must not be one of the hundreds.

Autocorrect also adds an "a" before words for no reason. This has been happening less but it still happens.

Toronto is also corrected to TORONTO in all caps for some reason. I've never written Toronto that way so it definitely didn't learn it from me.

Still happily on iOS 10.3.3, where none of this is happening. I knew waiting for 11.2.x or later was a good idea. :D

YES!!

I really wish they would do what blackberry did with their keyboards. Basically if i backspaced that part of the word than it would auto replace an alternative or leave as I typed it. Since clearly when you backspace something you are not intending to write it. Again and again and again and again.

At least a few hundred iPhone users and counting have complained about the word "it" autocorrecting to "I.T" on iOS 11 and later.

When affected users type the word "it" into a text field, the keyboard first shows "I.T" as a QuickType suggestion. After tapping the space key, the word "it" automatically changes to "I.T" without actually tapping the predictive suggestion.

A growing number of iPhone users have voiced their frustrations about the issue on the MacRumors discussion forums, Twitter, and other discussion platforms on the web since shortly after iOS 11 was released in late September.

MacRumors reader Tim shared a video that appears to indicate the issue can cause the word "is" to be autocorrected to "I.S" as well.

Many users claim the apparent autocorrect bug persists even after rebooting the device and performing other basic troubleshooting.

A temporary workaround is to tap Settings > General > Keyboard > Text Replacement and enter "it" as both the phrase and shortcut, but some users insist this solution does not solve the problem.

A less ideal workaround is to toggle off auto-correction and/or predictive suggestions completely under Settings > General > Keyboard.

The issue is notable given Apple just recently addressed a similar bug that caused the letter "i" to autocorrect to "A[?]" on iOS 11 and later. The fix was included in iOS 11.1.1, publicly released in early November.

This similar "it" to "I.T" issue does not appear to be fixed in iOS 11.1.1 and later. It's unclear if a future software update will be required to address the problem, which MacRumors hasn't been able to reproduce. Apple did not respond to multiple requests for comment about this particular issue.

Works fine for me, just tried it on both my iPad and iPhone. Mind you I’m using British English - the original and best!

Yep, definitely happening to me (I started that forum thread linked here in the article). I tried doing the trick with text replacement which has fixed the issue like 75% of the time, but not always. Super weird.

I.t’s...Apple Park’s flying circus...

Not happening here. That auto correct business with fixing certain words that do not need fixing, and then fighting with that auto correct erroneously fix is a royal pain though.

This has been happening to almost all of my friend group it went from one person to the next almost like a virus I.T is very very annoying I know almost 50 people alone out of my friends who currently have this problem
