Well, your “point” of the users define the user experience(neighborhood), is pointless since Twitter was defining what made it and what didn’t. Living in a censored society isn’t living in a neighborhood. It’s living in a cage.

Make of that what you will, but I welcome people that disagree with me or even berate me on Twitter. I don’t use it, but you have BLOCK and MUTE options which you must have never discovered.
??? I'm not the one complaining and not understanding how it works and how I can control what I see...Dude, don't use it as a primary news source for you one very narrow specific example. Its Twitter for tweets...

There has never been such a thing as a “self made billionaire”.

Nobody’s wealth is self made, especially the wealthiest. The ultra wealthy exploit the talent and labor of their employees or buy out companies which had been created by people much smarter than them.
Moreover, there’s almost always a cumulative generational effect. Musk’s parents were millionares. A fact which literally afforded him more educational and business-connection opportunities than most people will ever get.

Every time people like Musk bring up how they want to create an "ultimate unlimited free-speech zone" they seem to forget that plenty of sites with that setup already exist (parler, gab, truth social), it's just that normal people don't want to hang out on them 'cause they're awful
The only one that actually appears to be free speech is gab. the rest have apps on the App Store which means that they have to prove having implemented content moderation tech

It’s interesting to see the responses here…

I think Twitter had a ton of dead weight, and it appears to be running just fine with a fraction of the employees. The mutiny and boisterous opposition to coming into the office and allowing equal enforcement of policies caused the company to self-cull its more activist employees. Heck, there was a whole cabinet at Twitter HQ filled with #StayWoke T-shirts!

So far, I think Elon is on the right path, the only path, to restoring Twitter to an open platform of ideas and dialog. Many don’t like that. I think that the old culture metastasized and excising it may yet be fatal to Twitter, it’s not going to go without a fight.

Spoke to two old colleagues. Both wives worked for Twitter. Both took severance.

The moderation department is in shambles.
Advertising is in shambles.

So much instructional knowledge is lost it will take 12-24 months to recover.

They already feel like they have been passed up for one job, at least due to Twitter being on their resume.

They agreed. Enron is not taking the EU seriously enough and friend says, its the EU's twitter apps that will be the first to be pulled. If / Once that happens Google and apple will pull then pull US shortly after out of caution. There is precedent.

Both say, based on inside stuff they are hearing, unless Enron leaves (impossible) this bird is cooked:

And Elon losses 48B. Chump change to him.

Eh, it's not chump change to him, if for no other reason than at that level of wealth it's more of a scorecard against other billionaires than anything else, and that level of fail is a good way to completely lose any respect (and help on future projects). See: Diller ripping him in interviews recently for example.

Also it's tanking other properties that are key to his wealth, especially Tesla. Personally, for ex, I've canceled my plans for a model 3 next year and are looking at other EVs. My main reason for the M3 LR was the range/size combo anyway and the new EVs coming up have simillar combos (like the ioniq 6). BTW it takes at least 600 people paying $8/mo for a full year at twitter to make up for just my change in plans for Tesla if you want to compare the 2 that way, and I'm by far not the only one. That calculus is tanking Tesla stock

I’m not a musk fan, but if he cared about looking good, he would be going about this all differently.

Which is why I don’t believe he really cares how he looks. He’s going to rip twitter apart from the inside out.

Musks antics a few years ago led me to not even consider a Tesla, even back then.
No way would I ever buy one now or moving forward unless something major changed (like him totally gone perhaps)

Him aside, I don't really care for their aesthetic and ergonomic choices inside either. I like buttons and knobs for key things and a more conventional approach that just happens to be an EV also.

All advertising should be stopped on Twitter.

Nobody watches ads on there anyway.

It's just a bunch of ponzi, scams and bots.

When Elon unbans all the racist vermin and trolls and gives them amnesty there's no reason to put any ads on there.

Except maybe ads for mental health help.

If Enron continues to play fast and loose with moderation, well. FAFO he will:

This is Tim saying, clean your stuff up and get your moderation in gear. Or else.

His carefully manufactured public image.

Shot to pieces in the span of a month.

Of course, some of us saw right thru his facade years ago, but most people still think:

a) billionaires are self made
b) billionaires are smarter than you or I

Who is on the board of Tesla, do they have the power to boot him?

Including the billionares. Its what they tell themselves, as we well know from the leaked Mitt Romney speech a decade back.

Wow! No wonder he's in a mood this morning:

I heard from a source who spent time working in Twitter’s ad products organization that Apple, until recently, was not just a big advertiser on Twitter, but the largest.
