Interesting ... when used responsibly, so you don’t lose an outlet and can still plug in a lamp or something; but stacking chargers seems like too much chance for an overheating and / or overloading condition.

For whatever reason all I can think of is this setup.

Seems like a neat idea, but hopefully there is some intellegence and a built in breaker to prevent people from stacking more than 4 or 5 of these things, then plugging in a portable AC unit into the open 110v outlet at the end.

I was doing some minor updates/remodel of the homestead, and was looking for USB outlets, and found one from Hubbell. It was awesome! All USB-C, and looked great (as far as a USB-C outlet could I suppose) and tried to order two of them.

Yeah, that did not go well.

Apparently Hubbell 'announced' them, but hasn't ever 'made' on of them. Damn... Maybe they have now, but the purchasing person at the local electrical wholesaler called Hubbell while I was standing there, and even Hubbell needed them to tell them what the device was that I was looking for. DOH! It's probably still in their catalog, I just wonder if they ever actually made them.

USB-C is so incredibly more popular. I'm surprised how popular it is. I already have a USB-C to Lightning cable. Amazing...

OMG!!! Flashbacks!!! My mom bought an 'older home', and we assumed that it was at least someone modern. She only ended up with one outlet in the living room. It was a 'two prong' outlet, no ground. I traced the circuit to the fuse box, and unscrewed the fuse, and took the plate off, and pulled the outlet. OMG! Aluminum wiring! And no ground! OMG!!!

In the 2000's, someone could sell a house with Aluminum wiring? WTH!!! I got a real electrician to replace most of the wiring in her house. And add a few outlets too. Yikes... Sorry, that just sent chills down my spine...

I think Leviton has one, but it's 18w and only a single USB-C port. I have a couple of the dual port USB-A outlets and they work fine. (I'd say just use one of those and accept a slow charge rate, but my 2020 MacBook Air freaks out if you try to charge it with 5v / 12w when it's asleep.)

Cascading power arrangements are generally discouraged, if not a no-no.

Extension cords shouldn't branch from another extension cord or multi-tap. A power strip shouldn't be plugged into a UPS, etc. Most people don't know what Ohm's Law is, and tacitly encouraging the "LEGO-ing" of these adapters is really kind of irresponsible in a way.

If these things manage to make it to production, I doubt they'll carry safety marks from the organizations that are reputable, and relevant (unlike many of them plastered on cheap electronics) like UL.

While a definitive conclusion isn't possible, the MV Conception accident is strongly suspected of being the result of unsafe, haphazard charging provisions, and with sad consequences.

Their first GaN charger (campaign) was a disaster. Lots of USB-C devices just don’t work, even when using their add-on USB-C cable. Would not recommend Hyper. At all.

And they were prone to heating and damaged devices. I posted on their pre-campaign thread asking for comment, but they never responded.

I would view the comments on the previous auction before buying the new one. Also think about this design as it seems geared for a table top flush ac plug.

My experience with Sanho corporation is really bad. Beware of their Kickstarter campaigns - just read the comments on Kickstarter. They refuse to refund and claim there is no recourse when purchased via Kickstarter, even to backers who's products are defective or never arrive. Slow to respond. The campaign prior to this with the 6/12/18 port hubs was a fiasco. The prior 100W adapter also had problems as mentioned above. I ended up buying a smaller CHOETECH 100w charger for the MBP 16" in Amazon for less, smaller and very reliable. I for one, would not consider backing anything they put on Kickstarter or Indiegogo. They sell via Amazon a few months later the products, but then you have Amazon to make sure someone stands behind them. The videos and promises they make are not reflective of the actual products they ship.

I also bought Cheotech and I use it often. The Sanho is in a drawer as I am afraid to use it.

Already see issues in the comments. Did you all realize they are not offering white?
The unit you will get is black. And that's the only color. All of their materials and emails show white units.
This is the type of company you are dealing wither and I dare them to come here and address my concerns.

TIL...There are still people who don’t understand Kickstarter is not a store and you are not placing an “order” when you back a campaign.

seriously, stay away from this company
I bought their 100w charger
the product built quality is terrible and defective. their rep has non-existent customer service.
take a look at comment section of their last kickstart campaign, it was simply a disaster
they still havent fulfilled their existing project, and is trying to sell another? this must be a joke

AVOID!!
I bought their 100w GaN charger via Kickstarter. It’s started to charge inconsistently and give small electric shocks (!!) - their customer service was extremely rude, repeatedly closing the case unresolved. Their only proposal eventually was for me to ship the faulty charger at my expense, ~$30, internationally! I for one will never buy from HYPER/Sanho again, and I’d recommend nobody else did either.
i experienced the exact same thing as you did

This. This is why I pretty much give the middle finger to most products that are asking to be pre-funded on Kickstarter. I can see it for truly unique products, but for a phone charger? Nah. If it's any good it'll be for sale normally soon enough, and I'll buy it then. I see no reason I should pain in advance for something nobody has seen and for which there are no possible reviews. Rather wait a little while than be a guinea pig.

This outlet pass-through functionality can be achieved for under $5 at any hardware store.

Strange. I’ve had no problems at all with all of my HYPER devices.

I’d even go one step further and say they’re probably the best 3rd party brand I’ve dealt with. AND I got an order just fine through their most recent Kickstarter...

I've backed projects on KickStarter before, but now I avoid them because they've taken a political stance.

Yea and even if your tier "promises" units or other perks, if the campaign fails or they are fraudsters:

The one that Hubbell had in their catalog, since deleted, looked exactly like this, except it had 4 USB-C ports with the rounded corner holes. I thought SCORE!!! But they apparently never made a single one of them. Sad... But wouldn't that be awesome! 4 USB-C ports, all, supposedly, with 'Power Delivery'. Wow...

That is the actual one that I used. Leviton had announced theirs, but the distributor, and Leviton, didn't have any. This Hubbell one was at least available.

EDIT: I also put a few of these around the house too. Type-A, but they make it easier than stacking chargers, and having to unplug some chargers to insert others, or having a stupid power strip laying around on counters. (Although the first one I received didn't last a month, which was odd. It was replaced, and so far the replacements have worked perfectly for over a year)

I assume it might be the same in several countries, but at least in Germany such "stackable" devices are simple not allowed. A few of these devices together create a lever that might be strong enough to pull the entire socket out of the wall exposing raw wires.
I am not so sure about this. There may be no wooden studs and outlets are clamped into boxes and not screwed, but they hold with enough force to hold a stack of chargers. I remember my grandma having a stack of tripple splitters in her 1900s Berlin apartment.
