Hi everyone - I'm the developer of Hyperjump, a new app to make macOS Spaces easier to recognize and navigate.

I made it because I use multiple Spaces to work on different things, and it became surprisingly easy to lose track of where things were. The built-in "Desktop 1", "Desktop 2", etc. labels in Mission Control don't help much because they don't say what each Space is actually for. It's especially frustrating when opening an app pulled me into another Space and I had no easy way to get back.

Hyperjump is my attempt to solve that problem.

It does not rename the built-in "Desktop 1", "Desktop 2", etc. labels. But it lets you assign your own visible names to Spaces so they're easier to recognize and jump to through keyboard shortcuts/menu bar.

Here's what that looks like in Mission Control:

With Hyperjump, you can:
  • give Spaces your own names
  • see which Space you're currently in after switching
  • jump directly to a specific Space from a custom shortcut or the menu bar
  • jump back to your previous Space
  • move a window to another Space by starting a drag and pressing that Space's shortcut
This short clip shows named Spaces, switching between them, and jumping to one from the menu bar:

I think of Hyperjump as a complement to other workspace/setup tools rather than a replacement. Those tools can help arrange or restore your workspace; Hyperjump is more about helping you stay oriented and move around Spaces more easily once you're working.

Hyperjump is available on the Mac App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/hyperjump-for-desktop-spaces/id6758737765?mt=12

If anyone has questions, I’m happy to answer them.
